Video Transcript for Review of Reese - Wiring - RP74641

Today, we'll be taking a quick look at the four and five flat trailer connector mounting box. This is going to have a little protective cover go over your four and flat pole on your vehicle end. And it basically just provides a little like house for your wiring to keep it nice and protected. It comes with two self tapping screws and a couple of zip ties and you're wiring to stores inside there helps to keep any excess wiring safe and tucked up out of the way, not only out of the elements, but also you don't have to worry about it dragging on the ground and getting damaged that way. We've got a length of four pole wire with the four pole end. So you can see how it just slips into that little slot at the bottom. So whenever you have your wiring mounted up, can put that through there, fold it up inside and then snap the door closed.

And then the two flanges on either side allow you to mount that up again, either with those self-tapping screws or the zip ties. I like that they include the zip ties with it, that way you don't have to make any modifications to your bumper or your hitch. It makes an easy mounting point, if you change your mind, you can always clip those off and use some other ones. As far as the dimensions, the widest point, which will be the ends of those flanges. It's about five inches wide, the box itself it's about four or three and four, three and three quarters inches wide. It's about two and a quarter inch tall and right around one and three quarters, inch wide or deep.

The distance center to center of those mounting holes is about four and a half inches. Doesn't come with this length of four-pole wiring I just wanted to have something to show you how those wires would fit in there. Even if you have a five pole wiring, there's still enough space, there's enough of a gap there that should be able to get it tucked in side and keep that wiring protected. The one thing that I would say with this case is that over time I think you might have an issue with that door maybe getting worn and snapping off potentially. Disconnected now, but if it we're to snap off, it'll still pop into place it just might not stay connected whenever you open it up so that's one thing to keep in mind. Pretty lightweight It's just a universal black color all the way around.

It's made of a Thermo plastic construction. So not going rust anything out causing any damage there just keeps our wiring up and out of the way. That's going to do it for our look at the four and five flat trailer connector mounting box..

Have not installed this. The quality is good

Works to keep some water and dirt off of the trailer connector. Decent room for the connector and a few inches of the wiring. Closing is just putting plastic tabs into plastic slots so I am curious to see how long that lasts. But still good a year later. The location where I put it made it tight to get the hitch pin in and out, so was not the best for my application. But not the Box's fault.

  • Will the Connector Mounting Box Mount Directly to the Draw Tite Hitch # 75528 on a 2009 GMC Acadia
I went out to the warehouse and tested the fit of the 4 and 5-Flat Trailer Connector Mounting Box, item # RP74641, with the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver, item # 75528, and it will not bolt up to the existing holes in the receivers electrical mounting bracket. The mounting holes in the Connector Mounting Box, item # RP74641, are 4-1/2 inches on center, and the receivers electrical mounting bracket mounting holes are 2-1/4 inches and 1-3/4 inches apart on center. • 4-Way Mounting Bracket Recommendation for Larger 4-Ways
The 4-way mounting bracket part # RP74641 can basically fit any 4-way harness as it can also fit the larger 5-ways as well. I attached a review video for you to check out as well.

  • What Would Happen if Vehicle Tongue Weight Capacity Was Exceeded
You'll most likely damage the vehicle frame before you do the hitch when you exceed the tongue weight capacity of a vehicle. The trailer hitch from Draw Tite part # 24763 that fits your 2012 Honda Civic has a tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs which you'd need to stay under that figure as well as the figure listed in your owners manual since you are only as strong as the weakest component in your towing setup.

  • Mounting a 4 and 5-Flat Trailer Connector Mounting Box
The 4 and 5-Flat Trailer Connector Mounting Box # RP74641 will mount to either your hitch or the rear fascia of your vehicle with the self-tapping screws or zip ties provided. It is up to you exactly where and how you want to mount the box. The trailer connector wires will have to be fed through the back hole of the mounting box, so the connector is stored in the box. The wires will come out of the back of the box, and then into your vehicle for attachment.

  • Options for Mounting Dealer Installed Trailer Connector on 2008 Subaru Outback
The Trailer Connector Mounting Box, part # RP74641 has slits at the corners of the hole in the back of the box. These slits can be enlarged by using a utility knife, and allow your trailer connector to pass through from the rear. To mount a connector I like the 4 Pole Knock-Out Adapter, part # 30601 with brackets # RM-910030-5 and # C57202. The # C57202 bracket would attach to your hitch using the included pipe clamp, bracket # 118137 would attach to it, and the Knock-Out Adapter would...

  • Trailer Wiring Harness Mounting Bracket for a 2006 Dodge Magnum
We have numerous brackets that you can use to hold/house the trailer wiring connector on your 2006 Dodge Magnum. A simple solution for a 4 or 5-Way trailer connector would be the Trailer Connector Mounting Box, # RP74641, which you can simply zip tie to the cross tubing of the hitch. For a 7-Way, you can use # PK12711U, attach it to # 18140 which then would attach to the hitch cross tubing with the included hose clamp.

  • Wishbone 4-way Recommendation
I think your best option for a 4-way would be to get a 20 ft. Wishbone 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness # A20WB. This is a male side 4-way with a 20 feet section of wire that could easily be cut down to 2 feet. This is also a wishbone setup that has 2 wires run for the running light circuit.

  • Recommended Electric Boat Winch For 4000lb Fiberglass Boat
The Dutton-Lainson StrongArm Electric Winch - Marine - 9,000 lbs # DL25215 would be plenty strong to pull your 4000lb fiberglass boat on your bunk trailer, and already includes a 2" x 20' polyester strap so you will not need to purchase one separately. Since the wiring included with the # DL25215 has a quick connect already on it you can run that to the battery on your truck and mount the quick connector near your 7-way like you mentioned. You will then use the Dutton-Lainson Electrical...

We do offer a couple of mounting boxes for 4-way flat connectors, but the style differs from the Draw-Tite Bracket, part # 18156. You can check out part # RP74641 and part # HM48755. These are designed to protect your 4-way flat connector. I have attached links to our product pages that list the mounting brackets we have for 4-way round and 4-way flat trailer connectors.

The two will not fit together without either modifying the bracket or the harness, so I do not recommend using them together. Instead, I recommend using a mounting box, part # RP74641. • How to Protect Bulldog Winch Quick Connectors for Winch Wiring on a Truck
The Bulldog Winch quick connectors # BDW20047 themselves do not have any sort of cover to protect them from the elements. But what you could do is modify mounting box # RP74641 and that will help protect them. There is no one place that you have to mount the connectors. You can mount them in a place that works best for you. We do sell 10 gauge wire. I recommend # 10-2-1 since it is 2 wires in 1 sheath. It is sold by the foot so if you needed 20 feet you would put 20 in the quantity box.
