Hello, neighbors, Steve here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at a replacement jaw spring for the Signature Series fifth wheels that are Reese brand. So folks, again, this replaces one quantity one jaw spring for your Reese Signature Series fifth-wheel hitches. It's gonna include one spring replacement, and as you can see, one side here is longer than the other side. I'll throw some dimensions up here for you as well. Overall, 7 1/4 inches edge to edge, about 1/2 inch in between the hook size, and the overall width of the spring, on the short side there on the left, you got one inch long and on the right side, you got 1 1/4 inches long and the actual middle length of the spring itself is 4 15/16 inches long.

The right springs at the right price! Very satisfied. My 29 year old Reese 20K 5th wheel hitch thanks you.

by:

The sales team at etrailer was very helpful and knowledgeable about their products.

by:

Did not fit. The hooks needed to be in different directions, so I had to modify my fifth wheel hitch. It is an older model that has been discontinued. Was able to find an illustration from e-trailer and another customer to see the connection points for the jaw spring.

Spring is still working. Might order a spare. The original lasted 9 years before breaking due to fatigue.

This is the second time I have had to replace this spring. Because of its funtion I keep a spare. Great place to trade with good prices.

  • Jaw of Reese RP30081 Select Plus Isn't Gripping King Pin Tightly
There isn't any adjustability in the hitch head of the Reese # RP30081 Select Plus 5th wheel hitch. I spoke with my Reese representative, who said it might be a broken spring. When you open the hitch jaw, is there tension on the handle, if not the spring has broken and needs to be replaced with part # RP58230.

  • Replacement Jaw Spring for Reese Fifth Wheel Hitch part # RP30081
The jaw spring that your Reese Fifth Wheel Hitch part (Discontinued) RP30081 requires as a replacement is the part # RP58230. To access the spring you will need to take the head off of the hitch and turn it upside down to access the inner workings of the jaw assembly. See picture attached.

  • Replacement Wire Loom to Secure RV Slide-Out Wiring
Thanks for the photo, that was a huge help! You're needing 1/2 inch wire loom, which we sell by the foot as part # 459075-1. I'd also use some 1/2 inch loom clamps, part # A0500 to secure the wire loom and hold it where it's supposed to be.

  • Reese M5 Series Jaw Will Not Open All the Way with Handle Locked in Open Position
There could be something gumming up the works internally with your hitch, # RP30921, that is not allowing the jaws to stay fully opened. Usually this means there is some dirt and grime that got mixed up with the grease used to lubricate the mechanism. If you take just the head off and flip it over you might be able to see this more clearly. If you clean off the old grease and reapply some new grease that could be all you need. It is also possible that there is something mechanically wrong...

  • Locking Jaw Will Not Fully Open On Reese 20K Select Plus 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch
There are a few things that could cause the issue you are having with the locking jaw not opening up fully on the Reese Select Plus 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30081. The first thing I would check is that the jaw is greased properly and there is no foreign material inside the head that is stopping the jaw from fully opening. If nothing is found then there could also be a damaged component such as the jaw spring part # RP58230. If needed, we also offer a replacement head the 20K Select...
