All installed and works perfect. There was a hole in the box though. The packaging was a little weak for the weight of this item. 861079

I needed a new hitch set up for a newly aquired toy hauler. The hitch that I chose did not come with a mounting shank. This Reece Titan fit perfectly with my Reece hutch and as a bonus, it is 2 1/2 inches which allows me to remove the adapter from my 2017 F250’s receiver. It’s one less thing to keep up with and it seems to tighten up the whole assembly. I first ordered the drop version of this and discovered that it was not a good fit height wise for my stock height 250 4x4. My Jayco T32C has a tall hitch height so the regular shank fit much better. Lori at etrailer was a huge help on the return and shipping out my replacement quickly. Thanks Lori and etrailer. 858022

The ball shank for my new F250 arrived yesterday. It is high quality and provided enough drop for me to install my weight distribution head for my camper. Bought a model that dropped the hitch further but it dropped it too low. i returned the original purchase to etrailer after paying the shipping back to them. 725615

I purchased this after getting a newer GMC 3500HD with the 3" receiver. I ran the 3" to 2.5" adapter on my old receiver for a bit, but it was sloppy, more noise, and just didn't make me feel comfortable. Installed my Straight-Line 17k on this drop hitch, and this thing is hefty! That probably 70 lbs of steel hitch feels good and secure! 505325

Great fit for a Class V receiver. Used with a Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w Sway Control w/ Trunnion Bar behind my 2015 F-250. This is a MUST HAVE for Class V receivers as you should not use an adaptor sleeve (class IV to V) with weight distribution hitches. 470889

Comments
According to my Reese representative, Its perfectly acceptable to use a reducer sleeve in order to use a 2 inch weight distribution shank in a 2-1/2 inch receiver as long as the sleeve does not extend past the front face of the receiver by more than a 1/2 inch. Using something like # 58102
Reese Titan Reducer Sleeve 2-1/2" to 2"
$21.47
would be perfectly fine although using the correct shank for the receiver is always preferable.

After upgrading to a F250 with a 2.5 inch hitch, my 2 inch shank had a lot of play even with the 2 inch adapter installed on my truck. With some research, including reading other reviews on etrailer.com, I decided to upgrade my weight distribution shank to a 2.5 inch. I purchased item # RP54976 from your website and received it two days early. This weekend I installed it and pulled my travel trailer for the first time. The first thing I noticed was all of the play between the truck and the shank was gone, it was a perfect fit. (The fit was better than my original 2 inch shank fitting up to the 2 inch hitch on my old truck.) I'm now looking even more forward to a long road trip this summer with my trailer in tow. Thanks etrailer.com for your great service and high quality parts. 71061

Fits much better then my 2" with the adapter sleeve for the larger 2.5" hitches on new Fords, still uses the same 2" weight distribution hitch head i already have, but now it doesn't move around a scary amount when towing my 10k lbs trailer and race car. 30784

  • Replacement Shank Recommendation to Use Pro Series Weight Distribution System in 2.5 in Hitch
You will need a different shank for your weight distribution system since your Pro Series uses washers against the front of the shank to set the angle of the head of the system. I appreciate you sending in the picture that you did as it illustrates this perfectly with the # RP54976. For a similar shank with a solid front on the shank that will work for you we have the Equal-i-zer part # EQ90-02-4800 which would work well.

  • 2-1/2 Inch Weight Distribution Shank Measuring 10 to 12 Inches From Hitch Pin to Adjustments Holes
We carry 2 weight distribution shanks that are 11-3/4 inches from the hitch pin hole to the adjustment holes, but they're made by Reese. We have part # RP54976 which has a 1/4 inch drop or 5-1/4 inch rise and 1,700 pound tongue weight capacity and part # RP54977 which has a 5-3/4 inch drop or a 8-1/4 inch rise and has the same tongue weight capacity. I've linked videos of both shanks, as well as a dimensions diagram. They're both the same size other than the rise and drop.

  • Will Reese Titan WD Shank # RP54976 Work for Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System
Yes, the Reese Titan Weight Distribution Shank # RP54976 will work perfectly with the head on your existing Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System # BXW1000. Luckily weight distribution shanks are pretty interchangeable between different brands/manufacturers and that is the case with this particular combo. The Reese shank features adjustment holes that are spaced apart by 1-1/4 inches (on center), which matches the bolt hole spacing on the Blue Ox head. This will allow you to continue...

  • Will Reese Titan 2-1/2 Inch Shank Work with Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System
Yes, the Reese Titan shank, part # RP54976, will work with the 1,400 pound tongue weight Steadi-Flex, part # RP66561. It works to fit the 2-1/2 inch receiver in your 2011 Ford F-250 but it doesn't increase the capacity of the Steadi-Flex to 1,700 pounds.

  • Recommended Weight Distribution Shank for 2-1/2 Inch Receiver on Reese System
Reese does offer the 2-1/2 inch shank # RP54976 which will work fine for your system, however, I recommend the Curt # C17131 which will work just as well and will save you some money. The shanks are made very similar and with the same spacing and hole sizes for adjustments so many of them are interchangeable like this one between manufacturers.

  • Recommended Weight Distribution Shank to fit a 2-1/2 Trailer Hitch
I recommend the Reese Titan weight distribution shank # RP54977 because it has a 5-3/4 inch maximum drop and 8-1/4 inch rise. The weight distribution head can be mounted so it has a drop of approximately 3 inches. The tongue weight is 1,700 pounds and will fit a 2-1/2 hitch receiver per your needs. The shank # RP54977 will work nicely with the Reese straight-line WD with sway control # RP66074 because it's designed to work with trunnion bar systems. I included a couple videos and...

  • Will a Reese Weight Distribution Shank Fit a Ford 2-1/2 Inch OEM Hitch
The Reese Titan Weight Dist Shank part # RP54976 should fit into the 2-1/2" receiver tube opening on your 2017 Ford F-350. However, I cannot say for certain as they have not been tested and confirmed to fit. The problem is that some of the 2-1/2" OEM Ford trailer hitches do not withhold the same industry standard tolerance as most do so there are certain situations in which the shank will and will not fit. In most cases it will fit and in some, minor trimming/sanding is needed. With...

  • Recommended Way to Upgrade Reese Weight Distribution from 2 inch Hitch to 2-1/2 inch Hitch
I would rather see you go with a shank that is designed to fit a 2-1/2 inch hitch rather than use a reducer as anytime you can get around using an adapter you are better off. Reducers add more movement to the setup and will be just one more thing you have to remember. The Reese Titan Shank part # RP54976 would work well and would be the correct choice if you only needed up to a 1-1/4 inch drop. If more drop is needed then the part # RP54977 would be what you need as it is capable of...

Using the # HR26 with a weight distribution kit isn't recommended because the extender will lower the hitch tongue weight capacity by one third, so I wouldn't advise using an extender.
