Except for the chains not being long enough on the weight distribution hitch because this sets the hooks up higher this seems like a good product. 506147

Comments

The Pole tongue adapter you purchased is designed for trailer frames up to 6 inches tall. If the chains arent long enough, lower the weight distribution head by 1-2 sets of holes and tilt the head more toward the front of the vehicle. This will bring the ends of the spring bars higher, and should allow your existing chains to work.

Delivered exactly as ordered and in a remarkably short time period. Clearly a well designed, quality built product. I have not installed yet, but as a very experienced individual with over 30 years of trailer towing under my belt, I expect this product will work fine. As a note, I am most impressed with E-trailer service to date. 643193

Got the product and very little time to install. Now for the road trip to test it out. 424331

Overall it does the job and allowed me to attach a load distribution hitch on my long tongue boat trailer as expected. The bottom clamping bolt was very long for my trailer tongue width, however, and by the time it was tightened down the full length of the bolt the locking threads on the nut were worn out enough to no longer be self locking. I'll have to cut the bolt and put on a new nut since I didnt have the tools handy to do so when I installed it. 219791

  • Compatibility Of Friction Sway Control On A Boat Trailer
  • There are pole tongue adapters like the Reese Pole-Tongue Adapter for Weight Distribution Systems - 7,500 lbs GTW, 750 lbs TW # RP3280 and the Reese Pole-Tongue Adapter for Weight Distribution Systems - 14,000 lbs GTW, 1,400 lbs TW # RP58393 that allow a straight tongue trailer to use the sway control of a weight distribution system. The issue you face with your trailer is these need to be mounted 29-30 inches back from the hitch ball. That means this system may work with your trailer...

  • Weight Distribution System for Snowmobile Trailer with Short Tongue
  • Weight distribution systems usually install such that their A-frame-mounted spring bar lift brackets are between 26 and 32-inches to the rear of the hitch ball. As an example, the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37100ET, which works for trailer tongue weights from 600- to 1000-lbs, has brackets that need to be positioned between 27- and 32-inches from the hitch ball center. But we do offer the Curt Short Arm # C17332 which needs 28-inches. Trailers that have a straight pole...

  • Reese Pole Tongue Adapter Compatibility with Curt Weight Distribution System
  • The Reese Pole-Tongue Adapter for Weight Distribution Systems - 7,500 lbs GTW, 750 lbs TW # RP3280 will work well with the Curt MV Weight Distribution System - Round Bar - 6,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW # C17050. You will just need to add a hitch ball like # 40038 for a 2 inch diameter or # C40030 for a 2-5/16 inch option. If your trailer is aluminum, you will want to check with the manufacturer before using a weight distribution system.

  • Weight Distribution Installation for Pole Tongue Boat Trailer Towed by 2005 Ford F-150
  • Thank you for the photo of your truck and hitched boat trailer. There are a couple of things to keep in mind concerning tongue weights (TW) in your setup. First, typically a boat trailer can have low-ish TW due to the rear-positioned motor's weight lifting the trailer tongue. When placing tanks, toys and other items in the boat for transport you want to do so such that you can maintain a suitable amount of TW, 10 to 15-percent of the boat/trailer combined gross weight. Scale # 5780 makes...

For your trailer dolly, I recommend the MaxxTow MaxxHaul Dual Pull Trailer Dolly - 1-7/8" Hitch Ball - Steel - 600 lbs # MT70881 because it has the pneumatic all-terrain tires and the handle and stand to make it easy to operate and store when not in use. • How to Use Weight Distribution/Sway Control on Pole Tongue Trailer
  • Friction-style sway control units like # 17200 from Curt can be used on a-frame trailers but not on a straight pole tongue trailer due to interference with turning clearance. On a pole tongue trailer it is possible to add weight distribution systems that have integrated sway control, rather than a separate friction unit, by using a pole tongue adapter like # RP3280 or # RP58393.

These adapters bolt on to the straight frame member to provide a substitute mounting point for the WD system's lift brackets. These adapters mount 29 to 30-inches back from the hitch ball. • Weight Distribution Recommendation For 2011 Jeep Liberty And Boat Trailer
