Except for the chains not being long enough on the weight distribution hitch because this sets the hooks up higher this seems like a good product. 506147

Comments
The Pole tongue adapter you purchased is designed for trailer frames up to 6 inches tall. If the chains arent long enough, lower the weight distribution head by 1-2 sets of holes and tilt the head more toward the front of the vehicle. This will bring the ends of the spring bars higher, and should allow your existing chains to work.

Delivered exactly as ordered and in a remarkably short time period. Clearly a well designed, quality built product. I have not installed yet, but as a very experienced individual with over 30 years of trailer towing under my belt, I expect this product will work fine. As a note, I am most impressed with E-trailer service to date. 643193

Overall it does the job and allowed me to attach a load distribution hitch on my long tongue boat trailer as expected. The bottom clamping bolt was very long for my trailer tongue width, however, and by the time it was tightened down the full length of the bolt the locking threads on the nut were worn out enough to no longer be self locking. I'll have to cut the bolt and put on a new nut since I didnt have the tools handy to do so when I installed it. 219791

  • Can Reese Pole Tongue Adapter be Installed Upside Down
The Reese Pole-Tongue Adapter for Weight Distribution Systems # RP3280 needs to be installed right-side up, you will not be able to mount it upside down on your trailer tongue. The reason is not only would that weaken the system with the strongest middle portion hanging underneath the tongue, but the lift brackets would also be upside down, which would not work. I have added a cut out of the instructions for you as well of the Reese Pole-Tongue Adapter # RP3280.

These adapters bolt on to the straight frame member to provide a substitute mounting point for the WD system's lift brackets. These adapters mount 29 to 30-inches back from the hitch ball. • Controlling Sway On Boat Trailer With Surge Brakes
If you are experiencing a lot of sway, then you may want to check out a weight distribution system that includes sway control. As long as your boat trailer's frame is not made of aluminum you should be fine to install a pole tongue adapter to allow use of a weight distribution/sway control system (WD/SC). You may also want to check with the trailer maker, by providing the trailer's VIN, for their okay on this type of application.
