Video Transcript for Reese Weight Distribution 58392 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Replacement Heavy Duty Snap-Up Bracket for Reese Weight Distribution Systems. This snap-up bracket mounts on the trailer tongue and provides the attachment point for your weight distribution and spring bars that use chains. This creates necessary tension on the spring bars. The replacement unit is designed for use with Reese Weight Distribution Systems that use similar style lift brackets. It does come with a set screw, which bolts the bracket to your trailer frame. That bolt is going to give us a measurement of around 3 1/2 inches from the bottom of the bolt head to the head of the threaded portion.

Then it's also going to come with a new safety pin that locks the bracket in the raised position. Now the bracket itself is made from a steel construction. It's very strong and durable. It's going to have a black powder coated finish, which is going to do a great job at resisting rust and corrosion. One snap-up bracket assembly is included. This bracket features the welded on reinforcement.

That's these raised areas right here. It's got these welded on reinforcements, which makes it a heavy duty bracket making it great for heavier trailers. This is a replacement part for Reese Weight Distribution Systems that have a gross trailer weight rating of 15,000 pounds and 17,000 pounds. We know that this is a very strong and durable heavy duty snap-up bracket. Simply installs approximately 30 inches back from the coupler. It is going to require about 5 1/2 inches of space along the trailer frame.

Measuring right there is where we get that measurement from. It will not fit trailer frames wider than 2 1/2 inches. That's simply, the opening here needs a little bit of space left for the screw, or the bolt, to actually get in there and get some threads through. 2 1/2 inches is the trailer frame width. With that removed, you can see that we can lower this, connect the chains, raise it up to apply the tension, and this goes through those holes to secure it in that up position.

That's going to do it for today's look at the Replacement Heavy Duty Snap-Up Bracket for Reese Weight Distribution Systems.

first order on etrailer and all was delivered as ordered and a perfect transaction etc.

I would order from etrailer again

by:

product as stated, Heavy duty and should solve my problem with bending stock brackets. only had my TT on short trips with the new brackets, but so far so good

by:

Very well built, heavy duty setup for trailers with heavy tongue weight. I've bent several standard brackets, but this gussetted bracket should eliminate that issue. I've only used this style on one trip so far, but I feel much more confident with this setup. Would recommend for any larger, heavy trailer.

by:

Product was shipped in a timely manner. One of the brackets was shipped without the hole for the set screw threaded. It was easy to fix(if you have the correct tap). I did not have time to ship it back for new bracket as we were leaving for a trip later that week. The brackets are now installed and working great. I installed them on my travel trailer and have now taken two trips with the new snap up brackets and no issues.

by:

The regular brackets seem to have bent. These ones with the reinforcements should do the trick!

No problems, holding up fine. Used weekly.

by:

Bolted on using the through hole. Had to make an L-bracket for each side because the bolt was too close to the c-channel frame of the camper, to just put a nut on the backside. Used it this weekend and it held up just fine.

by:

Product seems really solid and would have gotten 5 stars except: Packaging allowed the locking clip from one to escape. I have extras but could be a bigger issue for some. And, the threads on one of the units was damaged. I have a tap, and will clean it up. If not for that I would have requested and RMA. Apart from those inconveniences, looks like a really solid product.

by:

So Far so good. It appears well made. I think I will add a filler between my frame and the back of the bracket where the screw enters. This will prevent the unit from sliding down. I had the original Reese brackets for 10 years. The pins that allow the bracket to move became loose or sloopy. Became very difficult to place the pin. Replaced the bracket with REGULAR brackets. One slipped and cocked on frame and bent screw. The filler may have prevented this. These heavy duty brackets should do the trick.

by:

We purchased a heavier travel trailer and needed to upgrade out proud trunion bars to 1200 lb (also from etrailer), our old snap up brackets but these HD seem to be what we really needed. If you upgrade your trunion bar capacity I strongly recommend also upgrading to HD snap brackets.

etrailer has GREAT customer service. They even called the factory and shared additional helpful information after they had made the sale. I will look for other opportunities to buy from them.

by:

I won't be using them until April 2025. But they are stronger looking than my original ones. Originals lasted 21 years. These should last just as long.

by:

Brackets look and work great.

by:

I previously bought a set of these brackets for my car hauler and they worked perfectly with my current weight distribution hitch. I decided to buy a 2nd set for my boat trailer (that has electric brakes) and am looking forward to a much better ride when I'm towing.

Not as good as I had hoped. I have found that the pins that lock the lift handles is extremely hard to slip through and lock the handles in place, when putting tension on the weight bars. It seems the hinge has some flex in it, when pressure is applied, puts the locking pin holes out of alignment. This happens on both sets of brackets Ive bought. I am likely to have to drill the locking pin holes slightly bigger to accommodate for the mis-alignment.

by:

Fast delivery 3 days, they are exactly as discribed and what I wanted. Now I can use my hitch on 2 different trailes.

Thank you, etailer

I bought the brackets because I have 2 trailers so I can use my equalizer hitch on both , works great

by:

The pin that locks into place does not line up when there is pressure from the chain. I've had to use a heavy duty wire to lock it. The other side works fine.

It sounds as if your snap-up bracket has been bent or damaged. You will want to replace that.

by:

Thankyou so much for all your help. Here is a pic of the product installed on our RV. Thanks again.

by:

I read the reviews of the new bracket and decided to give it a try. ETrailer was very easy to work with and shipped the bracket very quickly. I have attached a photo that illustrates the old bracket next to the new one. The old bracket just could not handle the load of my trailer. When I got home from a trip, both brackets were barely on the trailer frame. I am looking forward to the control and strength of the new bracket when I take the camper out next.

by:

Replacing current Reese snap up brackets ( had one bend last camping season) with the Reese Heavy Duty brackets. After looking over the Reese Heavy Duty Brackets, I noticed the the threads have been cleaned of powder coating, safety pins and locking bolt were included. With the added reinforcement these should not bend like the previous brackets. Free shipping a plus.

by:

I ORDERED THE HEAVY DUTY SNAP-UP BRACKET TO GO ON MY NEW RV AND 1 SET FOR MY OLD RV. THE BRACKETS ARRIVED QUICKLY AND IN EXCELLENT SHAPE. i HAVE USED BOTH TRAILERS IN THE LAST YEAR AND THE BRACKETS PERFORMED WITHOUT A PROBLEM. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE PRODUCT AND THE SERVICE I RECEIVED.

by:

The ordering process was easy enough for the hitch part and the price was fair.
It is the exact product that I was replacing.

Still doing the job it was designed for

by:

Disappointed in the Reese product. The two issues are as follows. First when hooking the chain from the bars and pulling them up tight the hook part doesn't seem to go over center and stay on its own. I actually had one of the chains snap back down before I put the locking pin in. Nearly caught my head. Every other chain device I have used (been several over the last 40 years of trailering) has always gone what I would call over center so it stayed put safely. I won't release pressure on the pipe handle I use to pull the saddle up until I have the safety pin in place. (should not have to do that) I hope this doesn't prove to be a problem while towing. Second, the rivet that holds the lifting part to the piece attached to the trailer tongue doesn't seem to be heavy enough. With the part new there is play and the rivet seems a little loose. Not near as good or heavy as what I have used in the past. If I had a way to talk to the engineer that designed this I would sure give him my 2 cents worth.

by:

Have just recieved the snap up bracket. Have not installed it yet or tried the product out.The Heavy Duty Snap Bracket isvery well made , and makes the original ones that came with the hitch, look cheap and inferior. Why doesn't Reese give you these brackets when you purchase their weight distribution hitch? Delivery time was quick and etrailer promised as delivered. This is my first order from etrailer, but will definetly order from them again due to the great service and products. 2013 Artic Fox 32 A travel trailer.

by:

Bought 2 of these to tow my cargo trailer behind our motorhome on a recent 1000+ mile vacation trip. Installation was easy, no paint in the threaded section where the clamping bolt threads in. These snap-up clamps worked flawlessly and did not bend, stretch or loosen under load.

by:

Solid pieces, should be stronger than the standard brackets I was using with my lighter spring bars. Only glitch was that the threads required chasing with a 1/2 - 13 tap due to paint in the threads and minor damage around the thread opening. felt like forcing the bolt through would have caused damage.

by:

Just received my lift brackets , a HUGE improvement on the original Reese brackets that came with my hitch back in 2004 !
so glad that I left my old ones on my trailer when I sold some time back !With great prices and fast and FREE shipping , what more can you ask for !

by:

I got great service when I called E Trailer. I needed parts to my load leveling system and the sales representative I spoke with was great. I received the exact parts I needed. Thanks.

  • Looking For Replacement Parts For A Quality S Weight Distribution System
Quality S is not a brand of weight distribution system we carry, so I cannot say if replacements that we have from other brands will fit properly, unfortunately. I was also unable to find any information about this brand. With that said, the best recommendation I can make is to replace the system with a brand that is still being produced and has replacement parts readily and easily available. The Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # RP66084, as an example, can...

  • Gap Between Frame and Bracket Utilizing Snap-Up Brackets
The Snap-Up brackets like # PS58362 and # 58392 are designed to have some space between the frame and the back side of the bracket. As long as the bolt is holding the frame and bracket tight, the system will work properly. This bracket is designed to be compatible with many frames so the gap is not at all uncommon. The top of the bracket should rest on the trailer frame where able and the Snap-Up Side should rest along the frame as well. As long as those two areas are tight to the frame,...

  • Can Reese Titan Weight Distribution be Installed on Two Trailers
To install the Reese Titan Weight Distribution # RP66006 on a second trailer would basically just require you to install a second set of frame brackets on the trailer. The replacement brackets are sold individually as part # 58392. You would need two. Aside from that you would need to set the system up for each trailer with the correct amount of spring bar tension based on the tongue weight.

If your weight distribution system uses the lift brackets, like # RP21501, or # 58392, my contact at Reese stated that you can use it on a trailer with a C-channel frame. The 3 inch bolt is long enough that it will work with C-channel frames. So provided that it has a weight capacity that can handle your trailer, you will be able to use the weight distribution system. Given the weight of your trailer it would be recommended to use an extra bolt. Since the set screw is normally the only...
