Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the ProGrip Toploader Tie Down Strap. This tie down strap basically helps secure your cargo to your ladder rack. It is designed to work on square bar racks and 2" round bar racks. The packaging that it comes in is actually an adapter for round bar applications, which is a really nice design. Whatever you do, just be sure not to discard the packaging. When you open the product, it comes like this.
And so as you can see there, it would mount and that packaging becomes the adapter for 2" round bar racks. You can break off this bottom piece and the top piece. That way it's much cleaner once it's installed. This unit uses a double J-hook design. It securely hooks to your anchor point. The unit comes with two built-in attachment points.
I'm going to show you those here. If you have this on a square rack, you can take this, run it over your gear or under your gear, bring it around top and then you can actually hook it back to itself. You've got this attachment point here. Also, you can see that it has a D-ring on it. According to the instructions, the D-ring can be used in that configuration there and create a loop tie down point around a secure crossmember or anchor. Two tie down options are built in, but you could also just run this to the other side of your rack and connect it to a suitable anchor tie down or connection point as well.
On this side we have the large release lever, makes releasing the tension quick and easy. Also you push that to feed the strap out from the ratcheting mechanism. That way you can run it around your load and secure your gear. The large knob on the side, that's this one here. This allows you to operate the ratcheting mechanism.
Very easy to use. It's got an easy grip design to it, and that know is constructed of a durable plastic construction. The rest of the unit is made from durable steel. We have zinc plated finishing on the J-hook, on the D-ring, and on the assembly and then on the actual bracket. We have a black powder coated finish. So all of that finishing is designed to resist rust and corrosion. The strap is a yellow polyester webbing. It's very strong and durable and highly visible. There's several methods of tensioning. You can get this hand tight but you also want to make sure that you get it fully tightened down. That's using this mechanism over here. To get it fully tightened, or to increase tensioning, you can use a 3/4" wrench. You can use a 3/8" drive socket wrench, or you can use the included torque bar. You could place this in there. It's got a finger indention here that we can get an easy grip design on it, get proper tension and tighten everything down securely. It does come with a keeper that can be mounted to hold the torque bar in place, so you don't accidentally forget it or misplace it or lose it. When it comes to the dimensions of the strap, it measures when it comes to the width, 1-1/2" wide by 8' long. Safe working load limit is 500 pounds. Maximum load or break strength rating is 1,500 pounds. A few measurements here with the bracket. Edge to edge measures about 5". Measuring just the L-shape here, the angle iron, going this direction is 1-11/16, and going this direction is about 1-3/4", maybe 1-13/16". The nail holes are all elongated. They measure 3/8" wide by 1-5/16" long. Mounting hardware not included but it does come with those detailed installation instructions to help walk you through the entire process step by step. That's going to do it for today's look at the ProGrip Toploader Tie Down Strap.

I got this version because my rack has a square tube on this truck. these things are great. they are fast and easy to use and tight, but I liked your other brand which had grey webbing. The problem with these for me isthat the ratchet is hard to hold up and the knob tight. the other is a simple ratchet that one holds up and you can pull the webbing out quick. Both came from etrailer. Great in general!
Great product

Still working great after a year. The ends of the straps are starting to fade from the sun but doesnt look like it is affecting the strength yet. I expect another couple years before the need to be replaced
