Pro Series Accessories and Parts - RP30092

Features:

  • Provides the clearance required for your short-bed pickup truck to safely complete slow-speed turns
    • Increases space between the cab and the trailer, allowing for greater turning clearance
      • Moves hitch and trailer king pin 10" closer to the tailgate of your truck
    • Locks in place between the truck cab and the rear axle for highway towing
  • Works with Pro Series 15,000-lb, 16,000-lb and 20,000-lb 5th-wheel trailer hitches
  • Slides smoothly with 4-roller design
  • Can be fully adjusted with trailer attached
  • Includes rubber grip handle that can be mounted on either side of slider
  • Designed for use on trucks with beds shorter than 8'
  • Fits Curt, Valley, Draw-Tite, Hidden-Hitch and Reese base rails

Specs:

  • Application: Pro Series 15,000-lb, 16,000-lb and 20,000-lb 5th-wheel trailer hitches
  • Travel: 10" front to back
  • 10-Year limited warranty

Note: A minimum 13" extender trailer pin box is recommended. If using a slider, hitch will not adjust to lowest height setting.

When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be positioned on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, a slider may be used to move the fifth-wheel hitch and the trailer closer to your truck's tailgate and create enough space between your truck cab and the corner of your trailer to safely execute a slow-speed turn.

When you are making a 45-degree turn in a truck with a bed shorter than 8' and no slider, the corner of your fifth-wheel trailer may strike the back of your truck's cab.

By installing a slider with 10" of travel, you can eliminate the interference between trailer and truck cab in turns up to 80 degrees.

Video Transcript for Pro Series Fifth Wheel Hitch Review

Today we are going to show you the Pro Series line of fifth wheel hitches. The Pro Series family of fifth wheels is a great way for people new to the fifth wheeling hobby to get into it without investing a whole lot of money. They are also a nice fit for a budget conscious fifth wheel tower. The Pro Series fifth wheel hitches are available in 15000 15K, 16000 16K, and 20000 20K pound capacities. All of these hitches include the basic functions and features needed to properly tow a fifth wheel trailer. 00:26

First up is the Pro Series 15K pound head. This head features a four-way pivot both front to back and the top plate goes side to side. The side to side pivot allows a full five degrees for easy hook up even on uneven ground. The 15K Pro Series also uses a less expensive slide bar stop to lock the king pin into the head. Next we have the Pro Series 16K head. This head is a fully floating head that provides plenty of movement side to side and front to back. This will help the fifth wheel track easier when traveling and it also makes hook up very easy. It features the same slide bar latching mechanism as the 15K but it features a fully floating head. The fully floating head will allow the fifth wheel to track a little bit easier, make hooking and unhooking the trailer easy. 01:16

Finally we have the Pro Series 20K pound head. Again the head is fully floating but this time with the increased capacity we also use double locking jaws. The double locking jaws provide more contact around the king pin and will help reduce noise. It also features a lockable latch. The latch allows you to secure and lock the jaws to prevent them from coming open when traveling. The Pro Series family of fifth wheel hitches uses traditional above bed fifth wheel rails to attach to the truck. The height of the head is adjustable from 13 to 17 inches. This includes a three year warranty. There is also a Pro Series slider kit available part number RP30092. The Pro Series family of hitches includes a 15K pound hitch part number PS30093, a 16K pound hitch part number PS30089, as well as a 20K pound hitch part number PS30119.

- RP30092

by: Rodney W07/16/2015

I own a 2007 3/4 ton GMC Truck extended cab short box. I have had my 5th wheel RV for several years with no problem until the other day when I put the corner of my RV through the back windshield. I went to E.trailer and read some of the reviews and other information on the slider rails product # 30092. It was an easy enough install with everything fitting into place with no problem. The shipping was fast and I received it within 5 days it might of been faster but I ordered on the weekend. Before I received my order I had some questions and called E.Trailer and they answered them all for me. I would highly recommend this product and company 212215

I just received the product and will install it this weekend. I'm sure the product itself will be just fine and the delivery was great. The one item which I found frustrating was the fact that I emailed a question and received no response even after I followed up about one week after my initial request. I finally ordered this produce even though I wasn't sure it was the right fit for my situation. I find that very disconserting especially after having such good service in the past. 21126

easy to install , but a bit fickle , have to have al the king pin weight off slider to get it to lock in position , so not easy peasy , I rounded edges and cleaned up surface for lock pin but no , gotta jack 5th wheel up to change forward / backward , so might be 2 repositions 264716

  • 5th Wheel Hitch Options for a 2005 Ford F-150 with a 5-1/2 ft Bed
  • The slider legs for the Pro Series 16K fifth wheel hitch are part # RP30092, however, we do not recommend using a sliding hitch on a truck with a bed shorter than 6 ft. A sliding hitch will not provide enough clearance to safely execute sharp turns on your 2005 Ford F-150 with a 5-1/2 ft bed. Instead, I recommend using a fixed fifth wheel hitch and adding a sidewinder pin box to your trailer. A sidewinder pin box will provide an additional 22 inches of clearance allowing you to make...

  • 5th Wheel Installation Kit for a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 and Reese Pro Series 15K Hitch
  • For your 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 and Pro Series 5th wheel trailer hitch, you can use Reese semi-custom installation kit # RP30035-023. It will fit on short or long beds. If you do have a short bed, you would need a slider hitch to provide additional clearance for making tight turns. You can add a slider to the Pro Series head using # RP30092. I have included a link to the installation instructions for the kit for you to view.

  • Parts Needed to Install Reese Hitch # 30032 on a 2011 Dodge Ram 3500 Mega-Cab Dually
  • Since the 2011 Dodge Ram 3500 Mega-Cab Dually is a short bed you will need to make sure that you will be using a Reese hitch that is a slider hitch. The slider is needed on a short bed truck to gain the clearance that is needed to clear the truck cab with the fifth wheel trailer when making tight turns. The Reese hitch # 30032 is a old part number. If it is not a slider hitch you will need to remove the hitch head and bolt it to the Reese Pro Series Fifth Wheel Slider, part # RP30092....

  • Slider Recommendation for a Reese 15k 5th Wheel Hitch
  • If it is a Pro Series 15K hitch, you should be able to un-bolt the head from the fixed legs and then bolt it to this slider, part # RP30092. You would lose the lowest hitch height setting when switching from fixed legs to a slider. If it is not a Pro Series model, you can use part # RP30048. It is built for standard Reese heads 15-18K. I spoke with my contact at Reese to confirm this.

  • Difference Between the Reese Slider # RP30048 and Pro Series Slider # RP30092
  • The biggest difference between the Pro-Series Slider # RP30092 and Reese Slider # RP30048 is the number of rollers in the slider. The # RP30092 uses 4 rollers whereas the # RP30048 uses 6 rollers to provide a smoother sliding action. That is why there is a price difference in what seems like two very similar products. I attached installation instructions for both products.

  • Need for Sliding Fifth Wheel Hitch with Short Bed Truck
  • The hitch and trailer manufacturers recommend the use of a fifth wheel hitch with slider on trucks with beds between 6 and 8 feet long. The fact that your camper has an extended pin box will provide you with some more clearance, and improve the chances that your will be able to negotiate 90 degree turns without having the trailer loft strike the rear of your truck cab, but using a slider is still strongly recommended. You can use a Kwik Slide Fifth Wheel Slider for Fifth Wheel Trailer...

  • I spoke with my contact at Reese and he said that the Reese 15K head # 30032 will fit into the Pro Series Fifth Wheel Slider, part # RP30092. He said as long as it is a Reese product the mounting dimensions will be the same on the Reese slider unit as it is on a Reese fixed leg hitch. Sidewinder pin boxes are designed to fit specific OEM pin boxes, so if you can tell me the manufacturer and model number of your pin box (Lippert 1621, Fabex PB-600, Leland 7921, etc.), then I can recommend a specific sidewinder that will work for you....
