Video Transcript for Pro Series Detachable Caster with Pin Review

Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Pro Series 6" Detachable Castor with Pin for 2" Diameter Jacks. Offering a 1,200 pound capacity, the part number is PS1400750340. This castor wheel is designed to allow you to easily maneuver your trailer around. As you can see, as we go side to side, the castor rotates. That way, we can maneuver it around. Generally, these are going to work out best on a flat surface, concrete, asphalt, things like that.

This wheel in gravel, sand, mud, dirt, it's going to want to sink in slightly or not roll as smoothly, so definitely keep that in mind. But overall, it can help maneuvering, especially moving it around by hand. The one thing you want the keep in mind, I don't like moving a trailer around on this wheel with the jack all the way up. If we extend this jack out too far, it puts a lot of pressure on the connection point up here as we're maneuvering it. So just keep that in mind.

But all in all, it's going to do a really good job at helping you move your trailer around from here to there.Overall, the construction is nice and heavy duty. It has a good feel to it. I don't think we're going to have to worry about flex side-to-side or anything like that. All the steel, you can see, has that white zinc coating on it, so corrosion should be kept to a minimum. Our pin here is easy to attach and detach.

Generally, I don't like to keep one of these on as I'm going down the road, just in case the pin we're to fail or something like that. We're going to have the six inch tall wheel, so that can help with little obstacles we might encounter to help roll over it instead of it get stuck. That wheel is also going to be two inches wide. So while it's not exactly designed for softer surfaces, that will help to dissipate that energy out a little bit so it doesn't sink in as badly. To get your caster installed, you'll either want your trailer hooked up to your vehicle, or you can place a couple of jack stands underneath the tongue. Then we need to lift our jack up to give us the room we need to get it slid on.

Once that's up high enough, we'll slide the wheel on, place our pin through, and then just clip it on. At that point, of course, you can see it's also going to act as a slight lift for your trailer, so you won't have to move your jack quite so far up and down. Now we're ready to remove our jack stands and it's going to be ready for use. That's going to complete our look at the Pro Series 6" Detachable Caster with Pin for 2" Diameter Jacks.

Yep, its a wheel for the tongue jack. Fit and works just fine. I don't think I'd want to try rolling it around with 1200lbs on it, but its plenty solid enough for me, especially for the price. Good value!

Comments
After one year still fine. It does its job and its held up. My trailer gets rolled around a lot on dirt and concrete and its been fine. Very good value.

This item does the job I intended. My enclosed motorcycle trailer came with a sand pad only. This sand pad is the right thing for most of what I need it for. However, the trailer jack wheel in this review did its job one time. This is not to say it failed after one time. I am saying I've only used it ONCE and it performed well. It is considerably taller than the sand pad, so with the sand pad attached to the jack I had to jack up the front of the trailer with its jack as far as it would go, drive under the top of the drop hitch with the tongue of the trailer and slowly lower the trailer down on TOP of the 4" drop hitch (wheels chocked on the trailer, of course). Then, after raising the jack all the way back up, I very carefully removed the sand pad and replaced it with the caster. Once that was done, I screwed the jack back down until it rested on the caster. I was then able to position the trailer into it's tight parking spot front-end first at the hotel. FINALLY! We were all set for a week of riding the beautiful mountains of Colorado!

Great! Only had to use it once though.

This is a Great jack wheel to keep the trailer "UP" when the jack is holding the tongue up off the ground. No need for blocks etc. maybe put something flat under the wheel like an old frying pan, piece of steel etc. so it doesn't sink into mud. It also helps if you want to roll the trailer around on most surfaces as you don't have to lift the tongue of the trailer.

Easy to install and good quality product. The length of the tire is big enough to roll it over a grass. It make it easy for my 5x8ft Big Tex trailer. The video that describe the product before I place an order was VERY informative.

Here are some pictures of what I used your product for. The splitter just had a fixed position stand and it is fairly heavy so it was difficult to hook to the ranger because the stand had to be removed first. Now I can just let it down to the hitch and with the wheel I can also move it around the shop without lifting it. We also put an extra mount on the back so the wood falling from the splitter would not damage it. Thanks for the good service,

This item works exactly as described. You simply slide this onto the jack post and insert the pin. Walla! you now have a movable trailer.

I choose to purchase an inexpensive caster since it's for a utility trailer that I only use 2 or 3 times a year. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the item. It was much better than the caster I had to replace. This is my third purchase from etrailer, the first two being trailer hitches. I've always been satisfied with the qualiity of the items and the first class service from etrailer.

I recently purchased an expensive Aluminum utility trailer. Unfortunately, it came with a tongue jack with a post pad making it impossible for me to maneuver it tight storage spaces when unhooked from my tow vehicle. The Tongue Jack wheel assembly I ordered from you folks is just what the Doctor ordered. It's rugged design and construction will last a lifetime and its simple yet adequate safety pin allows for one person installation and removal. This accessory has made my trailering tasks much easier

Item was delivered exactly as described by other viewers. It was built much heavier than I expected and will work great on my utility trailer. This wheel allows me to roll my trailer around in my garage or paved parking lots much easier and with less strain on my back. P.Stimp

Needed a wheel and found this was the best deal on the internet and local RV stores. It fit properly and rolled just fine as a hard rubber wheel. No complaints at all, it did what is was designed to do and is stout enough to last many years. No it won't roll in gravel. It did roll in hard packed dirt/pea gravel. We have a teardrop trailer so we can unhitch and roll the trailer by hand.

I roll my 5' x 8' trailer around a lot from truck to storage, etc. This wheel has done a great job, even with some light loads in the trailer. It may hang down a little below your original foot, so consider taking it off before towing. With my set-up it "might" touch occasionally so I take it off to drive. It's only a second or two to switch it out.

  • Replacement Caster Wheel for Haul Master Jack with 2" Tube
I have a solution for you, but the # PS1400750340 is not going to be the heaviest rated caster wheel for your Haul Master jack. You can instead use the # BDCP555, which is rated for 1500-lbs and will work just fine for you as long as the tongue weight on your trailer is not greater than 1500-lbs.

The jack tube would fit in the top of the Pro Series Detachable Caster, # PS1400750340. I have attached a review video of a Pro Series jack that shows how the wheel caster installs. If you would like, you can skip to the 3 minute and 40 second mark to see the wheel caster installed on the jack. The inner diameter of this wheel caster is a hair larger than 2 inches, so it will work well with any jack tube that has an outer diameter of 2 inches. Keep in mind, using the caster will...

  • Can a Jack Wheel be Used on a 7,000 Pound Tiny House
Wheels such as # PS1400750340 are for jacks and jacks are at one end of a trailer. This means they are not bearing the whole weight of the trailer. You would need to determine how much weight there is where you want the wheel to go. For that you could use a tongue weight scale, # 5780. If the weight in that location is less than the capacity of a wheel you can use the wheel. If the tongue weight is less than 1000 pounds another option is to use the Trailer Valet trailer mover # TVXL2....

The Pro Series Jack Wheel, # PS1400750340, has a capacity of 1,200 pounds. Since the weight that will be on it is the tongue weight, maybe a little higher depending on where the jack is positioned, the wheel should be able to support the weight without issue. If the trailer weighed in at 7,500 pounds and the tongue weight was at 10 to 15 percent, that would be a range of 750 to 1,125 pounds. The upper capacity is close to the capacity of the wheel but still under it. At 3,500 pounds,...
