Speaker 1: Today you're getting a look at how to wire the Mighty Cord Replacement Twist Lock Connector for RVs. This is the female 50 amp end. It's part number A10-50FDT. Don't replace your 50 amp power cord just because the plug is broken. Whether you've run it over or otherwise damaged it, it can easily be replaced with the Mighty Cord 50 Amp Twist Lock Connector. It's a weatherproof replacement with a rubber grommet to keep out dust, debris, and the elements. Now that we've gone over the features, I'll go ahead and show you how you can wire it up.
First thing you want to do with all electrical is unplug it and make sure there's no power running to it. For the other end, we've removed our damaged plug. I've cut back the jacket about an inch and a half, being sure not to cut any of the insulation. I've also stripped back the wire about a half an inch for each wire. Now we can set that aside and turn our attention to our plug. For this, you'll just need a flathead screwdriver.
You can start by loosening up the two flathead screws here on the plug. You don't need to take them all the way out, just loosen them up. Then you can pull it apart. With it taken apart, now you can unscrew the strain relief. By doing this, it's going to make it a little bit easier to connect our wires.
Now you can loosen up your connectors. The screws for those are located on the side. Again, we don't need to take them all the way out, just loosen them up.Now you'll want to bring your cable back in and slide on your cover. To make this easier, it's a good idea to bunch up the wires, and we'll just slide it on. You may have to twist it a little bit, and slide it on so we still have plenty of room to work with our wires.
Now, the connectors are color coded, so you'll just be matching color for color. The unpainted one is our black, so you can start there. It's a good idea to kind of clean up the copper a little bit. Now, when you slide it into place, you'll want to make sure that it's open. You can see on these two, they are not, so you have to push on them to open them up. You'll take your black and fit it into place. Once it's all the way in and there's no visible wire, you can tighten it down. You can attach the remaining wires the same way. After that's finished, you can reconnect your strain relief. It simply just folds back into place. You want to be sure you get it nice and secure, that way it can't become disconnected. Now you're ready to slide your cover back in place. There's a little notch just on the inside of the cover. You'll want to line it up with the channel here. Just take your finger, and you can feel for it just on the inside of the cover. Once you know where it's at, you can slide it back in place. Be sure you push it all the way on. Now you can retighten the last two flathead screws. I'm just going to get them both started. That way you can tighten them down evenly. Now you're ready to connect to your RV. Now you've had a good look at the Mighty Cord Replacement Twist Lock Connector for RVs, the 50 amp female end. Part number A10-50FDT.
