Essential Measurements
If you are eying the Safe-T-Rail and think you'd really like to upgrade your trailer with this unique design, the next thing you need to eye is the side of your RV. This will work perfectly on many trailers, but there are some situations that might make it incompatible or require some extra work during installation.
The Safe-T-Rail needs to be mounted on a completely flat surface that is free of any obstructions. The bottom bracket will hug the corner of the door frame at the bottom (as shown). So check the following things:
If you have rubber seals or trim that can be removed, that's OK. Just know you will need to be ready with the tools to cut and seal those areas to prevent any water damage.
When you remove your old grab handle, you're going to need to be ready to repair the screw holes to prevent any water damage. This can be done with some simple silicone caulk or sealant. You'll also need caulk or butyl tape to seal the screw holes when mounting the Safe-T-Rail to keep moisture out.
There are 2 upper mounting brackets included. The longer bracket may be needed to cover up screw holes from your old grab handle. This not only helps to keep out moisture, but it makes sure the outside of your RV still looks nice. If the shorter bracket covers any old screw holes, the longer one is not used.
This is a pretty decent product but it was not a direct replacement for the one that got damaged on my Brinkley. The holes for the fasteners were in different places and not as many and I had to cut the bottom bracket because of some trim at the belt line. I got it to work it was just more troublesome than I thought it would be.
I didn't think I would use it but after installing it I know I,m going to. I got it mostly for my wife
The railing seems to be very good quality and functions perfectly. Installation was well documented on the instructions and did not take much time. Very happy with it.
We have yet to install the handle but will do so this evening. I’m so impressed with how fast it was delivered. I ordered it st 9:09 pm last night, it had already shipped by 9:46 pm and was delivered to my door step around 11:45 am today. Talk about service. We’ve never had any complaints either any of our orders from etrailer.com. Thanks for the exceptional service.

My fiance purchased your torklift stairs for our truck camper. I purchased this hand rail to help with balance issues on the stairs. It's works perfectly. I would have given this 5 stars but a nylon washer and a nut were missing. The second washer and bolt we're just loose in the box. It was an easy fix. Altogether though I love the steps and the handrail. Easy to open and close. Sturdy enough to feel safe.
Received the order in two days. The shipping box was damaged but no damage to handrail or lost items. I do not feel the damaged packaging was the fault of etrailer.
Very pleased with the quality of the handrail. No issues with the installation of the handrail on my truck slid-in camper. It is very sturdy. A great addition to our camper.

This rail will work nicely with my new Brophy 4 step just added to my 1999 Lance 1010 truck camper. My wife and I will appreciate the extra safety factor.
The product is fantastic but the directions are really poor. I had to watch a video to know that there were 2 choices for the upper bracket. There actually is no complete picture of the product with the optional bracket installed nor any mention of the fact in the installation instructions that it is optional. We scratched our heads for some time before (watching a video). Your pic in the instrutions are too close up to be helpful.
Have not installed yet due to trailer being serviced. They are solid hand rails and the fact they will reach to end of stairs is what sold me
Easy to install and covers my three step entry. Should have been standard for any RV with three steps.

Excellent choice for RV handrail. Instructions were provided but you get better guidance from the video.
The video was very helpful for installation. Love the product. It makes it so much easier to get up the stairs into our RV.
It does help for us older people but for the cost it seems pretty flimsy.

We’d been looking at these since the Tampa RV Show 2 years ago, but I was hesitant to try it because, based upon the installation instructions, I would have to cut a piece of trim beside the door. Finally decided to give it a shot. We couldn’t be more pleased with this product. Installation was far easier than I had expected, and the Safe-T-Rail is far more sturdy than the previous hand/grab rail that we had. Highly recommend the product and eTrailer.
This is going to be a great addition to our RV!

Gives you a better handle for getting up stairs.
Product is fine. Directions included are awful. Watched your video and like the written instructions it skips the part about extending the rail to expose the second whole from the top. Sounds simple but everything starts with exposing that hole and getting that first screw in place. One other comment I would like to add. I wish the textured rail surface was more of a rubberized material to offer a better grip

works just the same as day 1. My wife loves it and able to go up and down the steps a lot easier
