Hey everybody. Ryan here at Etrailer. Today we're gonna be checking out the replacement zero-leak mounting hardware kit for max air standard vent covers. So it seems like there's a few popular reasons why many of our customers choose to pick up this kit. And the big one is, they actually lost some of the hardware whenever they were, you know, driving down the road. And it happens.

You know, sometimes the bolts can come loose, or they weren't properly installed before. You know, you can, your vent comes loose, bolt comes out, and now you need some new nuts and bolts to keep everything down. The vents still in good shape. So, why bother with that You just need a way to attach it, and so this kit is gonna work perfect for that. You know you're gonna get everything you need to get it done right.

Another, what seems to be pretty popular reason, is a lot of people get these campers or motor homes used. And a lot of times have people say, "Hey, I got these upgrades, you know, that come with it I never got around to installing 'em." And so on. You know, it happens pretty frequently actually. And so you get up here to put them on and realize, how do I bolt these up Cause there's no hardware. Somehow that hardware got misplaced or whatever the case may be.

Again, this kit's gonna give you everything you need to get one vent properly installed. Or, just kind of thinking outside the box, maybe another reason is you just wanna replace it. You know, maybe you're up here putting a new roof on or doing some repairs up here, whatever the case may be, and you'd rather just have that peace of mind knowing everything's fresh and the way it should be. So why bother with the old stuff Get yourself a new kit, have it new, make sure it's right and call it a day. So the kit is gonna come with everything you need to get one vent installed.

So you got four brackets, one for each corner, and these are aluminum. So, you know, no rust issues there, and all of the hardware comes with it as well. And the nuts and bolts, washers, everything like that, are stainless steel. So, nothing to worry about there either as far as rust and things like that go. Now they say this is no-leak. And, that's true because you're not actually gonna have to drill into your roof itself to secure these brackets, that way you can get your vent on. And so the way it's gonna work, we can kind of see it right here on this bottom portion at least. The bracket's gonna connect to your existing roof vent. Then you're gonna have a carriage bolt that comes up through the bottom of the bracket through your vent. It'll put on a star washer, which is a lock washer, and then a nut. And that's going to actually hold the plastic vent down to the bracket. Now, the way the bracket connects and stays sturdy is inside using your existing roof vent. Now, we can't see it here because this one on here is black. So, we can't see through it, but let's go to one of our original vents that does not have a max air cover on it and take a better look. The way that this inside portion of the bracket is going to get attached to something sturdy. So it's going to hold onto your cover is by using the housing here. This edge from your factory type thing, cover theres. So you're going to hold it up flat there, where you need it, drill a small hole and then take your machine screw. That's going to go through the bracket and through the metal portion on your original vent. Then on the backside of it, when it's through there obviously you don't have a hole drilled right here but it'll take the flat washer, a split lock washer, and the nut. We'll put that together and tighten it down. And that's going to keep that part secure. I have heard some people say it'd be nice if they included a nylon lock nut, which I can definitely see the reasoning behind that. Like I said, the kit does come with a split lock washer, but you know, to be honest with you, going over these big bumps, going highway speeds, things like that, I feel like a nylon lock washer would have a slight advantage here. Those things rarely ever back off but kind of same is true for the spill lock washer. Not a huge deal. These are going to keep it as long as you properly tighten it. Chances are good. It's not going to come loose. So just to kind of go over a couple of measurements to be certain that these will work for your cover. The bracket's going to be an inch and a half wide from the long side here from end-to-end. That's gonna be two and seven eighths of an inch. And if you go to the short angle from here to here that's going to be a one inch. So at the end of the day, you know, a really handy kit. It's going to come with everything you need and you know it's going to work and it's going to save you a trip to the hardware store, trying to go through everything and put together a combination that you hope will work.
