Video Transcript for Lets Go Aero Fat Tire Adapter Kit Review

Today we're going to be reviewing the Fat Tire Adapter Kit for Let's Go Aero VMEV2 Hitch Bike Rack, part number BMP038. The adapters allow you to carry one fat tire bike on your Let's Go Aero VMEV2 Bike Rack. That part number is VME-V2. The larger, deeper cradles replace your front and rear cradles. We're just going to show you the driver side now. We're going to start by removing our clip and our pin. We can set those off to the side to use for later if we'd like. I did not order the Fat Tire Adapter Kit when I ordered the Let's Go Aero VeeMe V2 bike rack. The term "fat tire" used to refer to the tires on mountain bikes, but has come to apply specifically to a new breed of bikes that look like they have motorcycle tires on them. Ours are mountain bikes, so I went with the regular hooks. Big mistake. Yes, the Fat Tire kit appears to handle this new type of bike, but in our case was also necessary for our mountain bikes. The standard hooks would not accommodate the front suspension forks. With the Fat Tire Kit, there is room to spare. Still a bit tricky to load the bike which goes between the rack and the tailgate of our truck, but this lets us have the entire pickup bed for hauling gear and so forth. Our main reason for the purchase is that we travel with a fifth wheel trailer for many months at a time. It was a mess hauling bikes in the trailer living room, and now I can have a hitch receiver installed on the back of the trailer and we will be good to go. And now the bikes will fit the rack. Space is at a premium when living for over half a year in a trailer, and this rack can quickly be broken down and stored out of the way while we are set up some place for a longer term. etrailer.com has always been good to me. 210173

Since a year ago, we purchased a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. This has worked out rather well for us, as when we park , we can remove the V arms and put them inside the Jeep and no one can run off with them. The mount is screwed into place with a threaded pin which, in my opinion should be standard on all s into hitch receivers. The one problem with the Jeep is the bulge in the rear door. We solved that problem simply by putting a can cozy on the rough pedal on the bike which mounts on the inside of the rack. Since where we stay in Arizona, there is no safe way to get to a good riding road, that rack is a regular fixture on the back of the Jeep.

It's good with one exception... it actually needs to come with 4 straps. The pegs and straps are perfect for securing the tires on the low end. However, without having longer straps for the upper portion, there's no way to actually secure the upper end. I called customer service at Aero and they shipped me 2 more straps. So, if you order this, expect to call Aero to get more straps or find another way to strap the upper end. 589548

Works good for mounting wider tires (3" for me) on the rack. Its secure but I wish it was a little deeper vertically. 455342

Lets Go Aero Vme V2 bike carrier and fat tire adapter - products work as described, I have an SE Fat Ripper that goes on the carrier without any issues and no damage to the bike after hauling it down the freeway multiple times, not even a mark on the paint where it is pulled against the arms (nice foam pads already installed on the arms) and nothing on the rims where it rests on the pegs. The product does have some wobble at the receiver, but it has not been an issue - actually the way the pin goes into the receiver is more of a bolt that can be tightened up with a safety pin for added security. For the price you won't find a better product I highly recommend them. 401315

Everything still works like the day I took it out of the box - I was worried the bungeeā€™s would stretch over time, but after a year no issues and the bike is held in place without movement - still a great product

The "fat tire" adapter works fine with my bike, which has conventional tires, but also has a rear cargo rack fitted on the bike. The original short "v" hangers do not allow the rear tire to "seat" properly in the "v" and jams the cargo rack into the upright. The adapter, which I use only on the rear tire of this bike, has solved the problem by allowing the space needed to accommodate the cargo rack. 298250

Does exactly what it's supposed to - enables the VeeMe rack to carry a fat bike. Works perfectly for my Sondors Ebike. 233714

Do you have a question about this Accessories and Part?

  • Inexpensive 4 Bike Rack for Fat Tire Bikes
  • I do have an option for you but the Reese Q-Slot Platform-Style 2 Bike and 4 Bike Rack part # PS63138 will only accept a tire up to 2-3/4" wide and they do not make a fat tire adapter kit for this rack. Therefore, I recommend taking a look at either the Lets Go Aero BikeWing T4 part # B01458 with the Fat Tire Adapter Kit part # BMP038 or the Curt 4 Bike Platform Rack part # C18087 as they will be the two most cost effective options we have for you to carry four bikes on a platform style...

  • Bike Rack Needed for Kayak Clearance When Using the Stromberg Carlson Bike Bunk
  • I do have a few alternative bike racks that you can potentially use with the Stromberg Carlson Bike Bunk # CC-275. Just for reference, the Thule T2 Pro XTS # TH9034XTS that you currently use measures 41-1/2" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the farthest edge of the bike rack. If you want to stick with the Thule brand then the Thule T2 Classic # TH9044 only measures 36" from the hitch pin hole to the end of the bike rack. This is the base model version of the T2 Pro that you...

  • Fat Tire Adapter Recommendation for Lets Go Aero BikeWing Bike Rack

  • Will the BikeWing Hold a Fat Bike with 3 Inch Knobby Tires
  • In order to use the BikeWing # B01311 with a fat bike like the Huffy Warhawk I recommend using the fat bike adapter # BMP038. However, it is possible you may not even need the adapter. According to the specs on that bike the tires are 3 inches wide. It would be very tight on the standard cradles and straps on the BikeWing but could work. But if it were me I would go ahead and add the adapter # BMP038 to ensure you have no problems.

  • Using the Fat Tire Adapter Kit for the Let's Go Aero Bike Wing on a Reese Adventure SportWing
  • The Fat Tire Adapter Kit for the Let's Go Aero Bike Wing, part # BMP038 may work on your Reese Sportwing. I did go out to the warehouse and measure the holes on the straps, and the small hole that would go inside towards the frame of the carrier is 3/8 inches wide, and the holes that would connect to the outside of the carrier is about 1/2 inches wide.

  • Fat Bike Wheel Cradle For Lets Go Aero BikeWing Hitch Mounted Bike Carrier
  • The Let's Go Aero BikeWing 2-Bike Rack, part # B01311 cradles will not accommodate fat bike wheels but we do have an option. The fat bike wheel cradles can be purchased as a separate item. The package comes with 2 cradles, enough to carry one bike. You would need to order part # BMP038.

  • Recommended Bumper Mount Hitch And Bike Carrier For 19-Ft Travel Trailer
  • The bumper-mounted bike carriers we offer have a weight limit of 35 lbs per bike. I called the manufacturer for your fat bikes(thank you for the photo), and they told me that the bikes weigh approximately 45 lbs each. The bumper-mount carriers will not work but I may have a solution that will work for you. I recommend using a bumper mounted trailer hitch receiver like part # S64025, and a hitch-mounted bike carrier. The S64025 is designed to fit continuous-weld 4 x 4 inch steel bumpers....

  • Do I Need the Fat Tire Adapter Kit for Lets Go Aero # BikeWing Bike Rack
  • The standard cradles on the Let's Go Aero # B01311 will accommodate your 2-1/2 inch wide tires just fine, you won't need the # BMP038 Fat Tire Adapter. Fat Bikes have tires that are at least 3-3/4 inches wide, quite a bit wider than the ones on your bike.

  • BikeWing Bike Rack Compatibility with Bikes with Rear Mounted Cargo Rack
  • The Lets Go Aero BikeWing-2 2-Bike Rack # B01311 has cradles that are 5 inches long at the plastic coating and the fat bike adapter # BMP038 has a length of 6-3/4 inches long at the plastic coating, so I'm confident that your bikes will work with this bike rack. The bottom pin won't be an issue, but depending on where you want to attach the cradle to your tire will determine if you will be able to use the standard cradle or if you will need to get the fat bike adapter to make the cradle...

  • A front-mounted hitch is often a nice alternative method for using a hitch-mount bike rack, especially when you're already towing a trailer with your rear-mount hitch. Plus having a front hitch means that it can be a lot easier to maneuver your trailer into a campsite or into its storage location and one also allows you to use a hitch-mounted snowplow such as # K2AVAL8219. • Are Longer Straps Needed for Bottom Cradles to Carry Fat Bike on a BikeWing Bike Rack

But she did also say that since they have had this very question before they will be making the longer straps available very soon.
