I ordered this switch from [online] 3 different times and I received the incorrect part each time.
I then ordered it from trailer and received the correct switch today. I installed it and now my Kwikee steps works again. We are leaving for a trip this weekend and trailer saved the day.
    Thank You etrailer

    • Why Would New RV Steps Operate Backwards when Door is Open and Closed
The problem is you do have the wrong switch for your door sensor. Whenever we hear that the steps are working in reverse that usually means you have the incorrect door switch, normally closed vs normally open or it is installed wrong. For a normally closed door switch we have the Lippert Components Kwikee Round Magnetic Door Switch part # LC379400 and for a normally open door switch we have the Lippert Components Kwikee Pleated Plunger Door Switch part # LC379407. My guess is that maybe...

    • Kwikee Model 39 Plunger Door Switch Replacement
You have an older version of the Kwikee 39 Series RV step which used the type of plunger switch you described that is no longer available but you can use the part # LC379407 that you referenced.

    • Picking Out Replacement Door Switch Solution for Kwikee RV Steps that Work in Reverse
For a normally closed door switch we have the Lippert Components Kwikee Round Magnetic Door Switch part # LC379400 and for a normally open door switch we have the Lippert Components Kwikee Pleated Plunger Door Switch part # LC379407. So in your situation you are closing the circuit with the door open and that is working in reverse of what you need a normally open circuit so that the steps retract when the door is closed.

    • Is the Lippert Kwikee Pleated Plunger Door Switch LC379407 Normally Open or Normally Closed
The Lippert Components Kwikee Pleated Plunger Door Switch # LC379407 is a normally open switch. If you're in need of a normally closed switch, you can use the Lippert Components Kwikee 3/4" Core Round Magnetic Door Switch part # LC379400. The closed position in this switch is when the plunger is depressed.

    • How Does the Lippert Components Kwikee Magnetic Door Switch 379400 Work
A normally closed circuit is one that has continuity in its normal position. The normal position of the Lippert Components Kwikee 3/4" Core Round Magnetic Door Switch part # LC379400 is when the plunger is depressed. Therefore, continuity will flow through the switch when the plunger is depressed but not when the plunger is extended. If you need a similar switch that is normally open then you will want to use the Lippert Components Kwikee Pleated Plunger Door Switch part # LC379407.
