Video Transcript for Kodiak Tires and Wheels KALN1375S Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Kodiak 1/2" by 20 Stainless Steel Acorn Trailer Wheel Lug Nut. This is designed to fit 1/2" diameter wheel studs. It is a normal right hand thread, and it has 20 threads per inch. If you notice on the bottom here, it has the standard 60 degree taper, that's designed to fit 60 degree taper of the lug hole on the wheel. Now, this is a nice stainless steel construction, it's very durable, rust proof and corrosion resistant. Now, the head size on this is 13/16", and just to show here is a socket of 13/16" size, and you can see it fits perfectly just like that on to the head of the lug nut.

Now this part number is for quantity of one lug nut, and the length from the very bottom to the top of this, when put a ruler on it, is going to be right at 1 9/16". That should do it for the review of the Kodiak 1/2" by 20 Stainless Steel Acorn Trailer Wheel Lug Nut.

Quality, heavy lug nuts. Provided me with exactly the amount of surface area I wanted in order to use an impact wrench on the lugs. Thanks for the assistance in locating the right lug nuts. 721342

These are the only stainless steel lug nuts that we could find that would cover the lugs on our the new hubs we purchased for our new sailboat trailers. Because of the proximity to the Pacific Ocean, we really wanted stainless steel. We built five new trailers, so we needed 10 lug nuts per trailer, for a total of 50 lug nuts. When we received them, we took the time to polish the dull sides, so that the sides were as bright as the rest of the nut. Fortunately, we had access to industrial polishing equipment, so this was as difficult as it would be for the typical buyer. The lug nuts have a very positive effect on the overall look of the trailer, particularly the wheels, which are galvanized steel. I recommend these lug nuts for anyone who wants to really improve the appearance of their trailer and are concerned about corrosion. If you do buy them, it is absolutely critical that you use anti-seize paste when you screw on the lug nuts for the first time. I am giving the product three stars instead of five because of the extra work we had to do to polish the dull sides of the lug nuts. 498229

I was uncertain if they would fit on the Kodiak hub which is listed as having two inch studs; I was pleased to find that they are long enough to reach the bottom of the stud on the Kodiak hub Q-HUB84545. I also purchased one of the less expensive Americana stainless acorn nuts so I could compare before I bought 20 for my tandem trailer. The Americana nuts are longer and also fit the Kodiak hub, but they are constructed as two pieces pressed together, which worried me about longevity and potential mechanical damage. These Kodiak nuts are made of one solid piece of stainless and look like they should outlast the trailer. 461020

Saltwater corrosion making for stuck lugnuts. This babies encapsulate all the threads on lug bolt so they cannot corrode. That plus a little grease or WD40 silicone and no more stuck lug nuts. 570120

heavy duty replacement lug nuts. Look good and rust proof. Bulkier than stock however may be a tight fit with some cast wheels. 697081

I ordered these Stainless Steel Lug Nuts at the same time I purchased a new set of tires and wheels for my boat trailer. They look so much better than the old rusty chrome plated lug nuts that were on there before. Since they are stainless steel, I don't think I will need to replace them again. 696479

Ask the Experts about this Kodiak Accessories and Parts

  • Can Kodiak Stainless Steel Lug Nuts # KALN1375S be Used on Aluminum Wheels
You can certainly use stainless steel lug nuts like the Kodiak # KALN1375S that you referenced on aluminum trailer wheels. Typically the only precaution you would need to take with aluminum wheels is making sure you get lug nuts that are bit longer than standard lug nuts so they stick out far enough to be loosened/tightened. These particular lug nuts should meet that requirement. These will fit 1/2"-20 wheel studs and they have an overall length of 1-9/16 inches. I have attached a short...

  • What Is Torque Rating For A 1/2 Inch Stainless Steel Trailer Wheel Lug Nut
The torque setting for the Kodiak Trailer Wheel Lug Nut, Item # KALN1375S, ranges from 90- to 100-ft-lbs. You will want to avoid using an impact wrench or similar tool because you can not measure the force being applied. For best results, use a torque wrench.

  • Difference Between the Higher and Lower Priced Trailer Lug Nuts
The more expensive lug nuts like the part # KALN1375S and # LHLR103 are made of stainless steel and the lower priced ones like # AM90049 are chrome plated. Stainless steel does not rust or corrode so it's the best choice. Chrome plated lugs will eventually rust which normally manifests as the sockets stop fitting the lugs properly as the corrosion causes the lugs to "swell" and make them hard to deal with and eventually cause failure. If at all possible the stainless options are the way to go.

  • Is Kodiak Trailer Wheel Lug Nut # KALN1375S Solid or Jacketed
The Kodiak Trailer Wheel Lug Nut # KALN1375S that you referenced is a solid, stainless steel lug nut. The jacketed ones tend to swell over time from corrosion which makes it hard to fit wrenches on them but the solid ones will not swell.

  • Will Kodiak Trailer Wheel Lug Nut # KALN1375S Work on 16" Pacer Aluminum Wheel
As long as your trailer hubs feature 1/2"-20 wheel studs the Kodiak Trailer Wheel Lug Nut # KALN1375S that you referenced will work perfectly to secure your 16" Pacer Aluminum Wheels to the trailer. These are stainless steel lug nuts so they will resist any rust or corrosion over time. I have attached a short video review that you can check out as well.

  • Locking Lug Nut Recommendation for Trailer Wheel Studs that are 1/2 inch in Diameter
We do have the chrome plated lug nut lock part # RG01-150 that would fit the same 1/2 inch wheel studs as the lug nut part # KALN1375S. We've sold quite a few of these and the feedback we've gotten from our customer has been really solid with no mention of corrosion or rust so I would confidently recommend these for you. I attached a review video link for these for you to check out as well.

  • Recommending a Wheel Cap and Lug Nuts for a Westlake Radial Tire
You were correct in your assessment that the appropriate center cap for your Westlake Radial Tire, # LHAWSJ392, is the Lionshead Trailer Wheel Center Cap, # LHCS108-SI60C. The Lionshead Center Cap is a fit with six-lug wheels that have a 4.25-inch pilot diameter, which the Westlake is. As for the lug nuts, you were right again. You will need the Kodiak Trailer Wheel Lug Nut, # KALN1375S, which fits 1/2-inch-20 wheel studs. They are made of stainless steel to resist rust and corrosion,...

  • Replacement Wheel Studs for 6k Rated Trailer Hub with 6 Lug Bolt Pattern
It's hard to say for certain which studs you'd need. But there's a great chance you have a 6 lug Dexter hub like the part # 8-213-5UC1 which uses the replacement studs part # 7-122. This is a 1/2 inch diameter stud that measures 2 inches in length. For a 1/2 inch stainless steel acorn lug nut we have the part # KALN1375S which would work well.

The Westlake ST235/85R16 Radial Tire w/ 16" Lynx Aluminum Wheel # LHAX425 referenced in your question has a wheel bolt size of 1/2"-20 or 9/16"-18. The Americana Trailer Wheel Lug Nut # AM90054 that you also mentioned will fit the wheel but may be a bit short at just 1-1/4 inches long. I instead recommend looking at the Kodiak Trailer Wheel Lug Nut # KALN1375S, which has an overall length of 1-9/16 inches and a 13/16 inch head. • Will Westlake ST225/75R15 Radial Tire w Aluminum Wheel # LHAWSJ392 Fit 2014 Jayco Eagle 338
Since you have Dexter axles that have a 6 lug bolt pattern then the Westlake ST225/75R15 Radial Tire w 15" Jaguar Aluminum Wheel # LHAWSJ392 is going to fit and work well. If your tire size is 225/75R15 then this would work great as a spare. Sounds like you have jacketed lug nuts which are known to swell over time and eventually can break like what you described. We have solid lug nuts like the part # KALN1375S which is solid stainless steel and fits the common trailer wheel stud size...

  • Do The Karrier ST215/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire with 14 Galvanized Wheel Come Balanced?
The tire/wheel combinations we carry come balanced in the manner trailer tires are balanced. This is different from the balancing of vehicle tires that require the weights be added, but they do come balanced and ready to install on your trailer. I've attached an article in case you have further questions on this balancing process. You can choose to have them further balanced with weights if you desire, but if you choose to do this, you will need to make sure they use a pin plate adapter...

  • What is Better for Salt Water: Chrome Lug Nuts or Stainless Steel Lug Nuts
It actually matters greatly! Chrome is not all that corrosion resistant. Stainless steel on the other hand is light years ahead of chrome as far as corrosion resistance. Since you are at the Gulf Coast and salt water stainless steel is the way to go. I do not know the size you need but some examples of stainless steel lug nuts include # AM90070 or # KALN1375S for 1/2"-20 threads (very common). On aluminum wheels regular lug nuts won't work well because they are not long enough to stick...
