Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a quick look at the replacement sink strainer with rubber stopper. This is going to be a direct replacement for the sink in your bathroom in your RV to maybe replace something that's a little bit worn out and you just need an update for your RV in general. It's going to be made out of a die-cast steel. In my mind, that's going to be a definite improvement over some of the plastic sinks out there.
Steel can rust, so that's the only drawback, but should be pretty long-lasting for you.Our attachments, we're going to have the metal slip nut, a plastic washer, our lock nut, and also a foam gasket. Thread these all off to give you some measurements. It's actually a rubber gasket there. Then we'll also have our rubber stopper.The overall width, the diameter of our drain is about 1-7/8", so it'll work with our 2" diameter drain openings. At the top, the outer diameter measures about 2-5/8" across.
The length of our threads, it's about 1-1/2". Our stopper will fit nicely in there and that rubber stopper is going to do a better job of holding the water actually in our basin than a plastic stopper would. Since that has a little bit more squish and give, it can press up against there and provide a better watertight seal. It should be a pretty effective drain and stopper for you. The stopper is available separately.
If that ever wears out on you, you can replace it without having to replace the whole sink or a drain assembly itself. Something to keep in mind there.But that's pretty much it, as far as our look at the replacement sink strainer with rubber stopper.
