Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we are installing the JR Products Awning Saver. Now this is available in two different configurations, here, we have it permanently mounted, but you can also get it to where it's removable. That way if you have any clearance issues, you can account for that. Now, if you have an awning on your RV this is definitely something you're gonna want to take into consideration. It's a pretty easy and honestly, pretty budget-friendly upgrade that you can allow to have that kind of flap around in the wind and not have to worry about it catching on your doors or any other things that open up. So if you have any clearance issues and you're worried about that awning catching and cutting, this will hopefully save that.
And that's a lot better than having to replace the entire awning. Now this comes with the hardware to get this mounted up. The wheel free-spins nice and easily, so it can kind of roll along that. It's also zinc plated, which is really nice because if it's gonna be living on the outside of your trailer or camper it's gonna hold up to those elements and not rust. Now with our awning extended we're, it's pretty windy out in our parking lot, and that's really gonna prove the point of why we need a little protection.
Our door definitely has clearance, but as that wind gusts down, it can flap and get pretty close. And again, that's gonna push against this sharp corner. So to add a little bit of protection, we have our Awning Saver roller here and that's just gonna create the new high point and allow this to kind of roll along it instead of making contact with sharp, jagged edges. Now it's available in two different configurations and that kind of depends on how you want to mount it. So if you're gonna just, if it is a permanent mount, you are gonna just mount it to the door.
But you can see we have a clearance issue here with just the sill. So you can either notch that, like we're gonna do here, or you can get this slot here, which this'll keep that clearance, and then when you need to put that roller in place, you can just simply slide this in. Now you do have to keep track of your wheel and make sure that you have that handy. You could also, if you wanted to , you can get crafting, put a spacer. It's kind of up to you and it's kind of depends on your application for it to be perfect.
But since we're permanently mounting, what I'm gonna do is kind of get an idea of where this is gonna sit and I'm gonna go ahead and notch this out. So with whatever cutting tool you have, you can go ahead and do that if this is gonna be an issue for you. Now, if you're installing this on a screen door, it does come with a little screen protector, and this is just gonna kind of help disperse that weight around the screen rather than just trying to drill through that. So if you need to use that when mounting up, go ahead and do that. But ours, since we don't have that screen, I have our notch cut out. All I need to do mark my holes, and then we'll drill this in place. Now as I'm mounting up the bottom one here, I will say, going into this aluminum, it's gonna help having a pilot hole drilled. So just make sure you have one that's obviously smaller than the hardware we're putting in. And if you're doing the one that has the wheel in a removable fashion, just you're gonna do kind of the same thing with your bracket. Just make sure that you have it aligned properly, make those marks, double-check twice, you know, before drilling in. But other than that, it's gonna install the same. And with that installed, our door still closes perfectly and our wheel actually spins while it's in place. And with this open now, the wind can come along and you can see it's touching that wheel. So even if a strong gust comes, I don't have to worry about someone leaving the door open and this ripping. I have that wheel to protect it. And that was a look and installation of the JR Products Awning Saver available in permanent mount, as well as a removable.
