Michael: Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at this double-pole double-throw switch.As you can see, basically this is two different switches that are combined onto one. Your single pole, there in the middle, is going to allow an electric current to come in, and then you have one of two options for that to go out. If you have it in this orientation, that current is going to flow through that middle and then out that way. If you switch, have the current come in and flow out that way. Or you could reverse it and have current coming in from both sides, and then whichever side you have would determine which current is going to flow through that way, but then it's going to be the exact same thing on the other side.

Your current flowing in here is not going to affect this side whatsoever. It is only going to flow from this middle one to one of these outer two, or vice versa, from one of the outer two to the middle one, depending on how you have the switch oriented.This is going to be capable of 16 amps at 125 to 250 volts of alternating current, as well as three quarters horsepower at 125 to 250 volts of alternating current, and 10 amps at 14 volts of direct current, and three amps at 125 volts. Now, when you are using a switch, obviously electricity can be dangerous, so you want to make sure that it is a high quality item. This has been approved by the UL, CSA, and VDE standards, so you can trust it's going to work well for you and hold up.It is right at, let me call it about an inch and a quarter in total width or height, depending on how you want to look at it, and just over three quarters of an inch in width. This is obviously a black color, so it should blend in nicely if you've got a black surrounding area or could stand out nicely if that's what you're looking for.
