Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and today we're taking a quick look at the 5/16" diameter Quick Links. These help you to easily and quickly attach your chains together, get some ropes lashed together, find an easy place to put your cables on, your safety chain loops for your hitch, maybe towing a vehicle, whatever the case might be. These are going to be a little bit smaller. They're going to be that 5/16" diameter, so maybe not anything for a tow-related application, but if you're trying to get that chain hooked up together, something that has that same diameter of 5/16", these should work out pretty well for you. They do have a sturdy steel construction with a zinc coating, so we shouldn't have to worry about any rusting with these over time. It should last for quite a while.I'm going to give you guys some measurements to make sure that they're the right size for your application. Overall length is roughly 3", maybe a little tiny bit less, maybe about 2-15/16," if we want to get really precise. The overall width going to the outside edge of that keeper nut is roughly 1-1/2." And then if we go for the inside dimension or the usable space in there, it's about 2-1/4" of length.
And then turning that nut so that it's at its widest, I'd say you got about 5/8" of space.A 1/2" open-ended wrench should tighten this down, but you don't really need tools to get this snug. It has a design where as you push a little bit further, it's going to capture that and lock it in place, but if you want to just give it a little extra turn, a little extra torque on there to make sure it's tight, a 1/2" open-ended wrench will work out well. You do get both links. You get two links here. And that's about all there is to it for the 5/16" diameter Quick Links. If you need a different size, we do have other configurations available, other sizes available, so definitely check those out right here at etrailer.com.
Thanks for watching.
