Extensive Testing

InfiniteRule products undergo extensive third-party testing to determine shear strength. The shear strength is determined by placing the locking pin in a stress position and subjecting it to increasing force until a required proof load (maximum force received without deformity) is met or the pin fails. These locks have a shear strength of 42,000 lbs.

The 2 locking pins included with this set are interchangeable. Use one pin as a hitch lock to secure your Gen- Y 10K or 16K adjustable ball mount to your 2" or 2-1/2" hitch. The additional pin is used to secure your ball mount platform to the ball mount.

Video Transcript for InfiniteRule Ball Mount Locks Review

Hey, guys. Today, we're gonna be going over the Infiniterule, locking hitch pins for Gen-Y ball mounts. So, why are locking hitch pins important Well, in particular, we having matching set here. And what this allows us to do is, with our adjustable Gen-Y ball mounts, it allows us to lock the ball platform, to the shank and then the shank to the hitch receiver, using one key for both locks. Therefore, both of these locks, are gonna have the same key code. So, we don't have to worry about having a different key for each of these.

So, it's gonna allow us for complete and total security, of our Gen-Y ball mount. So, the Gen-Y ball mount, it doesn't actually come with the hitch pin. So, you're going to have to pick one of those up, regardless. It does have a pin for the adjustment knobs here or rather how to adjust the platform within the shank. So, we do have one of those.

But we'll actually have to purchase a hitch pin separately. And why not just get two of them, that are locking with the same key code, so we can provide complete and total security for our ball mount. So, our hitch pins here, they're going to have the industry standard five eight inch diameter, which is going to be used on both two and two and a half inch trailer hitches. So, I bring up two and a half inch trailer hitches, because the pins are actually long enough, that we could actually use it with a two and a half inch trailer hitch, if that's what we had. So, it's going to be the perfect option for both two and two and a half inch hitches.

So, keep in mind, we are using our locking pins here with a Gen-Y ball mount, but they'll actually work with pretty much any adjustable ball mount on the market. We just want to make sure that the span, are usable span here for our pin. Which is from the inside of the snob, to the inside of this snob. That's three in one eighth inches for this hitch pin set. So, as long as that allows you to secure the platform or the shank rather, of your ball mount, you're going to be able to use these pins.

You would just simply measure from the two outside surfaces here, to make sure they don't exceed that length. So, here's our closer look at the actual hitch pins. As you can see here, we're gonna have a nice rubber dust cap, that goes over the actual locking core. Keeps any water, dirt debris from getting inside that lock core and causing us issues, in where inserting our key. So, just to show you how this works. We'll insert our key and you can actually just turn the key. But what I like to do instead, is hold on to the key, take my other hand on the other side of the hitch pin and just simply spin it. This makes it a lot easier to remove. Because the locking knobs, are actually threaded onto the pin. So, if we kind of look inside there we should be able to see some threads. They line up with some threads, on the inside of our hitch pin. So, this brings me to my next point, that I really, really really like about these hitch pins, is that we have this little orange rubber O-ring. So, we have the dust cap here to secure the lock core. But what have all, a lot of other locking hitch pins fail to do is provide a seal on the inside of the core. So, when we put that on there, as you can see. There's still gonna be a chance for water to get in there, assuming we didn't have the O-ring. But with the O-ring in place, it's going to keep our lock core body here, completely weatherproof. So, if you've had locks and hitch pins before. If you get water inside this lock core and it sits for a period of time. It makes these things almost impossible to remove. You usually end up cutting them off. With the integration of this O-ring here, it's just such a small feature that really has drastic effects on the longevity of our locking pin. In order to install it. It's super easy, pretty much just repeat the same process that we use to remove it. Now, you can sit here and turn the key if you like. But again, I like to hold the key, and then turn from the other side. Once we have it all the way tight. What you're going to need to do is, you're actually gonna come off a little bit, about a quarter turn. And that should allow you to pull the key out. And we can simply resecure the dust cap. I would like to point out that our hitch pins, are actually made of stainless steel. Therefore, we don't have to worry about any issues with rust and corrosion. They're also gonna be made right here in the USA. So, you know, you're getting a quality well-made product. Now, a question we do get asked a lot. Which not a lot of hitch pins provide and that's going to be a weight capacity or in this case, a sheer strength rating. So, for these particular pins, it's going to be 42,000 pounds. Therefore, you're not going to have any issues, with strength or durability. And that'll do it, for our look at the Infiniterule, locking hitch pins for Gen-Y ball mounts..

Very well built but can probably get picked by someone who knows what they’re doing. A deterrent for most and should last a long time.

  • Which Locking Pin Would Work With The Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount # 325-GH-314?
If you have the Gen-Y Adjustable 2 Ball Mount # 325-GH-314 then you'll need these locks # 34061572-D. These will lock your balls to the mount and the mount to the hitch. Yes, it's not the cheapest lock but this isn't the cheapest ball mount. Someone could easily come and grab just the ball out of the mount and use it on their car and it would be just as easy, just a little bit heavier to take the whole ball mount with them. I think it's a necessity for any hitch attachment especially one...

  • What is the Tongue Weight Range for 10K Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers
The torsion action on the Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers # 325-GH-1024 is designed for trailers with a tongue weight of 500 lbs - 1,100 lbs so if you were to tow a lighter trailer using this ball mount then the torsion part would simply not operate and you would essentially be using a fixed ball mount. So really the only bad thing about this is using a hefty ball mount for a lightweight trailer but if you plan on just leaving this on your truck then you don't really have...
