Notes:
When used with short-bed pickups, this slider (or glider) helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a glider to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.
Glides on Composite Material
A durable, corrosion-resistant composite material is built into the body of the Husky 10-16 slider. This material allows the slider to glide smoothly along the squared metal rails without any of the grinding that often occurs with metal-on-metal contact. The result is a slider system that wears less and operates more quietly than models with rollers and metal rails.
Non-Binding Latch Mechanism
Binding occurs when tension builds up between the fifth-wheel hitch and the slider. This happens most often when your truck and trailer are either somewhat out of line with one another or when they are on uneven ground. When a slider gets bound up, you typically have to fight the tension by jerking the handle or jockeying your truck back and forth, both of which can be frustrating and ultimately futile.
The Husky 10-16 glider is built with a latch mechanism that inhibits binding by preventing an unmanageable buildup of pressure. It uses a compression cylinder and pivot stops instead of pins or traditional latches, which tend to result in binding. To release the slider, simply move the handle into the unlocked position and drive your truck forward or back to position your trailer for turning. The compression cylinder is responsible for the load; it compresses to absorb any pressure buildup. When you move your truck, the cylinder relaxes and decompresses to release some of that pressure. Once the binding pressure is released, the pivot stops are able to move, allowing the slider to glide into the proper position. No more jockeying your truck back and forth or fighting with a stuck handle.

Today, we're going to review part number HT31196. This is the Husky 10-16K roller for Husky fifth-wheel trailer hitches has ten inches of travel and a 16,000 pound weight capacity. Now, this roller will provide clearance which is required for your short bed pick up to safely turn it slow speeds. This will prevent the trailer from hitting the cab of your pick up during the sharp slow speed turns. Now, for demonstration purposes I have the roller on a set of rails but the rails and the hitch themselves are sold separately on our website. Now, this will work with the Husky Silver Series and Black Series fifth-wheel trailer hitches. It does glide smoothly on the square composite rail like you can see here, one on each side so there's no metal on metal contact which means quieter operation and less wear and tear.
The material also is a corrosion resistant material which is very sturdy and durable. Now, it does resist binding with this built in compression cylinder right here so there's no pins or latches that go lock up and the hardware you can see is a yellow zinc chromate hardware which will help resit rust. It does include this easy-to-use ergonomic handle. Now, this is designed to fit on most industry standard above that base rails and the roller is constructed of a sturdy powder coated steel. Now, again a few specs that goes towing weight capacity is 16,000 pounds and again the travel is ten inches front and back. Now, one of the nice features on this Husky 10-16K roller is that it uses this non binding latch mechanism basically what happens is you'll get binding usually it will occur when there's tension that will build up between your fifth-wheel hitch and the slider itself.
This happens most often when your truck or your trailer or either out of line with one another or when they are on anything ground. What happens is the slider gets bound up then you typically have to fight that tension by jerking on the handle or moving your truck back and forth, both of which can get pretty frustrating. The Husky 10-16K roller is built with this latch mechanism that inhibits binding by preventing the build up of pressure. It uses this compression spring that I showed you earlier and this flipper plate right here instead of the traditional pins or latches which will tend to result in binding. Basically, to release the slider to move, right now the handle is locked in the towing position so the legs will not go anywhere. If you take the pin and clip out and then what you can do, let me rotate this again.
To release the slider to move basically pull up on this T handle right here and then you just push it into the unlock position and when you do that that flipper plate you can see will pop up and this little notches here will release and that will allow the legs to move back and forth. We have ten inches of travel. Now the compression spring right here when this legs are moving is responsible for the load so it will compress to absorb any pressure build up. When you move your truck the cylinder will relax and decompress to release some of that pressure so you don't get any binding. Once that binding pressure is released this flipper is able to move freely into the next lock position ensuring proper control of movement so there's no more jocking your truck back and forth or fighting with the handle. Basically now you can see they move so once you get it all done and you want to put it back into the towing position, again just pull up on this T handle pull it all the way up in here and release it and then what you can do is as it moves, you'll be able to notice let me turn it for you. You can see, it will lock right into place once it locks in to the towing position closer to the cab of your truck.
That should do it for the review on part number Ht31196, the Husky 10-16K roller for the Husky fifth-wheel trailer hitches. .

Works with Husky 16K S and 16K W fifth-wheel hitches.I have been pleased with the construction and performance of my Husky hitch, and give it two thumbs up. I tow a 35' Montana 5th wheel with a short bed Ford F350 Super Duty diesel truck with no issues. 782089
