Video Transcript for Hopkins Brake Controller HM47755 Review

Today we're going to be taking at look at Part Number HM47755. This is the Hopkins Plug-in Simple Brake Wiring Adapter. This is going to fit your Dodge Dakota, Durango, Ram pickups, and the Aspen. To see if this is going to be a fit for your particular model and year, you can use the fit guide located on our website. This adapter is designed for vehicles equipped with a trailer tow package. It's going to simplify the installation of your trailer brake controller.

You can see here that it's going to contain the wiring and two plugs. The flat plug here is going to be inserted into the back of the brake control unit, and then this plug right here is going to be inserted into the factor-installed port under the dash. It is going to be a custom fit. It's just going to snap in and lock itself into place. It's going to fit brake controllers with a corresponding connector that would fit this one right here. I have the Hopkins Agility here today just to show you how easily this can be connected.

All you got to do is take the two units, snap them in together until it clicks into place. To disconnect, all you got to do is lift up on that tab and then wiggle the connectors apart from one another. The amount of wiring that you're going to have between the two connectors is going to measure 28 inches and it's got some different points on the wiring where it has some tape wrapped around it. That's just designed to keep the wires bunched up together to make sure that it doesn't hang loose around the pedals or behind the dash of your vehicle. But, you could also just use some zip ties to secure the wiring up and out of the way. That's going to do it for our review of Part Number HM47755.

This is the Hopkins Plug-in Simple Brake Wiring Adapter. .

Fit perfect, I was nervous it wouldn't fit because I had an aftermarket trailer brake not factory tow package. 1996 Dodge 2500 is now fit with a new trailer brake controller and I feel better knowing I skipped the hard wiring that could have provided another point of failure. 441313

Works great! Easy to install. Basically plug it together and go. My biggest problem was finding the harness on my truck. It was curled up and tucked out of the way behind the fuse panel. The double stick tape provided with the controller is super sticky. Be sure you know where you want it before allowing it to make contact with anything. Once it touches it's STUCK. Tried it out this weekend. It does a great job. Adjusting power and sensitivity is very simple. Your rep. was very helpful in helping me decide which unit I wanted. Couldn't be more satisfied(price and quality). 248100

  • Brake Controller for 2008 Dodge 2500 Diesel Towing Heavy 12000-lb Trailer
  • I recommend going with the Hopkins # HM47294 which is a proportional brake controller with 5 adjustable power levels to handle even the heaviest tow loads. This controller works on trailers with up to 4 axles, so you'll be able to use it on most other trailers that you may need to tow in the future. The easy to read display shows how much power is being supplied to the brakes and the controller can mount easily under your dash, so it's out of the way yet still easy to access the manual...
