Video Transcript for Hopkins Brake Controller HM47715 Review

Today we're going to review part number HM47715. This is the Hopkins Plug-in Simple Brake Control Connector for Ford vehicles. This is a custom fit part number. It is designed to fit the Ford, the Lincoln, the Mercury, and the Land Rover starting in 1994. What I would recommend is to go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, it'll show you if this will work for your application. This is a brake control connector, which will ease the installation of the electric brake controller.

On one end it has a custom connector that'll plug in to your built-in factory brake controller port, which is usually beneath the dash of the vehicle. The other end right here will plug into the back of your Hopkins electric brake controller. This is designed to fit the Hopkins Agility Trailer Brake Controller. I have an example of one here, we do sell that separately on our website. It's part number HM47294. It will also fit the Hopkins Insight Flex Mount Brake Controller we do sell separately also, HM47297.

The reason is both of those would have this type of plug on the back of it, so for this to plug into. This is designed for vehicles that are equipped with the trailer tow package. Basically what you would do is take your brake controller again, have the plug on the back, just take this section that would line up with the plug, go ahead and plug it in. Snaps and locks into place, and then what you'll do is find your factory brake controller for it, and I have a connector that'll match up to that. Plug that in, and you'd be all ready to go. When you're ready to disconnect, just pull up on this tab right here and you can pop your brake controller right off.

That should do it for the review on part number HM47715, the Hopkins Plug-in Simple Brake Controller Connector for the Ford vehicles. .

Easy install. Everything lined up on my Curt trailer hitch receiver C14360. 30 min install. Also bought the Hopkins in-sight flex mount brake controller HM47297 and the Hopkins plug in wire kit for ford to Hopkins controller HM47715. This adapter saved me loads of time installing controller another 30 min install. All was left was find my factory wires for trailer brakes and 12v battery supply and I was finished. I would say I spent 1.5 hrs installing and .5 hrs cleaning up. I use this brake controller in all my vehicles. 287798

Honda Insight

The brake controller to Ford wiring harness worked but it was barely long enough for the F-150 when connected to a Hopkins Insight brake controller with the controller mounted behind the left kick panel (behind the parking brake). I had to unclip the brake controller jack from the data port connector in order to have enough wire length to reach over and down to the kick panel area. 138798

- HM47715
by:
Ford F-250 Super Duty

This adapter works fine, but needs to be at least 4 inches longer. The only routing I could manage to allow connection from the F250 trailer connector to the controller mounting position (required by the product) has the wires rubbing on the brake pedal. This will fail eventually. I'd really like you to send a new, longer cable. 117389
