Easy install. Everything lined up on my Curt trailer hitch receiver C14360. 30 min install. Also bought the Hopkins in-sight flex mount brake controller HM47297 and the Hopkins plug in wire kit for ford to Hopkins controller HM47715. This adapter saved me loads of time installing controller another 30 min install. All was left was find my factory wires for trailer brakes and 12v battery supply and I was finished. I would say I spent 1.5 hrs installing and .5 hrs cleaning up. I use this brake controller in all my vehicles. 287798

  • Wiring Harness for Installing Hopkins InSIGHT Trailer Brake Controller in 1999 Ford F-350
If you are looking for a brake controller installation harness for the Hopkins InSIGHT Flex-Mount Trailer Brake Controller you can use their harness # HM47715 which is a direct fit for the 1999 F-350 that has a factory 7-way. The included video shows installation in a 2001 Super Duty. The photo shows the gray under-dash connector it plugs into. We also offer many types of trailer wiring harness for your 1999 Ford F-350. I included all of them on the linked page so that you can see them. If...

  • Electric Trailer Brake Controller Port Location on a 2002 Ford Expedition
There are a few different places the port on the 2002 Ford Expedition may be hiding. First, check the area beneath the dash, near the center console. It may be tucked up in there behind other wiring and you may need to remove an underdash panel. If you cannot find it there, check under the dash but to the left of the steering column. It is also possible that it is behind the glove compartment on the passenger side. I have included a link to a couple of videos that might help.

  • Brake Controller on 2001 Ford Expedition is Only Working with Manual Override and Not Brake Pedal
When a brake controller works with the manual override lever but not with the brake pedal that usually indicates a problem along the red wire. In this case, since it is a plug-in harness, it is not likely that the red wire is in the wrong location. But just to be sure the red wire should be in between the black and blue wires on the end that plugs into the vehicle. The most likely culprit is a blown stop light or CHMSL fuse. Use the owners manual to find the location of the fuses to...

For the Hopkins Plug-in Simple Brake Wiring Adapter # HM47715: The Black wire is power. The Red wire is the stop light switch. The White wire is the ground. The Blue wire is the brake feed to the trailer. Some brake controllers have different colors for the wire functions. • Hopkins Brake Controller Installation in 2000 Ford F-150 That Had Wiring Removed
The Hopkins brake controller harness part # HM47715 is intended for the F-150 that came from the factory with a 7-way. Such trucks have the under-dash port for connecting a brake controller such as the Hopkins Agility # HM47294. If that was cut off by the previous owner you can splice into the four wires, just be sure to test them first to confirm you have the correct wires. Vehicle brake controller wiring will have a +12V wire that remains hot at all times, which connect to the controller's...

  • Brake Controller on 2003 Ford Expedition is Only Working with Manual Override and Not Brake Pedal
Yes, when a brake controller works with the manual override lever but not with the brake pedal that usually indicates a problem along the red wire. In this case, since it is a hardwire install the problem could also be the connection itself. You might check to make sure the red wire is making a solid connection to your brake switch circuit. This circuit should see voltage when the brakes are applied and none when the brakes are released. The most likely culprit is a blown stop light...

  • Troubleshooting Hopkins Agility Electric Brake Controller Not Showing Trailer Connected Anymore
The Hopkins Agility Brake Controller # HM47715 detects a trailer by sending a signal along the brake circuit (blue wire) to the 7-way periodically. It's basically a pulse. You can test for it by using a circuit tester, like part # 40376, on the 5 O'clock pin of your 7-way. It won't show a full 12 volts but should get power. Yes, you can use brake controller wiring harness # HM47715 on the 2013 Ford F-53 RV chassis. The factory connection point is located over near the emergency brake pedal under the dash. Take a look at the picture I have provided that points it out. It also could be tucked behind or taped to another harness in that general area. If the RV is a 1999 model year then it is possible that the F-53 chassis on it is a 1998. I cannot guarantee that the brake controller plug is present on a 1998 model.
