This unique, adjustable channel bracket from Gen-Y Hitch offers 5 mounting positions for your ball coupler, clevis, or lunette ring (all sold separately). This lets you easily adjust the height of your coupler to fit your application. This bracket also has built-in shock absorption to ensure a safe, smooth towing experience. Using technology similar to that found in torsion trailer axles, the Gen-Y channel bracket absorbs road shock, isolating any rough jarring or chucking at the connection point. This prevents the rough motion from transferring from the trailer to the vehicle and vice versa.

Built-In Shock Absorption for a Smooth Ride

When towing with a standard coupler, you might experience rough, jerking motion when driving over bumps. This harsh motion can cause shock and strain on your towing connection and can even potentially damage your vehicle or trailer. This Gen-Y Hitch torsion channel is designed to absorb road shock at the connection point to create a safe, smooth ride. This is thanks to the internal construction of the unit, which is similar to that of a torsion axle.

Pivot points are built into the center of this unit. This allows for movement between the adjustable channel, where your coupler attaches, and the mounting point, which connects the unit to your trailer. When you're starting and stopping while towing a heavy load, or when you hit a bump in the road, the coupler side of the bracket will move up and down accordingly.

Built into the Gen-Y mount are tubes with inner bars that are surrounded by rubber cords. As the channel bracket moves up and down, these inner bars twist inside of the tubes, attempting to follow the bracket's motion. But the rubber cords prevent the bars from twisting too far. And as each bar turns, these cords compress to absorb the shock. This means that any shock experienced by your truck can be absorbed before it reaches your trailer, and the shock experienced by your trailer won't get transferred to your truck.

Designed for Heavy-Duty Towing

This Gen-Y Hitch torsion channel bracket is perfect for use with heavy equipment trailers that are used with multiple tow vehicles. Unlike the Gen-Y torsion ball mounts, this unit installs on your trailer so you can easily switch between different tow vehicles. Just mount the coupler needed for your specific application - a standard ball coupler, lunette ring, or clevis hitch - in the 3" channel and adjust the height of the coupler to match the height of your tow vehicle's hitch.

No matter what vehicle you tow with, you will get premium shock absorption and a smooth, steady ride.

Video Transcript for Review of Gen-Y Hitch Contractor Torsion Flex Adjustable Channel Bracket - GY85ER

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this Gen-Y Hitch Contractor Torsion Flex Adjustable Channel Bracket. Now, this adjustable channel bracket is designed for towing large, heavy loads while improving your ride quality and safety. And this unique adjustable channel bracket is going to give you five mounting positions for your ball coupler, your clevis, or your lunette ring, of course, those couplers are sold separately and this is going to let you easily adjust the height of your coupler to fit your particular application. So who should consider something like this Well, contractors of course, who are hauling heavy equipment or materials, farmers who are towing heavy duty trailers, commercial haulers, needing a strong shock-absorbing hitch, and really anyone towing large loads on a regular basis that need reliability and safety. Now this is going to be a simple yet secure installation on your heavy duty trailer.

This will bolt into your three-inch adjustable channel on your trailer with the included grade eight bolts that you see here. And on your screen, I just wanna pop an image up showing you what this is going to look like installed on your trailer, and then having a coupler in the channel mount there in the front. So now that's going to be what this is going to look like when this is installed. It's going to be an easy installation, you're not gonna have to worry about any welding. I do wanna point out that this is heavy.

I needed my coworker to help me pop this on the table here. So you do wanna make sure that you have the support that you need when you are bolting this into place. So the inside channel width is three inches. The whole spacing on center is two inches. The whole diameter is five eighths of an inch.

You're gonna get a range of height adjustment of about eight inches. This is made here in the USA of a heavy duty steel construction. This is built for demanding conditions and this is going to give you a maximum gross trailer weight of 32,000 pounds, and a maximum tongue weight of 3,500 pounds and an optimal ride tongue weight from 2,000 pounds to 3,500 pounds. Now that optimal ride tongue weight capacity range is due to Gen-Y's shock-absorbing design, which is going to ensure a smooth and steady ride. Their technology functions much like a torsion axle to limit the transfer of road shock from your trailer to your truck and vice versa, reducing chucking and that rough four and aft motion.

It's also gonna help limit bounce and that jarring up and down motion. So I do have a cutaway here just to kind of demonstrate for you what's going on inside. So built into the channel bracket are these tubes with these inner bars that are surrounded by rubber cords. So as the coupler end moves, these inner bars are going to twist inside of the tubes, attempting to follow the coupler's motion. But the rubber cords are going to prevent the bars from twisting too far. So as each bar turns, these cords are going to compress to absorb the rough shock. So what this means for you is that any shock experienced by your truck can be absorbed before it reaches your trailer, and the shock experience by your trailer won't get transferred back to your truck. And another benefit of this type of system is that there are no airbags to maintain, there's fewer moving parts to repair or replace than with other shock-absorbing solutions. So just some quick measurements here, the overall height here at the tallest point, we're sitting at about 11-and-a-half inches tall. And then the overall width, and I'm including the bolts here as well, so from bolt end to bolt end, we're sitting at about 10-and-a-half inches wide. This features a durable silver vein powder coat finish that's going to resist wear and corrosion. Of course, Gen-Y has a great reputation for building a very strong, very robust products. A word that I hear used over and over again regarding Gen-Y products is that they're overbuilt. And so this is gonna be no exception to that. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that our time together has been helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me.
