This unique, adjustable channel bracket from Gen-Y Hitch offers 5 mounting positions for your ball coupler, clevis, or lunette ring (all sold separately). This lets you easily adjust the height of your coupler to fit your application. This bracket also has built-in shock absorption to ensure a safe, smooth towing experience. Using technology similar to that found in torsion trailer axles, the Gen-Y channel bracket absorbs road shock, isolating any rough jarring or chucking at the connection point. This prevents the rough motion from transferring from the trailer to the vehicle and vice versa.

Built-In Shock Absorption for a Smooth Ride

When towing with a standard coupler, you might experience rough, jerking motion when driving over bumps. This harsh motion can cause shock and strain on your towing connection and can even potentially damage your vehicle or trailer. This Gen-Y Hitch torsion channel is designed to absorb road shock at the connection point to create a safe, smooth ride. This is thanks to the internal construction of the unit, which is similar to that of a torsion axle.

Pivot points are built into the center of this unit. This allows for movement between the adjustable channel, where your coupler attaches, and the mounting point, which connects the unit to your trailer. When you're starting and stopping while towing a heavy load, or when you hit a bump in the road, the coupler side of the bracket will move up and down accordingly.

torsion diagram

Built into the Gen-Y mount are tubes with inner bars that are surrounded by rubber cords. As the channel bracket moves up and down, these inner bars twist inside of the tubes, attempting to follow the bracket's motion. But the rubber cords prevent the bars from twisting too far. And as each bar turns, these cords compress to absorb the shock. This means that any shock experienced by your truck can be absorbed before it reaches your trailer, and the shock experienced by your trailer won't get transferred to your truck.

Easily Check Your Tongue Weight

scale

This mount features a built-in mechanical tongue weight scale. The highest arrow on the scale indicates the mount's maximum tongue weight (1,700 lbs). The lowest arrow indicates no tongue weight (0 lbs). There must be a minimum tongue weight of 1,000 lbs for the built-in shock absorption to function. This means that the tongue weight scale's white indicator marker should be between the highest arrow and the middle arrow when you hook up your trailer to tow.

Designed for Heavy-Duty Towing

This Gen-Y Hitch torsion channel bracket is perfect for use with heavy equipment trailers that are used with multiple tow vehicles. Unlike the Gen-Y torsion ball mounts, this unit installs on your trailer so you can easily switch between different tow vehicles. Just mount the coupler needed for your specific application - a standard ball coupler, lunette ring, or clevis hitch - in the 3" channel and adjust the height of the coupler to match the height of your tow vehicle's hitch.

No matter what vehicle you tow with, you will get premium shock absorption and a smooth, steady ride.

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Gen-Y Hitch Contractor Torsion Flex Adjustable Channel Bracket. This channel bracket has five mounting positions for a coupler. Couplers are sold separately. But this can be used to mount a traditional ball coupler, a lunette ring or a clevis on your trailer. This unit features again the torsion flex design. So the shock absorbing design ensures a smooth steady ride. So right here we have a technology that functions like a torsion axle to limit transfer of road shock from the vehicle to the trailer and vice versa.

There's no airbags to maintain. And there's fewer moving parts to remove or replace than with other shock absorbing solutions. We're looking at a heavy duty steel construction. The unit has a zinc primer and powder coat finish to resist resting corrosion. It offers simple secure mounting on your heavy duty trailer. So right here's where it attaches to your trailer.

It bolts into a three inch adjustable channel on your trailer with the included grade eight bolts. Comes with three bolts which are the ones that go all the way through right here. Then it also comes with your stabilizer bolts for the installation. Also right here we have a mechanical tongue weight scale. It's built in. This allows you to get a visual of the tongue weight amount.

That way you can adjust your load as needed. It's SAEJ6A4 certified. Product's made in the USA. When it comes to the overall dimensions from bottom to top is about 11 and a half inches tall. Outer edge to outer edge, bolt head to bold head, is about six and fight eighths inches wide. These holes right here .. this is where you would attach your coupler.

These are separated on center by two inches and each hole has a dimeter of five eighths of an inch. The range of height adjustment is eight inches. Inside channel width is three inches. The maximum gross trailer weight capacity for this unit is 16000 pounds. Maximum tongue weight capacity is 1700 pounds and the optimal ride tongue weight is between 1000 and 17000 pounds. That's gonna do it for today's look at the Gen-Y Hitch Contractor Torsion Flex Adjustable Channel Bracket.

Works great, we needed to extend the coupler about 3 inches to keep the truck from hitting the trailer when turning so this gave us the room we needed and smoothed out the ride of the trailer.

This is a great product. Not only does it help with road shock. It helped with trailer coupler noise 90% quieter.
Well pleased.

  • Will a Gen-Y Torsion Trailer Coupler Work on a 10K Tilt Deck Trailer
The Gen-Y Hitch Contractor Torsion Flex Adjustable Channel Bracket part # 325-GH-10001 would do very little to absorb shock on a trailer of that size. It has an optimal tongue weight rating of 1100-1700 lbs. Which means it wouldn't really flex and give you the benefits you are looking for. While you don't want to hear it the best bet is really to use the Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount part # 325-GH-1024 this will really improve the ride when hauling that trailer. It has an optimal range of...
