Hey, everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we have the Gen-Y replacement pintle lock. There are different weight capacities available, so this is gonna be the highest one at 32,000 pounds. You might find some other ones like 21,000 pounds. And with those, just be mindful of double checking which ball mount you have and double checking the size of your receiver shank. So ours is 2 1/2 inches, which means it fits with this 2 1/2 inch ball mount. You may have a three inch shank, where it goes into the hitch receiver, but you may also have a 2 1/2 inch stacked receiver, which is where you attach this to.
So that's definitely something to look out for. So if you wanna carry around a trailer with a lunette ring attachment, you can use your Gen-Y adjustable ball mount for it. This is a great pairing too because you have that 32,000 pound weight capacity with a 2 5/8 hitch ball. So what you need to do is first put the pintle lock in, secure it with one of the pins that was included with your ball mount, and then you get the ball into place. With this setup, what may happen is you may need to replace this since it is a separate piece.
Some people do lose it or misplace it. But fortunately, you have the exact replacement part right here. There's two holes on your pintle lock. And the reason for this is because of where your pintle lock might need to sit on your stacked receiver. So you can have it in the stowed position.
That way, if your ball mount did have a pin in it, when you put the lunette ring on it, you're still able to have that space. Once your lunette ring is on the ball mount, you then push it out to the other hole and then that's when you insert your 3/4 inch diameter pin. As always, do not forget to use the clips to secure those pins. Not all adjustable ball mounts have an additional pintle lock feature, so I really like that this one does. They are able to make that happen because of the stacked receiver style.
So definitely something worth considering if you have the Gen-Y adjustable ball mount. And if you do have a smaller weight capacity pintle lock but it has a 2 1/2 inch shank, you are still able to use this, just know that your weight capacities do change up. So this is actually a common part of the Gen-Y ball mount kit that people tend to misplace if they don't often carry around trailers with lunette rings and require that pintle hook attachment. Fortunately, you can keep this inside of your ball mount if you want, just store it in the stowed away position if you are someone who would tend to misplace this. And the other option is you can find it here at etrailer. So hopefully, this video will you out to see if this was the right part for you. And if you needed the other parts, whether it's pins and clips or even the two ball mounts, or you can find the whole kit on our website as well. And that right there was a look at the Gen-Y replacement pintle lock.
