Video Transcript for Nylon Tube Brush: The Breakdown

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this 3/8 inch diameter nylon tube brush. Now, this 3/8 inch diameter nylon brush is great for cleaning out your weld nuts on your vehicle's frames, so it makes your hitch installation go much easier. Also works great for cleaning and deburring any openings. If you notice on the very end right here, you can see it has this loop handle on the end. It'll help you maintain control of the brush, and you can see it has a straight stem design, so it allows you to get deeper into any of the holes or crevices.

The brush itself is a nylon fill brush design, prevents any damage to the threads. And the dimensions on this, if we measure the overall length, looking right at 6-1/2 inches. Just the brush length right at about two inches. The stem diameter is 3/30 seconds of an inch, and the brush diameter is 3/8 of an inch. But that should do it for the review on this 3/8 inch diameter nylon tube brush.

Original package was missing the brush, e-mailed etrailer and sent a picture of the box which had some damage (hole), replacement brush was sent out immediately. Thank you etrailer

The nylon brush for cleaning threads is great and useful for other projects. The Curt trailer hitch 13195, and electrical connections are all great. Brenden C helped me with my special order and that too is greatly appreciated.

Fine, no issues.

by:

Just received my trailer hitch, trailer wire and brush all came when expected and was much faster order process and delivery then I originally expected to take, I would definitely recommend etrailer to anyone

by:

Highly recommend for cleaning threads before installing a hitch.

by:

Super easy to install. Had this installed in 10 minutes or less. I would suggest to get a good wire brush to clean out the threads on the vehicle. A little rust can make your job much harder. Pre prep goes a long way!

by:

Works fine. If your vehicle is more than a few years old, go ahead and (carefully!) tap the bolt holes again. Then use the brush to clean out any metal shavings before you put the bolts in.

by:

What can I say? The brush did what it was supposed to. Maybe a tiny bit too small for the threaded holes I was cleaning, but still got the job done. Just took a little extra scrubbing.

by:

Worked okay for what little I needed it for but there were not really a need for it

by:

This was very use full in removing any dirt prior to feeding the cable through.

by:

Very nice brush, worked well. Thank you!

by:

great little tool.

  • Troubleshooting Bolts Not Fitting When Installing Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch on a 2008 Nissan Rogue
If you are having trouble getting the hardware to install for your Draw-Tite trailer hitch then what you need to do is soak the bolt holes with WD40, wait for a few minutes to let it set in, and then use a wire brush like part # 814113 to clean out any dirt or debris. This isn't very uncommon especially on vehicles that are a little older. Another thing to check is to make sure that you have the correct trailer hitch for your vehicle. If you are trying to install a hitch on the 2008 Nissan...

  • Installing Trailer Hitch Receiver with Corroded Weldnuts On 2014 Honda CRV EX-L
The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e98868 is a great hitch that is easy to install when the weldnuts are not corroded. You have done the right steps in using a lubricant and a nylon brush # 814113, but since that isn't working on 2 of the weldnuts, I recommend using a small wire brush as outlined in the instructions being careful not to damage the threads. If that doesn't solve the problem the next option is to use the 10 mm x 1.25...

  • Cleaning out Weld Nuts on 2014 Chrysler Town and Country for Installing Trailer Hitch
The issue you are experiencing with threading the bolts into the existing holes on your Chrysler's frame is actually not too uncommon. What we recommend doing to clean the weld nuts is to simply use some spray lubricant and a good wire brush like # 814113. You will just want to spray the lubricant (something like WD-40 or Blaster Lubricant) inside the weld nut and then let it sit for a few minutes. Then you can scrub the bolt hole with the wire brush, loosening up any corrosion or grime...

  • Can Stealth Hitches Trailer Hitch for 2020 Kia Telluride Easily be Installed at Home
That is an excellent question! Most of the Stealth Hitches are pretty intensive because you typically need to remove the rear bumper. For the Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver # 391KIATELL20 for your 2020 Kia Telluride though it's actually much more simple. You do have to lower the spare tire and remove the gravel guard underneath but this installation doesn't require that the rear bumper be removed so I'm confident that you can perform this installation right at home even if you aren't...

  • Troubleshooting Frame Weld Nut That May Be Stripped Out On a 2007 Honda CR-V
If you have already used a Brush # 814113 with some penetrating oil to clean the weld nut on your 2007 Honda CR-V free of rust and debris your next step would be to use a M10 X 1.25 tap to attempt to clean out or fixed the damaged threads. This may be something best left to a professional depending on your comfort and skill level since if the tap goes in cross threaded it will destroy the good threads left in the weld nut. If that happens the weld nut would have to be replaced. Then you...

  • Trailer Lights Work Off and On when Connected to a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer
What you are describing is a ground issue most likely caused by a dirty or corroded trailer connector on the vehicle. Use a wire brush such as # 814113 to clean off corrosion on the pins. If you can take your vehicle side connector apart then check where the wires attach and clean/repair as needed. You can also inspect the vehicle side wiring from the trailer connector forward on the vehicle and repair any damaged wires.

  • Trouble Tightening Hitch Pin on the Thule Apex Swing
The temperature change will have to be near 100 degrees fahrenheit in order for the metal to expand so I really doubt that is the issue. The likely culprit is some loose dirt/rust or damaged threads on either the hitch pin or weld nut inside the shank of the Thule Swing 4 Bike Rack part # TH9027XT. I would first take some spray lubricant like WD-40 and then use a tube brush like part # 814113 to clean out the threads inside the shank and on the hitch pin. If this does not work then you...

The bolts that fit the weldnuts are M12x1.75x40mm. But if you need new hardware then you will need # RHK. When installing a The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4 inch # C11221 on a frame that the weld nuts are rusted out will require some special attention. The weld nuts in the frame on your 2015 Kia Sorento are likely packed with grime and corrosion. Cleaning them out will allow the bolts to thread in. Basically you will spray the holes with PB Blaster or WD40 and let them soak for about 15 minutes. Then start cleaning them out with a wire brush, like a battery terminal cleaner or a tube brush such as # 814113. You may need to repeat the process more than once. It is possible while the threads are cleaned out with a Brush # 814113 that their could be paint overspray or corrosion inside the threads that needs to still be cleaned out. Installation of a hitch like Draw-Tite # 75528 in your 2010 Chevrolet Traverse whose frame weld nuts are rusted out will require some special attention. My contact at Draw-Tite recommends that you try cleaning out the weld nuts. Often weld nuts can be brought back to a serviceable condition.
