Video Transcript for Review of Flint Hill Goods Trailer Wiring - Hex Self Tapping Screw - FA1131822

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at Today I'm gonna take a look at this 1/4 inch by 14 by 3/4 inch long unslotted hex drive zinc finish self-drilling screw. This is for a quantity of one. Now if you notice, this is an unslotted hex washer head self-drilling screw, has a zinc coating for corrosion resistance, and this is great for use on grounding wires with a 1/4 inch diameter ring terminal. As we mentioned, the size on this is 1/4 inch by 14 by 3/4 inch long threads.

The overall length of this is 3/4 of an inch. The hex head size on this is 3/8 of an inch, and it is a steel construction with zinc-plated finish, and it is case hardened. But that should do it for the review on this 1/4 inch by 14 by 3/4 inch long unslotted hex drive zinc finish self-drilling screw.

Self-Tapping Screw - 1/4" -14 x 3/4" Long - Zinc - FA1131822

Excellent product and fast service. Definitely will buy from them again for all my trailer needs.

Worked well on my boat trailer for mounting lights on metal frame. If you have never used self tapping metal screws the secret to making the process quick and easy is to drill a pilot hole just slightly smaller in diameter than the screw threads. If your drill bits are not the sharpest in the world another tip is to start with a smaller bit and then use successive larger bits until the hole is slightly smaller than the screw.

After one year of exposure to the elements an being in and out of water at boat ramps, and traveling some fairly rough roads to reach boat ramps, these fasteners are still securely in place.

Exactly what I needed to rewire a 20-year-old trailer that was starting to show it's age with inconsistent lighting performance and continuity issues. In addition to purchasing this lighting harness, I upgraded all my incandescent bulb side markers and taillights with LED units and complete rewired the trailer. etrailer had everything I needed in one place with excellent pricing and superb service. Everything is working great and I love the brightness and visibility of the LED lights.

Did the job of installing new jacks.

Good for what it is, but note that these are too short to go through, say, tie-down racks then plywood sidewalls, and into the metal framing of a utility trailer. The picture does not really show the relative length of the threaded part and the drilling part for this length screw.

Used 8 of these screws to attach two scissor jacks onto my pop-up frame. These worked just as expected

Worked as expected. Good solid quality. I did drill a small pilot hole in my trailer first to assist the speed of installation.

I am very happy with the quality of the products and the service! Most of all I want to compliment you on the instructional videos included in your websit. They are simple to follow, informative and answered several questions I had about the products and the installation. I will definitely be back when needed and highly recommend!!

I was worried that the screws might of been lost as the box the order came in was really beat up. But nope they were there.

Perfect for grounding ring terminals to my trailer.

  • Adding Lights To My Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Hitch Bike Rack
The only way you will be able to add lights to the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount, part # HLY84FR, is by attaching brackets to the rack and attaching lights to the brackets. You will need the following items: LED Light Kit for Draw-Tite, Tow Ready, Pro Series, and Rola Railed Cargo Carriers, part # 98174LED Trailer Light Mounting Bracket for 6-1/2" Oval Trailer Lights, Steel - Black Powder Coat, part # BK70BB Self-Tapping Screw...

  • Is Awning Rail Included with Solera RV Awning Roller and Fabric?
The Solera 17' Black Fade RV Awning Roller and Fabric (Std) # LCV000211498 you asked about comes with the fabric and the roller tube. It does not come with the rail extrusion like # LC715217 to mount the awning fabric to the side of the RV. If you are installing a new rail extrusion, the LaSalle Bristol XTRM Butyl Tape - 45' L x 1-1/2" W - Qty 1 # 344270341411-1 and Self-Tapping Screw - 1/4" -14 x 3/4" Long - Zinc # FA1131822 are my recommendation. • How to Install the Optronics # MCL86AB Clearance Light on a 2005 GMC Sierra
Although the Optronics # MCL86AB is designed for trailers you can possibly use it on your 2005 GMC Sierra. When a clearance light only has one wire it is because it is grounded through the mounting hardware. Since the Steel Armored LED light that you referenced has 2 wires (one for power and one for ground) you would need a ring terminal like part # DW05737-1 and a self-tapping screw like part # FA1131822 for the ground.

  • Simple Light Needed for Horse Trailer Tack Room
The easiest thing to use/install is the NightMinder RV Task Light # NM-Motion-011. This is a battery powered light that uses 3 AAA batteries (not included). All you need to do is get rechargeable batteries to avoid purchasing batteries constantly. It would also be good to get at least 6 batteries so you can have some charging while the others are in use. Obviously if you want to use more than one of this light then you'll want to get the appropriate amount of batteries. If you'd like something...

  • What Screws Are Needed to Attach a Light to an Aluminum Frame
In order to attach the Command Electronics Dual LED Trailer Tail Light - Stop, Turn, Tail, Backup - Red and Clear Lens # CE86FR to an aluminum surface you will want to use either a stainless steel, aluminum, or zinc plated screw like part # FA1131822. This is going to ensure that you do not have any corrosion problems at the point of contact between the two metals. As aluminum is a rather soft metal, you should not have any issues using self-tapping screws. I also highly recommend you use...

  • Light Kit Recommendation for Hollywood Rack E-Bike Rack # HLY84FR
We don't have anything custom fit to allow you to install lights on your Hollywood Racks SE E Bike Rack part # HLY84FR but the part # 98174LED is an LED light kit for cargo carriers that would be the best starting point we could offer. You could use the brackets # BK70BB to secure the assemblies to the rack with self tapping screws like part # FA1131822.

This light kit plugs into the 4-way that you mention because they are designed to added to cargo carriers. To add the bracket you will need self tapping screws part # FA1131822. • If Brake Wiring is Damaged do Trailer Brakes Need to be Changed Out
If it's just the wiring that has been damaged then you only need to replace the brake wires. We recommend using 10 Gauge Wire # 10-1-1 and Heat Shrink Butt Connectors # DW05745-5 for the installation. Electric brake assemblies have 2 wires; 1 for power and 1 for ground. It doesn't matter which wire on the brake assembly is used for which function. Should your ground connections be damaged as well then you can use the Ring Terminal # DW05740-1 for the ground wire and the Self-Tapping Screw...

  • Trailer Lights Go Out When Headlights and Brake Pedal are Applied
The problem you described sounds like a ground issue. What I recommend doing is running the ground wire for each of the trailer lights (assuming they do not all ground through the mounting hardware) up to the ground used for the 4-way trailer connector. I would then reground the bundle of wires for the lights and connector to a new bare metal spot on the trailer frame using both a self tapping screw like part # FA1131822 and ring terminal like part # DW05762-1. If you need additional wire...

  • Hardware For Securing Trailer Stabilizer Jacks To The Trailer Frame
When installing a Scissor Stabilizer Jack # TJSC-24 you can use Self-Tapping Screw # FA1131822 to secure it to your frame. I have linked a video below that will show you the installation of these on a travel trailer frame. Since these jacks are only for stabilizing the trailer you do not need super heavy duty fasteners. The ones we have are 1/4" and you can use up to 5/16" with the outer holes in this stabilizer.

  • Parts Needed for Custom Wiring a Trailer For Separate Turn and Brake Lighting
In order to have separate turn and brake lights on your trailer, I strongly recommend using a 2-wire to 3-wire converter, like the Tow Ready # 118158 on the trailer. This will allow you to have 4-way connectors on both the vehicle and the trailer. The 4-way connectors are much more common than 5-way connectors, and will allow to you tow other things with your vehicle, or tow your trailer with other vehicles, without the need for an adapter. This converter box is not designed to be exposed...

  • How Do I Ground The White Wire When Assembling A Malone Kayak Trailer
It is odd that the Malone instructions for the trailer # MPG464-LB do not mention connecting the ground anywhere. On a trailer like this, the white wire can be grounded on the steel frame (usually near the tongue) using a self tapping screw # FA1131822 and a ring terminal # DW05737-1. Preferably an out of the way location where it is out of the elements. Make sure it is grounded to good clean metal, free of any corrosion. A bad ground would certainly explain the issue with your lights.

The mounting holes of the Stabilizer Jack # TJ01RT are 7/16" in diameter so any bolt 1/32" smaller than that will fit the hole. The length is going to depend on your setup. The bolt thickness can be a bit smaller as long as the head of the bolt covers the 7/16" hole in the mounting plate. For example, you could use the Self-Tapping Screw # FA1131822 if you were just drilling directly into the frame.
