Used 8 of these screws to attach two scissor jacks onto my pop-up frame. These worked just as expected

by:

A little bit on the high side, when you need them you need them

by: 06/01/2021

Exactly what I needed to rewire a 20-year-old trailer that was starting to show it's age with inconsistent lighting performance and continuity issues. In addition to purchasing this lighting harness, I upgraded all my incandescent bulb side markers and taillights with LED units and complete rewired the trailer. etrailer had everything I needed in one place with excellent pricing and superb service. Everything is working great and I love the brightness and visibility of the LED lights.

Worked well on my boat trailer for mounting lights on metal frame. If you have never used self tapping metal screws the secret to making the process quick and easy is to drill a pilot hole just slightly smaller in diameter than the screw threads. If your drill bits are not the sharpest in the world another tip is to start with a smaller bit and then use successive larger bits until the hole is slightly smaller than the screw.

Comments
After one year of exposure to the elements an being in and out of water at boat ramps, and traveling some fairly rough roads to reach boat ramps, these fasteners are still securely in place.

These screws worked real good

I am very happy with the quality of the products and the service! Most of all I want to compliment you on the instructional videos included in your websit. They are simple to follow, informative and answered several questions I had about the products and the installation. I will definitely be back when needed and highly recommend etrailer.com!!

by:

Good for what it is, but note that these are too short to go through, say, tie-down racks then plywood sidewalls, and into the metal framing of a utility trailer. The picture does not really show the relative length of the threaded part and the drilling part for this length screw.

by:

Made it quick and easy to install ground wire securely and properly without getting out too many tool.

by:

Perfect for grounding ring terminals to my trailer.

by:

Worked as expected. Good solid quality. I did drill a small pilot hole in my trailer first to assist the speed of installation.

by:

installed yesterday easy install great product thanks will be ordering a front receiverfor my 2015 gmc sierra soon thanks

by:

I first drilled a pilot hole but they worked well.

  • Recommendation for Attaching Aluminum Diamond Plate Flooring to Utility Trailer
To attach the aluminum diamond plate to the floor of your utility trailer, you can use self-tapping screws like # FA1131822 or something longer depending on how thick the aluminum is. I recommend using one about every square foot if possible. These particular self-tapping screws are 1-1/4 inches long and have 1/4 inch - 14 x 3/4 inch long threads. If you will be attaching the diamond plate to the metal grate on your trailer, you will need some type of anchor or lag bolts.

  • Can Self Tapping Screw Be Used to Ground Trailer Wiring to Frame
Yes if you used a self-tapping screw like the part # FA1131822 you could use it to ground trailer wiring to a frame. Sometimes aluminum trailer frames aren't quite adequate so you may need to run a jumper wire to the main ground wire of the trailer wiring.

  • Can the Zinc Self-Tapping Screw Be Used on a Steel Frame
You are correct to a degree. When using the Self-Tapping Screw (Zinc) # FA1131822 to ground to a steel frame, it comes down to what type of steel the frame is constructed of. The Self-Tapping Screw (Zinc) # FA1131822 is ok to be used with galvanized steel and stainless steel. The only steel that could cause issues would be non-galvanized steel.

  • Wiring Colors for Trailer 4-Way Connector/Wiring
4-way wiring is pretty simple and standard. The pin with the white wire running to it that is jacketed is the ground, the one next to it is going to be brown and for running light circuit, next to it is yellow and is left turn/stop circuit, and next to that is right turn/stop circuit and is green.

  • Is Additional Converter Needed on Tow Ready T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness For 2003 Nissan Pathfinder
No separate or additional converter is needed for the Tow Ready T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118361 for your 2003 Nissan Pathfinder. All plugs and converters needed for the wiring harness to combine your vehicle's separate wiring system are included. You will simply need to plug the harness into your Pathfinder's wiring behind the left and right vehicle taillights, as seen in the video I've attached. • Option for Securing E-Track to Floor Of Car Hauler
I'd use 1/4 inch diameter lag bolts whose length is a bit more than the thickness of the floor. How many bolts you need would depend on what you're using the E-track for. I'd probably want a bolt fastening the track about every 12 inches or so, maybe closer together for a heavier load. Use a self tapper like # FA1131822 to attach to the steel floor supports if present.

  • What Fasteners Should Be Used To Attach the CE Smith Crossmember Pad
I do have an option for you but the cross member in your attached photo appears to be made of steel tubing which means there would be no access inside to attach a rivet for the CE Smith Crossmember Pad part # CE16870. That said, there are plenty of other fasteners you can use to attach these. I recommend standard self-tapping screws like part # FA1131822 as this will be easiest.

  • Hardware for Securing E-track to Wood Trailer Floor
The # TF01150 screw is meant to fasten a wood floor to a trailer, it wouldn't be my choice for attaching E-Track to a wood floor. I'd use 1/4 inch diameter lag bolts whose length is a bit less than the thickness of the floor. How many bolts you need would depend on what you're using the E-track for. • Screws to Use with the Wire Loom Clamp part # A0500
You would want to use some self-tapping screws like the part # FA1131822. These would not require you drill a pilot hole. Just line the screw up where you want it through the Loom part # A0500 and let the drill bit end of the screw drill the needed hole and the threads will pull it through and secure it.

  • What Size Mounting Bolt Should be Used for Pollack Mounting Bracket # PK11771?
The diameter of the top mounting hole on # PK11771 is 5/8 inches long by 5/16 inches wide. This means that a 1/4 inch bolt would work great to attach this mounting bracket like the self tapping # FA1131822. I have linked the above mentioned products to this page for your convenience.

  • What Screws To Use When Installing E-track To the Side Of Aluminum Trailer Frame
Zinc plated screws are going to be the best option for use with aluminum to resist galvanic corrosion. This corrosion you are referring to is from two dissimilar metals reacting so you want to use the most similar metals when installing your E-track to the side wall aluminum frame trailer. It is always safest to add a rubber or sealant to keep the metals as separate as possible even when they are compatible metals. Many times self tapping screws like # FA1131822 are the best solution.

  • Replacement Scissor Jacks for Cruiser RV Fun Finder FB189 Travel Trailer
Yes, from the specs available to me it appears your 2007 Cruiser RV Fun Finder FB189 has a dry weight of little more than 2,700 lbs. with another 3,000 lbs. plus cargo weight available; that's a lot for a smaller trailer. The etrailer Scissor Jacks with Handle and 24" Lift, # e99012, are rated for 5,000 lbs. per jack so this will work as a replacement even if you max out the 3,000 lb. cargo weight. These stabilizing scissor jacks can be either bolted or welded to the frame of your trailer...

  • Hardware For Securing Trailer Stabilizer Jacks To The Trailer Frame
When installing a Scissor Stabilizer Jack # TJSC-24 you can use Self-Tapping Screw # FA1131822 to secure it to your frame. I have linked a video below that will show you the installation of these on a travel trailer frame. Since these jacks are only for stabilizing the trailer you do not need super heavy duty fasteners. The ones we have are 1/4" and you can use up to 5/16" with the outer holes in this stabilizer.

  • Self Tapping Screw Recommendation for Installing Exterior Light on Trailer
Self tapping screws like the part # WLS100 which has a Torx head or a part # FA1131822 which is a hex head style bolt would work well. We don't normally see people seal the lights to the trailer as most light assemblies are a weather proof or waterproof design and don't require it. For a sealant we recommend the # 0160297 for sealing trailer roof vents. This would work well for a light assembly as well.

  • How to Ground a Trailer Light
I was not able to reference the tow smart light kits you are referring to but a trailer taillight will ground one of two ways. They can either ground using a single wire (usually white) or through the mounting hardware. If they ground using a single wire then that wire will need to be attached to a bare metal part of the trailer frame with a screw like part # FA1131822 and a ring terminal like part # DW05737-1. If there is any paint on the ground location then you will need to sand it down...

  • Can Ground Wire for Trailer Lights be Connected to Main Ground Wire
You can connect the ground wire from your light to the main ground circuit on your utility trailer, but we typically recommend using a ring terminal like part # DW05702-1 and matching self-tapping screw # FA1131822 to ground it to your trailer frame as this is typically a better connection. If you are having ground issues then it may be that your ground isn't securely connected to a clean, bare-metal surface. If you make sure the frame is clean before connecting ground then you should be fine.

  • How to Make Best Ground Connection for Re-Wired Boat Trailer
It does sound like your new trailer wiring needs a stronger ground connection. If the coupler and frame are both steel you can use one of the coupler mounting bolts to secure the ground ring terminal for your main wiring harness but you may need to sand off any primer or powder-coat to allow for a bare metal to bare metal connection. This bare metal contact is necessary for a trouble-free ground. You can certainly use a self-tapping screw like # FA1131822 to secure the ground. You can...

  • How to Remove Old Stripped Screws from Trailer Baggage Door Catch

You could use some self-tapping screws like # FA1131822 to avoid drilling holes first. If you know about where the wiring is you could position the bumper # D3-96 so as to avoid the wiring. Or another option would be to drill from the backside, if possible, so you can avoid the wiring for sure. Or another option would be some type of anchor bolt or screw but that would still require drilling.
