Video Transcript for 3M Wiring 44-5356A Review

Today we're going to review part number 44-5356A. This is the 3M Ring Terminal for size 10-12 gauge wire. This the 5/16" ring diameter size. These ring terminals are used for all types of electrical work where wires need to be fastened. This one is used for use with a 10-12 gauge size wire. It is designed to fit on a stud size of 5/16". It does have the vinyl insulation sleeve you can see, which is yellow. Basically, to show you how this would attach the wire I have section of 12-gauge wire right here.

I actually stripped maybe a little less than 1/2" off of there. What you want to do is basically you would slide the bare portion in right to where the metal portion is right there. You really don't want to slide it too far so it's exposed. You actually want to keep most of it underneath there. Once you have it underneath there, what I'll do is take a .. Here's a set of wire strippers.

The wire strippers will have the crimpers right down here. All you have to do is put this right in the correct size. Then when you push down on it like that, you squeeze hard enough, you can see that it will crimp that wire to that metal portion, to the ring terminal, and give you a good connection. It's not going to go anywhere. You can see you really don't want to have any of that bare wire exposed, so you want to keep it under the insulation sleeve. That should do it for the review on part number 44-5356A.

This is the 3M Ring Terminal for 10-12 gauge size wire with a 5/16" inside ring diameter. .

The manufacturer of my trailer screwed the grounding wire for the trailer into the tongue of the trailer using a self-tapping screw. That lasted about two months before the wire snapped free. Instead of having that happen again, I used this product by crimping the grounding wire to the but end and then I placed the cotter pin from the trailer coupler through the loop and the wire from that pin makes constant contact with the loop, allowing grounding. Worked like a charm and there's no tension on the grounding wire anymore. 773176

Im all thumbs and was able to totally rewire my trailer in an hour or so. No problems. I am legal again with my lights!! Thanks. 499938

  • Cost Effective Wiring To Install 7-Way For Curt Echo Controller on 2008 BMW X5 With Battery in Trunk
The Curt Trailer Connector Adapter part # C57672 can certainly be used to install a 7-Way on the 2008 BMW X5 to use the Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller part # C51180 instead of the kit part #ETBC7L. I recommend to use the Curt trailer connector part # C57672 and the Power Wire Kit for Electric Trailer Brake Controllers part # BRK-ELECKIT because it has a shorter amount (10 feet) of 12 gauge wire since your battery is in rear cargo area. This kit also comes with all of the components...

  • Will SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Drain Battery on 2006 Jeep Liberty While Flat Towing
Since the SMIStay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251 uses power from your 2006 Jeep Liberty's battery to engage the compressor, it is possible that the Stay-IN-Play could potentially drain the vehicle's battery over the course of a number of hours. We have not heard reports from our customers on this, but it is a possibility. I was not able to find any known issues of the Liberty's battery being drained while in tow mode in the vehicle's owner's manual. One thing...

  • How to Rewire Trailer for 6 Way Connection with Separate Turn Signals and Brake Lights
First you will want a new 6-way like the Hopkins 6-Way Molded Connector, # H20036. Installing the 6-way plug will be made easier by using a junction box such as # 38656. This box mounts to the trailer frame and serves as a connection point between the trailer's original wiring and the new 6-way. Also you will want some Deka jacketed 2 wire, 10 gauge, brake wire # 10-2-1 to run the brake output circuit from the junction box to the brake assemblies as well as some Deka 16-gauge bonded 4-wire...

I can help you find the parts you will need to install a Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 on your 2016 Forest River Forester on a Sprinter 3500 chassis. The P3 will need to be hardwired since there is not a custom wiring harness available for the 2016 Sprinter 3500. The parts you will need to install the brake controller are: Approximately 35 feet of duplex wire # 10-2-1 30 amp circuit breaker # 38630 A 5 pack of 10-12 heat shrink butt connectors # DW05745-5 2 yellow...

  • Can You Extend the Ground Wire When Installing Trailer Wiring?
The Curt Trailer Connector # C57672 should be grounded to any paint and debris free surface, preferably the vehicle frame; since the hitch is painted, it's not going to provide the best ground source for your 7 way connection. You can extend the ground and run it to a more convenient spot on the vehicle and you'll want to use a ring terminal like # 44-5356A (similar to the one found on the end of the ground wire of the C57672). If you need additional wiring, you can use # 10-1-1 which is...

To get power to the pin in the 1:00 position of the # PK12703 7-way trailer connector, you'd run a length of 10 gauge wire # 10-1-1 which is sold by the foot from the terminal for the 1:00 pin on the 7-way to the positive battery terminal, via a # 9510 40 amp circuit breaker. You'd need two # DW05741-1 ring terminals to connect to the breaker and a # 44-5356A ring terminal to connect at the battery.

First, use a circuit tester like # 40376 if needed, to test the 7-Way trailer connector. The 12 volt circuit will be in the 1 oclock position. If the trailer side connector pin that corresponds with the 12 volt circuit is connected to the battery on the trailer, then you will not have to change or add anything. If it is not, you can either connect the battery to that circuit or use the auxiliary pin in the center. Again, use the circuit tester to test the center pin. It may be connected...

With a fuse you would have to replace it. The 10-gauge wire is sold in 1 foot increments. There are 2 terminals on the circuit breaker. With powered a-frame jacks like the Lippert # LC285318 you referenced your best option for powering it is the battery that's mounted on the trailer as that will have the most amperage available. If your junction box runs to the trailer battery then you could run it there for a cleaner install. Or if you wanted to run it to the battery directly you certainly could.
