Video Transcript for 3M Wiring 44-5310A Review

Today, we're going to review part number 44-5310A. This is the 3M ring terminal for 12 to 10 gauge sized wire with a ring inside diameter of 3/16ths of an inch. These ring terminals are used for all types of electrical work where wires need fastening. This one is for use with a 10 or 12 gauge sized wire. It does have the vinyl insulation sleeve, which is yellow, and then the ring terminal, the inside diameter is 3/16ths so it is designed to fit on a stud size of 3/16ths of an inch. Basically, want to show you here, I got an example right here of a 12 gauge sized wire. What you would basically do is just side this into ...

You don't really want to have it sticking out. You could, but what I like to do is put it right there. Then, you're going to crimp, have a set of . This is a wire stripper with, down here is the crimping portion. If you just stick that in the very .. Put it right over there and then all you have to do is push down just like that.

Once you push down and hard enough, you can see that it crimps that wire to this ring terminal. You can see that you have a good connection. That's the reason I don't like to have the wire stick out too much because you don't want any of that exposed so if you just keep it under that insulation sleeve, you should be in good shape. That should do it for the review on part number 44-5310A. This is the 3M ring terminal for 12 to 10 gauge sized wire with the 3/16ths inch ring inside diameter. .

  • Adding Electric Brakes to Northern Tool UltraTow 5x8 Aluminum Frame Trailer
  • Because the trailer doesn't have a traditional size, in order to upgrade to trailer brakes you will need to have a welder install the Brake Mounting Flange for 1-3/4" Round Trailer Axles - 2K # 4-34 which will require the proper jig to ensure placement and alignment. Then you will need to measure your spindles to help get the correct replacement hubs to add the integrated drum. I've attached a photo of the locations to measure with a digital caliper like # PTW80157 to assist in getting...

  • How to Complete Electric Brake Wiring to Trailer Connector
  • It sounds like you have a junction box like part # 3375601101 installed on your trailer and the brake output wire from the assemblies are ran to this but not to the trailer connector. If that is the case than all you will need is a ring terminal like part # 44-5310A and some spare wire like part # 10-1-1 to finish running the brake output wire from the junction box to the trailer connector. It sound like you may also need a new trailer connector as well and for that I recommend the...

  • Wiring the Traditional Trailer 7-Way to 7-Way RV Standard
  • The Mighty Cord 7-Way RV-Style Trailer Connector, # A10-7W8, will have the same wiring configuration as the Hopkins 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector, # H20046. I recommend the Epicord 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box , # 277-000141. The junction box will allow to easily connect your trailer wiring to the new 7-way cord. Using 7 of the Ring Terminal - 12-10 Gauge Wire, # 44-5310A, you can connect your trailer wiring to the junction box. The box can attach to the trailer...

  • I can absolutely help you with this trailer. First, I recommend using the Epicord 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box - 10' Long # 277-000141 along with ring terminals # 44-5310A. This will easily allow you to convert your 4-way wiring and also add your trailer brakes using # 10-1-1. Then you can use the 10 inch # AKEBRK-35-SA for the 4 hole mounting flange or 12 inch # AKEBRK-7-SA brake assemblies for the 5 bolt mounting flange. For your charging your trailer batteries from...

If you want the trailer side 7-way with LED, I recommend the Hopkins 7-Way RV Style Trailer Connector w/ LED Test Lights - Trailer End # HM48503. This will let you know if power is being received from the tow vehicle for each function to make testing and troubleshooting easy. This is already integrated in the Hopkins 7-Way RV Style Connector w/ Molded Cable and LED Test Lights - Trailer End - 8' Long # HM20087....

  • How to Power Interior Lights of an Enclosed Trailer
  • The best way for you to power the interior lights of your enclosed trailer is with a mounted 12V battery. To do this, mount the battery with a battery box like # TLA7708R and use a junction box # 38656 to tap into your 7-way. You will also need ring terminals # 44-5310A, and wire # 12-1-1 to run to each light. You will also want a light switch such as the Pollak rocker switch # PK34308 or toggle switch # PK34571. You will be able to charge the battery when the 7-way is attached to your...

  • Wiring Needed to Rewire a Trailer for Lights and Electric Brakes
  • Both the # A40W5B and # W002290 have a blue wire that is only 5 feet long. Plus, the blue wire is only 18 gauge and 20 gauge, respectively. So these are not going to work for your application. What you're going to want to use is Bonded 4 Wire # 16-4B-1 which is sold by the foot. This will provide the four 16 gauge wires to run from the junction box, part # 277-000141, to your trailer's lights. These are self-adjusting brakes so there is no need for manual adjustments after the initial installation. The Black wire in the junction box is the one that will carry the 12V power. Just simply use a ring terminal like part # 44-5310A and run 10 Gauge Wire # 10-1-1 to the positive terminal on your battery. • The Hopkins 12-Volt Power Socket # HM55115 uses a wire gauge that can safely support up to 20-amps and that is the value of fuse supplied with this kit. I can't recommend using a 30-amp fuse in this item. What I can suggest is making your own 30-amp capable outlet by using a 30-amp auto reset circuit breaker # PK54530, 12V power outlet part # DG6112VP and 10-gauge duplex wire # 10-2-1. You'll also need some ring terminal connectors like # 44-5310A, push-on connectors like # DW05709-1...

  • Should Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack JET-4000NG Have Circuit Breaker on Power Wire
  • You can use either a fuse or an auto-reset circuit breaker on the power circuit for the Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack # JET-4000NG. Since this unit draws 13.5-amps with a 1,700-lb load a 20-amp breaker like # PK54520 will allow all needed power to reach the jack but still give you protection against shorts and overloads. You'll use ring terminals # 44-5310A, 10-gauge duplex wire # 10-2-1 and butt connectors # 05732-2. The copper color post on the breaker goes to the battery.
