Video Transcript for Draw-Tite Accessories and Parts 6495 Review

Today we're going to review part number 6495. This is the Draw Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver Winch Mounting Plate. Now this part is designed to install into your front receiver hitch and it allows you a spot to where you could mount your winch to and also easily remove it out of the hitch receiver if necessary. Does have a 2 inch solid shank right here to install into a 2 inch receiver opening. The receiver mount right up here itself is all wielded, made of a 1/4 inch thick plate, very heavy and if you'll notice on the plate itself it does come with 2 sets of 4 mounting holes and they are drilled at the 2 industry standard measurements for winches. Basically the inner set of holes if we measure center to center we're going to be right at 6 1/2 inches by 4 1/2 inches for the inner holes. The outer holes will be the industry standard 10 inches by also 4 1/2 inches.

They've got 2 different sets that you can use for the majority of the winches out there. Has a nice durable black powdered coat finish helps resist corrosion. Right up here you can see this are your fairly mounting points, you can mount your fairly to this. Once your winch is on here, your cable or rope would come out this way through the fairly. We also offer a optional handle guard kit. It's part number 698O that we sell separately.

It is listed on this product page as related product and what it is nice about that they are 2 handles, big, large metal handles and they would bolt underneath onto the plate and then with those handles it will make it easier to pick up and install into the vehicle, makes installation a lot easier and because the handles are right on the side here and they are very heavy duty. They also protect the winch from getting hit, it protects it. Now this is a universal design and because of the dual mounting patterns, it will support most major winch models out there. Would include the Ramsey models, some of the Warn models, some of the super winch models and numerous other brands that haze those bolt patterns. Now a few measurements on this, I want to give you the overall length and width of this. If we put a ruler on, it's going to be 13 inches and if we measure, and if you lift this up, from here to here that's going to be right at 7 3/4 inches and then the shank measurement from the edge of the plate to the end of the shank is going to be right at 7 3/8 inches long.

But again what you would end up doing is mounting your winch to one of those bolt patterns and then what you'd be able to do is slide this right into your front hitch, put your pin and clip in, and you'd be already to go. That should do it for the review on part number 6495, the Draw Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver Winch Mounting Plate. .

Do you have a question about this Accessories and Part?

  • Utility Trailer Winch Mounting Options
  • You would not be able to mount a winch to a wood bed if you are going to put any kind of load on it. You would need to get the winch mounted to the steel frame somehow. To do this you can use U bolts to attach through the wood bed to the trailer frame, if there is steel frame below the bed. Otherwise you will want to fabricate a mounting location for your trailer. Since you were looking at the Front Mount Trailer Hitch Winch Plate, part # 6495, you could purchase a Hitch Receiver tube...

  • Recommendation for a Mounting Plate for a Badlands Winch
  • You will need to check the bolt hole mounting pattern of your Badlands Winch, but we do offer several hitch mounted winch mounting plates that may work. First we have the Curt Mounting Plate, # C31010. On it, the first set of mounting holes are 10 by 4-1/2 inches, and the second set of mounting holes measure 6-1/2 by 4-1/2 inches center to center. I have included a picture showing the various dimensions of the Curt mounting plate. Next we have the very basic Superwinch Portable...

  • Wiring and Mounting Superwinch S5500 Electric Winch to Front of Trailer
  • To wire an electric winch like the Superwinch S5500 referenced in your question to your trailer, I recommend using the Superwinch Trailer and Vehicle Electric Winch Wiring Kit # SW2008. This kit uses quick disconnects and will include the wire and connectors needed to install the winch on your aluminum trailer. I have also included an article on wiring an electric winch that you might find helpful. You will want to secure the winch to the frame of your trailer. This is typically...

  • How to Mount Winch to Utility Trailer
  • Yes you can mount a winch to a trailer to allow it to pull things up onto the trailer. You could purchase a Hitch Receiver tube and have it welded to the the trailer frame like part # E-9. With a piece like this welded to the frame, you could use the Winch Plate # 6495 mount to attach your winch. Then you could use the winch part # 1220210 to pull things up onto your trailer.

This mount is all welded and ready to use right out of the box. The plate on the part # 6495 is 1/4 inch thick and has the same mounting hole pattern as the C31010. • Although the Draw-Tite # 40050 is only for 1964 Chevy C/K 8 foot bed 2WD as you stated, there are other options available for your 4x4 truck. I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 75034 which is a fit for your truck if you have a standard bumper. If you have a deep drop bumper, then I recommend the # 41504. All of these hitch receivers are compatible with the Tow Ready J-Pin Stabilization Pin and Barrel Lockset for 2" Trailer Hitches...

  • Is there a Hitch-Mounted Winch Mounting Plate for a Warn 8274 Winch

I have included pictures showing the mounting hole patterns for each so you can compare them to your Warn winch to determine if either will work. Even if a winch is not listed on the page that doesn't mean it won't fit which is why the hole spacing measurements are important.

  • What is Weight Capacity of Draw-Tite Front Mount Hitch Receiver Winch Mounting Plate # 6495
  • I checked with my contact at Draw-Tite and they said that the Draw-Tite Front Mount Hitch Receiver Winch Mounting Plate, part # 6495, is designed for use with winches up to a 9,000-lb line pull rating. The reason for the 9,000-lb maximum is because he said most all of the front mount receiver hitches are only designed for winches with a maximum line pull rating of 9,000 lbs, so the front hitch on the vehicle will be the limiting weight capacity.

  • Winch Recommendation to Pull a 2010 Ford F-250 Super Duty Out of Mud

Keep in mind that when your truck is stuck and you want to use a winch to pull it out, you are pulling the weight of the truck plus the weight of the mud and any additional force against the truck that is created by the mud. And then for a winch mounting bracket for the hitch we have the part # 6495. Or if you wanted to mount the winch at the rear of the vehicle you could use a rear mounted trailer hitch with the # 6495.
