Today we're gonna take a look at the Dexter 12 and a quarter inch right hand passenger side self adjusting hydraulic drum brake assembly. A hydraulic drum brake assemblies are designed for use with surge type trailer brake actuators. This one is a duo server, which means that it has the dual plunger design. This will deliver the same amount of braking when driving either forward or in reverse. This is also a self adjusting brake and you can tell that by the cable. It goes around the ploy, connects to the lever down here that will automatically adjust the adjustment gear.
Self adjusting brakes will automatically adjust to deliver optimum performance and braking power. There's no need for manual brake adjustments and what helps is proper adjustment will lead to better brake efficiency and less wear on your tow vehicle brakes. This part includes the right hand passenger side brake assembly. Mounting bolts and hardware to install this is sold separately. A few specs on this; the diameter is 12 and a quarter inches, the width is five inches, and where those measurements are is the 12 and a quarter be the diameter from this brake shoot all the way over to this brake shoot. If we go edge to edge, there's your 12 and a quarter inch.
The five inches again is the width of the pad inaudible 01:07 If we put a ruler on that, there's your five inch wide. This does install on a brake mounting inaudible 01:13. It has a seven bolt pattern. You see the seven holes in it. It does require the use of 12 and a quarter inch brake drums.
The wheel sizes on this has to be 15 inches or larger and it is designed for an axle rating of 12,000 pounds. And the last thing I want to mention to you is this is a right hand design and the way to tell that, now in a new assembly there will be a sticker that'll tell you that but if the sticker wasn't there, the best way to tell that is just to look at the length of the brake pad on the shoes. This pad goes from here to here. And this one goes all the way from here to here. This is longer pad, this is the shorter pad. The shorter pad is the primary shoe that will always face the front of the trailer, so that tells you that this is a right hand passenger side brake assembly.
That should do it for the review on the Dexter 12 and a quarter inch right hand passenger self adjusting hydraulic drum brake assembly.
