Male Speaker: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Dexter trailer springs over/under conversion kit. This conversion kit is designed to fit 2-3/8 inch diameter axles. It's going to allow you to move the trailer release springs to the top of the axle without having to change the correct orientation of the axle. This is going to help with leveling your trailer. It's going to help wheel well clearance, and it also adds some height to prevent dragging, dipping, and bottoming out. One kit is going to come with enough components for one axle, so one kit per axle.

This is designed for use with double-eye springs only. The unit's going to include two spring seats. These are going to sit on top of your axle. It's going to come with eight nuts. It's going to come with four u-bolts. Two tie-down plates, the tie-down plates sit on top of your release springs once you have them moved to the top of the axle.

It's got the holes in it, that way the u-bolts can wrap around the axle and come up through the plate. You can secure it by installing the included nuts. It's going to come with the spacer nuts. These are going to allow the setup to install level. Basically, you would have one spring seat on top of the axle, then your old spring seat would still be under the axle. The spacer nut is going to fill that gap between the two spring seats.

You would place this on until it makes contact with the bottom spring seat. Then what you would need to do, which is highly recommended from the manufacturer, is tack weld this to the axle. That's the only welding that's required, or highly recommended, that you tack weld this to the axle. Then you can finish the tightening process or any minimal adjustments simply using a wrench. The u-bolt length on the unit is going to measure 5-1/8th of an inch. Everything that you see here on the table is included.

It's also going to come with some detailed installation instructions to help with the installation process. This is a bolt on installation, but again because there is a little bit of highly recommended tack welding that needs to take place, we can't say that it's a fully bolt on installation. Overall, it's a nice unit. We're looking at all steel components, and it's going to last a long time. This is going to allow you to move the trailer release springs to the top of the axle without having to change the correct orientation of your axle. This is really going to come in handy when it comes to leveling the trailer, gaining some extra wheel well clearance, and trying to add some clearance to prevent those situations where you may be dragging, dipping, or bottoming out. That's going to do it for today's look at the Dexter trailer springs over-under conversion kit.

Great conversion kit, easy to get the plates lined up perfectly. I welded the new saddles onto the axle and welded the nuts to the bolts so there is zero chance of anything moving. Having the plates held in perfect position while welding made it simple. Solved the "dragging wheels problem" without having to cut off and reweld the fenders (which had been welded without enough clearance to the tires at the factory.)

Over the years, my 15ft Sunline had been dragging at times, wheels wearing into the sides and tops of the wheel wells. With the help of etrailer my mechanic and I found the axle kit, bolts, and supplies to put the springs over the axle and make everything really solid. What a blessing, finally I was able to seal the wheel wells and indeed all the perimeter frame tightly. ( We also used angle stock to strengthen the whole frame) Finally I have a trailer that does not leak and is dust free inside after each trip. I used over 40 tubes of GE silicone sealant in sealing up all the leaks; for they were wide cracks; followed with Dyco 20/20 sealer several coats over the wheel wells.

This was great! My camper was really low in the back when pulling it behind my 4WD Silverado. Took a few hours but was pretty easy to install this. It would have been nice to have pictures with the instructions, but it wasn't too tough to figure out.

High quality product. Straight toward install and has held up very well. Installed in a driveway in a few hours. I installed this kit on my 1974 komfort camper last year and have put highway and dirt road miles on it since. I take it elk hunting and get into some tight rough situations and haven't had any issues. It gave the camper just the right amount of clearance and it pulls level behind my Tundra with a curt anti sway stabilizer hitch. Before this kit my campers ground clearance was awful and I was always worried about puncturing my holding tank. This product fixed that problem.

Needed to lift my 2015 Pacific Coachworks trailer as it dragged the hitch and bumper . Easy install DIY for me as I am Handy. Took the entire day, taking my time for measurements. Had to jack up the trailer quite high, 2 feet lots of cribbing. I had a wire feed welder and tacked the brackets to the axle. Gained over 4+ inches. Never drags anywhere now even offroad. Tows no different, with my Fastway e-2 10k hitch. Before and after pics.

The kit worked great.It raised my cargo conversion about 4" for clearance.I had a local welding shop weld the saddles and make some 1" square stock brackets.I attached small bump stops on the brackets to limit the suspension travel.Perfect solution.

This kit does exactly what it advertises. Gave me 4 1/2 in of lift. It is very straightforward to install. The only difficult part was getting the trailer up on jack stands. Make sure you do it on level ground, it makes jacking it much easier. I also had an issue with not having enough spacer nuts. I actually bought two kits and both only had 2 nuts and 4 are needed. There is no packing list so use the picture in the etrailer ad. etrailer was great about making it right.

Excellent product! Everything needed is included. After reading online, we decided to have the spring seats welded to the axle tube to ensure they didn't have any chance of ever moving. The amount of lift this flip kit provided was perfect. We drove over many areas (honestly, most often entry/exit aprons in hilly towns) where the trailer would certainly have been scraping the ground without this kit. With it, we had no concerns!! Our skid bars are pristine. And But 15,000 miles later over every conceivable type of terrain on a single-axle, 4000 lb travel trailer, all is well! It does decrease gas mileage by 1-2 mpg, and I would not recommend driving the trailer across steep slopes (left to right...up/down is fine....and it's not a good idea to drive across steep slopes even without a lift). But otherwise, it essentially towed the same.

We contacted Becky on a Saturday and she promised to work with the manufacturer of the kit first thing Monday to resolve the issue, and she did. I seldom use the term "money well spent" but it really applies to this kit. The install was not hard and the results were exactly what I needed. Now my ATV trailer sits level behind my truck. I wont be tearing the license plate off in the dips and low crossings anymore and it looks much better riding level instead of having a slope to it.

I ordered this kit to keep my 19' Coleman tent trailer from dragging the rear bumper on direveway approaches. Install was super simple, finished everything in about 40 minutes. I gained about 5 inches of added height. I chose to not tack weld the perches in case the next owner doesn't like the height. No problems with a few thousand miles of rough roads. Highly recommended.

All parts are in box. I watched a few videos and it actually went really well. Instead of tacking I put a full weld on. Raised my camper a solid 6 to 8 inches. People complain about the u bolts being smaller but the u bolts no longer support the weight and the need for larger bolts no longer exist when putting the axle under the spring vs above. Very satisfied. Took 5 hours including lunch break and painting.

It took me 1.5 hours from start to finish, including clean-up, to install this kit. The instructions were simple and easy to follow, but remove the old u-bolts, plates and nuts - reassemble immediately for a reference of how the new bolts and plates go on (just upside down instead). I got a 5" lift as a result of using this kit. Currently, I am only using the nuts and spacing bolts but plan on getting the spring seats welded at some point. etrailer.com delivered them quickly, with great communication throughout the process.

Quick shipping. Great kit, was done in about 4.5 hours including welding the brackets and the leveling nuts. I have flipped axels before without this kit, and thought I would try it. Love it. Added about 5.5 inches which was needed since i dont camp in parks. This was installed on a Mallard 24C. Didnt have to cut brake wires as i got a model that they had spare inches of wire. Do yourself a favor and get new bushing sleeves for the springs and drop them. Makes it so much easier.

Perfect fit! I put this kit on my K-Z sportsmen classic camper. Like I said it was a perfect easy fit. Jacking the camper up took the longest. The kit says you can just bolt it on but we welded to be extra safe. I also went from an 13inch tire to a 14inch tire. Also upgraded to a load D tire. With the tires and axle flip I gained 6 extra inches. It now fits my truck perfect and the better tires made it way more stable. Would highly recommend. I was also quoted $130 for a similar kit by my local RV service garage. Buy this to save the money. Even if you get this and need to pay someone to do the recommended welds it’s going to save you money. I’ll include some before and after pictures.

My order arrived on the date they said it would. It was an easy installation, even for this 76 year-old. The hardest part was getting up and down with my bad knees. After the installation I had to start placing 3 Yellow leveling block under each stabilizer jack. And I will need to purchase a new Hitch because my camper is now sitting nose low. That was all expected! etrailer is the best! I've ordered many items for my camper from etrailer over the years and have never had a problem.

I gave a 5 star even though there were Dingle berries on the radius cut outs. They chipped off easy enough, but I used to weld for a living. Also I used my old spring plate along with yours so that the spring was sandwiched between them. That way the radius on the plate still worked with the spring. Everything fit great and was as simple as could be. Great product and I could not make them cheaper or better.

Extremely Satisfied. This fit my travel trailers axels perfectly. I achieved the height that I was needing. The install was straight forward and not hard or complicated at all. For me, I had to have the travel trailer completely raised and both axels off at the same time.This released the tension on the springs. Use the center links to dismount the axels. NOTHING needs to be pounded out. I had no need to call for advise or technical assistance. Bottom line, excellent product, easy to install and very affordable for a DYI'er. Project was a 2005 24 foot Gulfstream with the Drexel axles.

Great product!! Worked perfectly on my 2015 KZ Sportsmen Classic 16 BH. Before lift body @ 18" and top of wheel well @ 26.5" After lift body @ 23" and top of wheel well @ 31.5" Easy conversion with a little elbow grease. I did weld as suggested.

Product arrived 2 days ahead of scheduled delivery day. Everything was intact. I would recommend spraying bolts and nuts with some lube a few times 1 to 2 days before you decide to tackle the job. I did have to extend the break wiring. The job took about 3 to 4 hours total to complete.

    I do have all of the components you will need to flip the axle on your tent trailer but there is not an all inclusive kit per se to do so. However, the kits are pretty basic as all they include are u-bolts, tie plates, and spring seats.
