Video Transcript for Deka Wiring 05731-5 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the five pack of 16 to 14 gauge butt connectors. These vinyl insulated blue butt connectors have a wire range of 16 to 14 gauge. The wire gauge, you can see it fits, is actually stamped on here. They do use chamfered barrel ends in the inside to allow fast and easy wire insertion from both ends. The very middle has a built in wire stop for accurate positioning of the wires and these must be crimped at the ends for a good insulated connection, and this part comes as a quantity of five. But, that should do it for the review on the five pack of the 16 to 14 gauge butt connectors..

Not water tight silicone butt connectors wouldn't use these 716416

Comments
While we dont have butt connectors designed to be water tight, we do have heat-shrink butt connectors like part # DW05744-5
Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connector - 16-14 Gauge - Nylon Insulation - Blue - Qty 5
$7.26
as well as primary wire heat shrink tubing # DW05451
Primary Wire Heat-Shrinkable Tubing - 18-14 Gauge - Black - 1/8" Shrink Diameter - 6" Long
$8.18
. The heat shrink design is intended to help keep as much water as possible out of the wiring connection.

Wanted to upgrade my trailer to LED tail lights during an overhaul an new flooring. I ordered a Ventline Vanair RV vent fan. It arrived on time and in good shape. I believe I paid a fair price for this item. I have not yet installed the fan, but have no reason to suspect it will not be the exact replacement for the defective one in my Airstream. I also purchased the butt connectors to hook up the fan during installation. 274734

I installed the fan and it works fine.

  • Lighting Requirements for 16-Foot Trailer That Needs New Lights and Wiring
We can help you with new lighting and wiring for your 16-foot trailer. A trailer's type, size and weight determine the type and number of lights it must legally have to be compliant with DOT regulations. We have a helpful article that covers these requirements in detail and it is linked for you. I also linked an article on trailer wiring that shows how each different wiring connector type is set up. Our main pages for trailer lighting and wiring parts are included too. For a whole...

  • Recommended Wiring Connectors for 14 to 16 Gauge Wires to Protect From Weather
I have a solution for you, but the # 05731-5 are not heat shrink style butt connectors, so heating them isn't going to provide any protection. Instead I recommend using the Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connector - 16-14 Gauge - Nylon Insulation - Blue - Qty 5 # DW05744-5, which can be heated up to provide some insulation from the elements. This would be the best solution it sounds like and would be my recommendation.

  • Wiring Harness for Curt Spectrum Trailer Brake Controller on 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
The correct adapter for the Curt Spectrum # C51170 trailer brake controller on your 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is Wiring Adapter for Curt Trailer Brake Controllers # C51515. One end of this adapter will plug into your Spectrum brake controller and the other end will splice into your Jeep's brake controller wiring; you can use Butt Connectors # 05731-5 to help make this connection. I have added a link to a video review of Adapter # C51515 for you to check out as well.

  • Installing a Trailer Brake Controller on a 2013 Toyota Tundra with OEM Brake Controller Harness
It sounds like you have the factory brake controller harness so all you will have to do is plug the one end into the truck and attach the wires from the other end to the brake controller using butt connectors like # 05731-5. Your factory harness most likely will plug into the same place as the aftermarket # 3040-P. The plug-in port should be located under the dash, left of the steering column taped to another harness near/above the emergency brake pedal. I have linked the instructions...

  • Parts Needed to Totally Rewire Trailer
The Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit # e99011 is a good place to start. It gives you a new 7-way and wiring to a junction box where you can then wire all of the circuits to. Additional hardware that you may need is 3/16 Inch Ring Terminals, # 44-5310A, 1/4 Inch Ring Terminals, # DW05702-1, 12-10 Gauge Butt Connectors, # 05732-2, 16-14 Gauge Butt Connectors, # 05731-5, and electrical tape. And finally 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 which is sold by the foot and 12 gauge wire # 12-1-1....

(You can use the smaller diameter of the ceiling garnish as a template.) 2.Remove the two screws from the roof cap and then take off the cap for access to the mounting holes. 3.Apply sealant to bottom of flange. • Replacement Trailer Wiring Harness For 2013 Toyota Tacoma
There are a couple options depending on the wiring you have on your Tacoma. If you smashed your 4-way connector on your truck and want to replace the entire wiring harness then I recommend part # 118496. This plugs into the vehicle wiring either behind the tail lights or along the frame rail of your truck. This includes the tail light converter and is a plug and play harness. If you tore up the 4-way connector you can simply just use a 4-way connector like part # HM48030. You can...

  • Parts Needed to Make 2-Pole DC to 12V DC Power Plug Adapter
I have a solution for you, but we do not offer a 3 ft. 2-pole to 12V DC power plug adapter harness. Your only option is to connect 3 of # HM47965 to reach your required length, or to cut off one plug on one of them and use heat shrink connectors # DW05744-10 to join the wire leads to additional 16-gauge wire such as # 16-1-1. You can then simply hardwire the extension leads to the Rear View Safety Cigarette Lighter Adapter # RVS-505 using the same style connectors mentioned above.

  • Wire Recommendation for Rewiring Utility Trailer with Brakes
For the brake circuit of your trailer you will want to run 10 gauge wire like our part # 10-1-1 which is sold by the foot and is standard copper primary wire. We use it all the time here on trailers and it works great. For bonded 14 gauge wire that has 4 wires bundled you would want the part # DW04923-1 which is also sold by the foot. A lot of times people use junction boxes like the part # 38656 to organize the wires on the trailer. Check out the install video I attached for more...

There are a couple of places you can access a dedicated brake light only circuit on your 2000 Chevy Silverado. We have different size butt connectors like # 05732-2 for 12 to 10 gauge wires and # 05731-5 for 16 to 14 gauge wires. You will want to be careful when adding lights to a trailer. • Recommendation to Replace Trailer 5-Way That Has 9 Wires

I highly recommend following the wiring from the connector on your trailer and testing them for function to verify this. We do not have any 5-Way connectors available with...
