Video Transcript for Deka Wiring 05731-5 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the five pack of 16 to 14 gauge butt connectors. These vinyl insulated blue butt connectors have a wire range of 16 to 14 gauge. The wire gauge, you can see it fits, is actually stamped on here. They do use chamfered barrel ends in the inside to allow fast and easy wire insertion from both ends. The very middle has a built in wire stop for accurate positioning of the wires and these must be crimped at the ends for a good insulated connection, and this part comes as a quantity of five. But, that should do it for the review on the five pack of the 16 to 14 gauge butt connectors..

While we dont have butt connectors designed to be water tight, we do have heat-shrink butt connectors like part # DW05744-5
Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connector - 16-14 Gauge - Nylon Insulation - Blue - Qty 5
$4.20
as well as primary wire heat shrink tubing # DW05451
Primary Wire Heat-Shrinkable Tubing - 18-14 Gauge - Black - 1/8" Shrink Diameter - 6" Long
$4.13
. The heat shrink design is intended to help keep as much water as possible out of the wiring connection.

Wanted to upgrade my trailer to LED tail lights during an overhaul an new flooring. After stopping at 4 auto supply stores that carried the brand I wanted but only stocked the most expensive ones the company offered, I went to etrailer an stopped wasting my time. Exactly what I wanted. Priced honestly, and delivered quickly. Won't waste the time & gas next time. Just come back to etrailer an be completely satisfied. 332107

I ordered a Ventline Vanair RV vent fan. It arrived on time and in good shape. I believe I paid a fair price for this item. I have not yet installed the fan, but have no reason to suspect it will not be the exact replacement for the defective one in my Airstream. I also purchased the butt connectors to hook up the fan during installation. 274734

Comments

I installed the fan and it works fine.

We have all wiring parts you'll ever need plus a wide range of trailer lights if you need light fixtures too. Our main page for trailer wiring items is linked and this includes many product categories you can just click on. New wiring is most easily installed using a junction box like # 38656, or like # 277-000141 which includes a pre-wired 7-way plug. All brake and light wiring...

  • Turn Signals Will Not Work When Hooking up a 2016 Nissan Rogue to Trailer With 4-Pole
  • You will want to start off by checking all of your grounds and making sure that they are all securely connected to a clean surface; sometimes even some paint can cause problems like yours to occur. The next thing you will want to look at is the connector on both your 2016 Nissan Rogue and your trailer. Make sure that they are clean and free of debris. If this is the case then you can test the functions on the rear of your Rogue using a Circuit Tester # 40376 to make sure all of the functions...

  • Installing a Trailer Brake Controller on a 2013 Toyota Tundra with OEM Brake Controller Harness
  • It sounds like you have the factory brake controller harness so all you will have to do is plug the one end into the truck and attach the wires from the other end to the brake controller using butt connectors like # 05731-5. Your factory harness most likely will plug into the same place as the aftermarket # 3040-P. The plug-in port should be located under the dash, left of the steering column taped to another harness near/above the emergency brake pedal. I have linked the instructions...

And finally a vehicle side 5-Way, # 20016. It will be assembled like in the picture I have provided using butt connectors like # 05731-5. It is a 2-wire design so all you need is power for the red wire and the black wire is your ground. You can use part # 16-1-1 and # DW02359-1 that is jacketed Black and White wire. It is sold by the foot so you will need to keep that in mind when ordering. For butt connectors I recommend part # 05731-5. You can also install...

  • Replacement Trailer Wiring Harness For 2013 Toyota Tacoma
  • There are a couple options depending on the wiring you have on your Tacoma. If you smashed your 4-way connector on your truck and want to replace the entire wiring harness then I recommend part # 118496. This plugs into the vehicle wiring either behind the tail lights or along the frame rail of your truck. This includes the tail light converter and is a plug and play harness. If you tore up the 4-way connector you can simply just use a 4-way connector like part # HM48030. You can...

Often times, people will run the wires from a 7-way such as yours to a junction box like part # 38656. From there, they will run the standard wire colors to the trailer lights, brakes and battery. I personally really like the Epicord 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box - 10' Long # 277-000141. This will allow you to use ring terminals # 44-5310A to make your connections. We have different size butt connectors like # 05732-2 for 12 to 10 gauge wires and # 05731-5 for 16 to 14 gauge wires. You will want to be careful when adding lights to a trailer.
