    • Bottom cutout is sized to sit securely on extender crossbar

Specs:

  • Dimensions: 18" long x 5" wide
  • Bottom cutout: 2-1/2" wide x 1-1/2" deep

The Extend-a-Truck load extender is an economical storage alternative that is easily removable and absolutely adjustable to fit multiple cargo applications. Now, with Darby's Kayak Block, you can use this handy rack as a canoe and kayak carrier, too. With varying extension abilities and a 350-lb load capacity, the Extend-a-Truck can accommodate almost any kayak.

Place this sturdy, non-scratch foam block across the extension's top crossbar to create a safe and secure cradle for your boat to sit in. The wide cutout on the bottom of the block allows it to fit securely over the crossbar and is designed to fit over most roof-rack bars as well, so you can purchase another to ensure that both ends of your kayak are cradled in protective foam during transport.

As with all the items I have purchased from etrailer the service was great. I received the foam block quickly and it is of good quality foam rubber. Now I can put my two kayaks on the pickup truck kayak carrier I got from etrailer and enjoy kayaking with my wife. 811609

Product was very good and met my needs. The foam was more dense than I expected, which was a good thing. I was afraid it might not provide the support needed. 808034

I'm very pleased with my purchase. I planned on using it to carry a shell (skinny rowboat) when I purchase it. There is a lake near me that will allow me to do my rowing. I haven't gotten the shell yet, but I needed to purchase and bring home a 20' long 2'x4' piece of lumber. I used this to do it and it worked fine. I need to bring some string and some bungee cords in order to secure the item to the front rail. But other than that, it works fine. 732827

It’s a sturdy piece of foam but is notched out larger than my bed extender. Thus has a sloppy fit. I bought it and didn’t use it for a few months so I didn’t try to return it. 718449

This foam pad fits the T bar on my Darby hitch extender perfectly on the wide channel side. It does not snugly fit the Darby bar carrier at all. So, if you are trying to load a kayak or a canoe (or anything else you need a pad for) by yourself, you will have to slip this pad underneath the load afterwards because there is no way that pad is staying on the bar by itself unless you glue it on. Maybe you could use velcro tape. I had a second person help. Perhaps the pad is designed as a universal thing but I feel the narrow channel should be made to snugly fit bar on the rooftop carrier. That's just my opinion, I could be wrong. I rate it 3 stars. 1 star missing for the fit. 1 star missing due to the annoyance factor. 545422

Bought this item in conjunction with the Darby extend a truck kit. It’s a nice added piece for those hauling recreational boats (kayak for me). Keeps your equipment from getting damaged while providing a secure ride for your boat. Highly recommended! 540949

These foam blocks are pretty basic, but they seem to be of good quality and should hold up just fine for many years of cushioning kayaks on the Darby Extend-a-Rack. I'm very pleased with the quick order & delivery process at etrailer, and that's one of the reasons I keep coming back as a customer. etrailer has a great selection, fair prices, and great customer service... not to mention the very helpful instructional & informational videos, etc. You really can't go wrong purchasing from etrailer! 439105

Im still a very satisfied customer! The kayak blocks are still fine, and the extend-a-rack is great as well. Very easy to use and function as intended. Also. as a testament to your company, I will soon be ordering another un-related product from etrailer for my pickup ramps to roll my snow-blower onto the truck bed. Ill need them to transport the blower to my in-laws house this winter to help remove snow. Gotta plan ahead :o

  • What is Needed to Haul 2 Kayaks With the Darby Hitch Extender and Crossbar Kit
The Darby Hitch Extender and Crossbar kit part # DTA944-968-924 comes with a foam block and straps to secure one kayak. For a second foam block you'd want the # DTA924 and then for straps you'd want the part # TH521. You'll need a quantity of two of the strap kits since the Darby does not include any.

  • How to Carry 2 Kayaks with the Darby Extend-A-Truck Kayak Carrier on a 2013 Toyota Tundra
The foam block that comes with the Darby Extend-A-Truck Kayak Carrier # DTA944-968-924 is really only meant to be used with 1 kayak so if you plan on carrying 2 you need to acquire more blocks with part # DTA924. We do have some tie-downs attached to the load extender down to the safety chain loops to help stabilize the load extender. Please note that this kit is meant to be used for short distances as the roof rack crossbar is very basic and isn't meant for long distance traveling....

  • Will Darby Extend-A-Truck Kayak Carrier DTA944-968-924 Hold SUP and Kayak
Since the T load bar on the Darby Extend-A-Truck Kayak Carrier # DTA944-968-924 is 48-inches and the included roof rack bar adjusts from 45 to 60-inches you should have no problem at all placing a kayak and a SUP on this carrier. Most kayaks have a strongly tapered bow and stern so these parts will not take up that much space on the T bar or the roof rack bar. What you can do is measure the SUP and kayak lengths to determine what part of each will actually rest on the bars. This will...

The Darby Extend-A-Truck Hitch Mounted Load Extender - Roof or Truck Bed # DTA944 will allow you to carry your kayaks on your factory roof rack with the support you need at the back of your truck. The Load Extender has a load bar that is 48 inches wide and is adjustable in height from 53-3/8 inches to 60-3/8 inches tall from the bottom of the shank to the top of the crossbar.
