  • Provides clearance required for your short-bed pickup to turn safely at slow speeds
    • Prevents trailer from hitting the cab of your pickup during sharp, slow-speed turns
  • Works with Curt E16 (16515) and A16 (16520) 5th-wheel trailer hitches rated at 16,000 lbs
    • If converting an E16 hitch, a roller adapter will be required (C16505 - sold separately)
  • Slides smoothly on rounded, non-binding rods
  • Designed for use on trucks with beds shorter than 8'
    • Not recommended for use on truck beds shorter than 6'
  • Mounts to industry-standard rails
  • Constructed of durable, carbide powder coated steel

  • Gross towing weight: 16,000 lbs
  • Travel: 12" front to back
  • 5-Year warranty

Note: When using this slider, your hitch head will not adjust to the lowest height setting.

Most often used on trucks with 6' and 6-1/2' beds, this roller helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a roller to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Non-Binding Design

The round-tube design of this slider allows for relatively uninhibited movement of your fifth-wheel hitch. Because your hitch can glide smoothly and easily along the rods, there is less chance of binding.

With straight, flat contact points, as found with square-tube sliders, tension can build between the slider and the hitch when your truck and trailer are somewhat out of line or are on uneven ground. As a result, it can be difficult to properly activate the slider when your truck and trailer are not in a straight line.

With a round-tube slider, there is more give between the contacting surfaces, allowing better mobility of the hitch system. Fewer corners means less tension buildup. Activating a round-tube slider is easier, and operation as a whole is smoother.

I also give etrailer a 5 star. I'm very happy etrailer could support me and provide this product. FYI... I had purchased same item on another online site because etrailer was out of stock. The first one never arrived. The replacement showed up but was re-boxed by UPS and bolts and other parts to assemble was missing. Curt told me they could not get me the missing items and suggested to return and reorder. Thake you etrailer for having restocked. If your reading this just order from etrailer. etrailer technically boxed the original shipping container in one of theirs boxes. Only suggestion would be to ship this via freight not UPS. UPS was the problem in the other orders... although they delivered this one okay, I guess tells me they are batting.

- C16560

The Curt sliding base for the Q16 seems to do what it is intended to do. I have only connected and disconnected once so far, and the first time I connected I could not pull out the activating arm to allow the hitch to move forward to the tow position. Moving the truck forward slightly seemed to unbind the mechanism. However, if this is going to be a routine step, it will be a bit of an annoyance. I expected this product to operate easily.

I would now rate this item as 1 star. In addition to binding up each time it was used, and it rusted so badly that I got tired of repaining it every time I used it. I would not recommend purchase of this item until Curt makes improvements and powder coats this product rather thsn using some substandard paint.

This took a while to receive. The original shipment was destoyed by UPS and they would not even try to deliver it even though they said I had refused it. The replacement order took a week to get here because UPS had a delay. The replacement IMHO should have sent Next Day Air with UPS footing the bill. The delivering driver did not seem too happy about the weight and when he got it too my garage(after breaking a tree limb) just dropped it on the garage floor. One end of the internal box was broken open and the crossmember weldment had one tab bent but it still appears to be usable. This unit fit perfectly in the floor mount rails and looks like it is going to work fine. Will find out in a couple of days

- C16560

Product works very well and is good quality. Excellent service from Etrailer made this an easy puchase!

- C16560

The delivery vendor dropped kicked the product. The box was tattered, but because of the design of the product it appears undamaged. May have more to report after the product is installed in the next 30 to 60 days or so. Product is heavy duty as it should be for the tasks that it will perform.

  • How to Convert Curt A16 Fixed Hitch to a Sliding Hitch for a 2018 GMC Sierra 2500 with Prep Package
Yes, you can convert your Curt A16 5th wheel hitch over to a sliding version by using the Curt R16 Round Tube Slider # C16560 as well as the Adapter Rails # C16023. This is a manual sliding 5th wheel hitch. If you'd rather upgrade to an autosliding 5th wheel hitch then you need the Demco Hijacker Autoslide # DM8550034 and the Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter # DM6194. This option is less cost-effective but does offer the convenience of being able to stay in your cab during tight turning...

If your rails are also Curt rails then you can use bracket kit # C16306 on your 2014 Ram 1500 short bed. However, with this kit there is some frame drilling required. The reason that I mention the Curt kit is because if you have Curt rails then you will need to use Curt brackets. Manufacturers do not test their brackets/rails with other manufacturers brackets/rails. This makes the capacity unknown, voids the warranties, and there can be some compatibility issues. • Can a Reese 5th Wheel Hitch Head be Installed on a Curt Round Tube Slider Base
No, the components of 5th wheel hitches from different manufacturers are not compatible. One of the major issues is that the parts are not tested together so it voids the warranty on both products and makes the capacity unknown even if the parts could physically fit each other which they can't. Reese has 2 slider bases that could potentially work depending on which Reese hitch you have. There is the square tube slider # RP30048 and the round tube slider # RP50024.
