Today well be reviewing the Camco lights out retractable shade for RV roof beds. Part number CAM42913. The retractable shade is made out of a durable light weight vinyl thats easy to extend and retract. The reflective surface will deflect heat to help keep your RV cool. The retractable shade is very compact and to pull it out you just use the handle here. When its a roof vent we want to make sure that this gray reflected material is facing up so that it can keep out the harsh rays from the sun.
We have two mounting holes right here, this are adjustable. You can slide then to fit the existing holes that are around your vent. When the shade is fully extended the dimensions are 19 inches long by 14 and one eight inches wide. It also comes with a one year limited warranty. Including this package is the retractable shade and the amount of hardware thats needed. Well go ahead and move on and show you how to install.
To begin we need to remove our adjustment screws. Now you only need to remove screws from one side of your vent. Take our shade and make sure that we can engrave right up the holes. Like I said, these are adjustable so you can move them as necessary. Fit our screw in and go ahead and screw it in place.
Now there is a third screw that is included in the hardware kit, so that when youre shade is all the way extended out, you can drill a whole, install your screw and tighten it. Then you can push in the button to retract the shade so that the screw slides into the smaller hole and will hold your shade in place. For our demonstration today we will not be installing that third screw. Theres a button here on the side that you push and it will allow the shade to retract, and that will complete todays review as the Camco lights out retractable shade for RV roof vents, part number CAM42913. .

Mechanism sprung before installation complete. Questionable whether or not this could ever be an acceptable accessory.

We installed this shade over bedroom vent. Does it's job by blocking majority of light to allow longer sleep.

Sorry for the delay in posting a review. I had to wait until I was able to travel to the trailer (husband uses it to work out of state). I forgot to take pictures of them too. This product is EXACTLY what we needed to put on our skylights/vents to help block the light & heat. It was a SIMPLE install. They have worked just like the description said. They are easy to retract in the kitchen when I need to open the vent & use the fan when cooking. They have cut out about 90% of the light (in my opinion) and helped kept the trailer considerably cooler!!! I WHOLE HEARTEDLY recommend this product !!!!! AND etrailer sent them a day early!

Its a little flimsy, and my wife destroyed the first one in 5 minutes because she didn't know there was a button the side to retract so pulled it past its end point expecting it to start retracting. I'm pretty handy at fixing things, but the pressed metal and plastic is minimally structurally sound so it was irrepairable. After getting another one and using it ever since, its does the job just fine, its what i expect for the money. The upside is, it does a fantastic job of keeping the suns rays out, and gives me a bit more time in bed in the morning before the sun wakes me up creeping through the edges.

The shade worked well to block the light from the fan over our bed. It doesn't retract fully automatically, but will do so gradually with effort - BUT, overall, very satisfied. :)

Purchased 2 shades for skylights in the living area and bathroom in our RV. We got them to keep out the heat. The shades were very easy to install and it is noticeably cooler standing under the skylights. Happy with purchase. Only wish they were a little longer. We're missing about two inches to cover from frame to frame.

Product is super easy to install, and fits great. It does block a good amount of light, but not completely blocking. Perfect fix for blocking most of that early morning light, to allow some sleeping in. It was the perfect solution, for the issue we were having. Etrailer was super fast on the shipping, and had excellent communication!

THIS LITTLE SCREEN HEPS WITH MY OVERHEAD VENT IN MY TEArdrop trailer. i like that its simple and darken the trailer to keep from getting sunlight blasting into the space mid day.
