Pair this center section with a custom mounting kit (sold separately) to get a super-secure hitch for towing your gooseneck trailer. Ball is locked in place with 2 pins when being used and flips over for storage inside the hitch when its job is done. This hitch was as easy to install as 1 2 3. Cut the hole following included instructions, bolt frame rail kit (sold separate), bolt hitch and bam I was pulling my trailer around for a test run before re torquing bolts. Only took a couple of hours to install by myself following the clear provided instructions. Grade 8 hardware being included was the decision maker for me. Great product from a great company!
Great product. Fit my vehicle without modifications. Easy to install. Converted my fifth wheel travel trailer to goose neck hitch, so I don't have to remove a heavy fifth wheel hitch every time I want to haul something. Just pull the lever and turn the ball over giving me full use of the truck bed. Awesome
Great product , excellent service , RAPID DELIVERY. THANK YOU
I have not had a chance to install this product yet. The metal quality looks to be good as well as the craftsmanship. All hardware that I believe is used for it is there and it should be a great install/addition. The only thing I am partially upset about is that it did not cone with the pilot hole mounting tool that curt uses in their videos. I’m going to have to call and try to get one of those.
Seems very well built. Fit and finish are great. I installed on a 2015 Sierra with the EZr mounting bracket and the only downfall of the combination was a very difficult installation...think bottle jacks and hammers.
Customer service was great. The product bolts right up with a little drilling and remove couple things and cutting out piece of sheet metal. Four to five hours to put in.
Though I have not installed yet item is of excellent quality and what looks to be a fairly simple installation.
I am adapting to a 1973 ford and will be fabricating cross members to accommodate.
GREAT PRODUCT!
Great product but the instructions are a little muddied. I replaced a welded in under bed gooseneck hitch with this unit. I chose this unit over a single pin gooseneck flip ball for the added mental security as well as potential for less rattle
2014 F150
Wow, what can I say, this is an extremely solid, well built unit.
I knew it was about 90 pound, but when you take it out of the boxes the quality really hits you. Everything fits just as it is supposed to. The bolts are all Grade 8, and when you get everything torqued you know this unit is truly part of the truck frame.
Maybe a little over kill for our 5500# Escape 5.0 TA, but I wanted that confidence while connected, and I got it.
Coupled this with the Anderson Ultimate Hitch in Black Out and couldn't be happier.
this installed correctly on my 2005 dodge ram 2500 diesel per instructions for installation with air bags. I have hauled a 42 foot 3 axle car trailer for over 6,000 miles with no issues. This was a great purchase. Thank you
It's worked flawlessly for over 15k miles pulling an 8500lb 5th wheel trailer with my F150. I had U-Haul install it because it is basically a two-man job, but I'd do it myself if I had to do it again. REMINDER, be very precise when measuring and cutting the hole on the truck bed.
I installed the Curt gooseneck on my 1993 GMC 2 Wheel Dr. 2500 truck. All the components have tight tolerances. It took me eight hours. With a socket and the wrench. Laying on my back. I did have to cut the wheel well lip about 3/8 of an inch off because I could not get that front angle bar to slide in without hitting it, no way around it unless you lift the bed up and I wasn’t going to do that!!. You have to cut it.instructions do not state that. I’m very happy with the Hitch, it is definitely stout! I did have to make a notch on the outside brackets to go over my airbag bolt. I also had to remove the support bracket on the inside of the frame for the airbag and the crossmember for the spare tire to get the front angled bar in.
Product is very good I’ve installed several of these hitches but this time the packaging was terrible. The crossmember bars were hanging out of the box the bolt packages were opened and I was missing bolt hardware to install the hitch. The wires used to pull the bolts through the frame one of them looked like it had been used and was all deformed to the point I couldn’t use it. Not sure if this was a restock hitch or what put all the packaging was terrible and missing parts.
I’ve had this hitch for about a year, and it’s great! It does exactly as it should. The only complaint is the red grip on the pull handle was basically sun faded and rotted after about 2 months.
Installed easily on 2015 GMC 2500 HD double cab short bed. Plenty of clearance under the bed when ball is flipped. This system makes for a clean useable bed. When I was purchasing this I was concerned about clearance of a gooseneck hitch and my transfer tank. I have a 40 gal tank that sits back from the cab a bit over 20 inches, there’s plenty of clearance for a gooseneck with a fuel tank on this short bed. The hitch has held up perfectly over the last year. I haul around 12k on steep, washboard, gravel roads.
Thank you for reaching out. Definitely love the reliability and durability of this hitch, also the added clearance. I have it mounted on my 40 foot enclosed race car trailer. We towed using it 35 to 40 times to and from race tracks in 2019. Hooking it up and disconnecting it every weekend. Never gave us a single issue.
I think this gooseneck hitch is the best for newer Sierra/Silverado HD trucks. I installed it a week ago with the help of my father-in-law and his car lift. Took about 4 hours moving slowly and taking our time. Everything fit well and bolted right up. I also reinstalled the foil heat shield after removing one mounting ear. I did not drop the exhaust or the plastic heat shield and still got everything in.
I chose this specific kit because it did not require notching the bed seam when installing the rails. It also has a higher tongue load rating than the others and was cheaper.
The only major criticism I have is the pull wire and carriage bolts. My chassis has weld nuts and I would have preferred to use those over carriage bolts pulled into the chassis. I am thankful there were access holes almost inline with the mounting holes. That made it easy to put pressure on the bolt heads so they didn’t fall back. I also think the gasket around the big hole should be one piece to make it look cleaner. I used black silicone rtv to smooth the transition and adhere the gasket in place.
Overall I am completely satisfied with the kit and the help of Shawn B who got my order in, had it shipped that same day and followed up with me after delivery. Thanks etrailer and Shawn B.
Fist I should say that this does seem beefy and I expect it will work fine for towing my 5th wheel. This was the most difficult installation I've ever experienced due to poor design, & poor workmanship. They clearly saved every penny they could by using low quality machining. This thing took me 3 days of cussing Curt. This is my 2nd Curt product and the first was similar, but not as bad as this. I willnever buy another Curt product.
I did the install myself on a 2019 GMC 2500 Short bed. I watched several videos before. I did not remove either mud shield or cut out/remove the heat shield. I chose not to install the chain holders since my Andersen Hitch has it's own tiedown bracket. My bed has a spray liner and therefore the edge covering would not fit the newly cut edges around the hole opening. So be sure to paint the exposed metal. In one of thg he videos a tech use a predrilled board as a guide during the drilling of the bed hole. This was a great idea. Since I chose to keep the heat shield installed I had to lift the main unit into place by sliding it up between the gas tank and rear differential unit. I think it would have been very helpful to have a tools required list before I started. Also, the tip about cleaning out the powdercoated threads was very good idea. Preptime, tapping threads, install and cleanup (tool put away) was over 6hrs....and I skipped a lot of disassembling a n.v d reassemble steps. Everything was straight forward and understandable. A lift would have been great but I used rear ramps which was enough. Make sure you get a step ladder for bed entry now. I expect it to work as expected. Seems very solid!
It was working great. I had 2 car carrier trailer Hitch on it , with 25k lb all the time. Works perfect.
I like it.
Ordered this after deciding to go with it over a B&W kit due to me not using it a whole lot and the price difference. When I received the package 1/2 the hardware was missing because the inner box it was in was all broke apart and the outer box was not sealed up. So I would have to give the packaging and shipping one star because I had to go spend an extra $75 on grade 8 hardware. The paper directions were not totally clear on several thing so we resorted to the video which helped a lot. The two large carriage bolts that go in the rear cross member are a little deceiving because the video makes it seem like they slip right in. However, the heads were larger than the pass through in the frame rails so it took quite a bit of extra time and ingenuity to get those fished through there with the plates.(The carriage bolts survived shipping so they were what came with the kit). In the video it showed where he cut a large u out of the inner fender to clear the pull handle and notched the bed that looked kind of sloppy. With a few extra measurements you can just cut a hole in both for handle to slide through and give it a much cleaner look. Definitely recommend putting a bolt through receiver holes and using a strap to hold up center plate through hole in bed after you get it into place. Makes life a lot easier until you get the bolt ls in. Overall this hitch works and functions great. Install went pretty smooth with two people and I would recommend it to anyone needing a hitch.
Used this kit to modify and fit my c notched lowered truck. Side plates welded to notch and hitch assembly is still removable. Kit was as described and am pulling 19k wit it and zero problems
