Hey everybody, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're taking a quick look at the CURT tow bar lock set. Now, this is designed for the Rambler, which is the CURT's tow bar, or one of them. But you can really use this with just about any tow bar. They all use pretty similar hardware, a similar industry standard. So, you can really swap this between any of them. The nice thing about it, is that it comes with the two locks, to lock the ends of that tow bar to the base plate.
And then it's going to also have a lock to go from your hitch to that tow bar, as well. So, on either end, you're going to be secure from anybody being able to mess with that, disconnect your towed vehicle from your RV, or your coach and drive off with it.So, pretty simple design. You do get three keys. They are all alike, so you're really just getting three duplicates. You can have one maybe in your coach, one on your key chain and then one to give to a friend, or have a spare.
So, just kind of up to you, as far as that goes.Let's take a closer look and talk a little bit about the measurements for these. So, we'll have one, again, that's going to go for the hitch side, that's going to be the thicker one. This has a 5/8 inch diameter. And as far as the length from end to end, it's about 5 1/4 inch long. The inner space, or the usable length of that shank is about 2 3/4, maybe about 2 7/8.
And then for our base plate, or side, or the other side, it's going to be the same length overall, about 5 1/4 and about 2 7/8 for that pin. But this diameter pin is a 1/2 inch, rather than the 5/8, so you can kind of see the difference there. As far as the operation, they all have a little dust cap to keep out any water, debris. Seems like it fits pretty well around there. There's kind of a little lip running around the inside, so it should be pretty water tight. And then the key just goes in, quarter-turn to open that up.
You got a little grommet there on the end, to help prevent water from getting inside that tumbler, or that lock and causing issues there. All in all, a pretty simple, straightforward lock set. I'd say that this is probably about mid tier, as far as the quality. There are others that I felt that just feel a little bit nicer, but this one, I think is going to do you just fine. It's going to be a really solid lock set, pretty easy to use and it gives you, again, both ends to lock that tow bar in place, protect your investment and make sure that nobody can drive off of it.They are a chrome-plated finish and that's pretty much all there is to it, for our quick look at the lock set for your CURT tow bar. I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is the right set for you. We do have some other options available here at etrailer.com. So, check them out. Thanks for watching.

Nice locks
