Received the hitch head in perfect condition. I was upgrading from a curt 10k weight distribution hitch to a 15k and did a ton of research. One thing that is important in this case is that the bolt length for the top bolt is too long for the 15k head from the 10k. I was able to get a new bolt locally. All in all a great experience as always with the staff. Ray helped immensely and got the order out fast.

What is The 5/8 x 1-1/2" Bolt For In The Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System C17509?
It appears the bolt, item -14 is to thread into the lower hole on the Head # C17509 of your Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System # C17501. See the included picture for the lower threaded hole in the head of the TruTrack hitch. That bolt would help hold the hitch head in position while the bolts are tightened to the shank.

Can Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution Have Tongue Weight Rating of Spring Bars Increased
The two Curt systems you have are very similar but to swap bars between the two you'd have to also swap the heads since the bars are different sized. So for a head you'd need the part # C17509 and the bars # C17537 and you'd have upgraded your system to the higher rated 1,000 lbs - 1,500 lbs tongue weight setup. What Does the Flip Up Part of the Curt Weight Distribution Head # C17307 Do?
The Curt Replacement Weight Distribution Head for Trunnion Style Bars # C17307 is the only system like this that Curt has. Those are spring loaded clips that keep the trunnion bars in place. If you want a different style of trunnion bar head, Curt has moved more to the TruTrack version like # C17509, # C17507, or # C17506 depending on the weight capacity of your system. Most systems have another attachment method, so if your system doesn't have them, it is not an issue.

There are replacement head units available for Curt TruTrack weight distribution systems, though you will not need to replace the head unit if you are merely using it with a different vehicle, you can transfer the unit and simply use the original shank. The Curt TruTrack # C17500 and the Curt TruTrack # C17501 actually use different head units too so you would need 2 of the Replacement Trunnion Spring Bar # C17537 as well as the 15K Replacement Head for Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System # C17509. Aside from that though you can use everything else.
