Video Transcript for Curt OEM 5th-Wheel Hitch Legs for Ford Super Duty Towing Prep Package Feature Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Curt OEM fifth wheel hitch legs for the Ford Super Duty towing prep package. These have a 24,000 pound towing weight capacity. This is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2011 and newer Ford Super Duty trucks with the factory-installed towing prep package. Now, on any custom fit part, I always like to recommend to go to our website, using our Fit Guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it will show if these will work for your application. Now, these legs, these are the fifth wheel base, which is specifically designed to attach to the receivers in your Ford factory fifth wheel towing prep package. These legs are designed to work with the Curt A-16, A-20, E-16, Q-16, Q-20, and Q-24 hitch heads, which we do sell separately on our website. Basically, the hitch head would bolt right in to here, the legs on the side is what would drop into the truck bed of your vehicle. Now, they do use a quarter-turn anchoring system for quick installation and removal.

I just want to rotate this to show you how that works. If you notice, there are two handles right here. So, we're going to pop open the pin and clip, we'll take that out. That will unlock it. You can see these handles will rotate out a quarter of a turn and, when you do that, it rotates these tabs, which then will allow these legs to drop into the pucks that are in your Ford factory package towing package.

You'll do that on each corner. Once they drop in there, then you just rotate those handles back and you'll notice that will rotate the tabs. That will lock them into those pucks on your factory unit. Then just take your pin, run it right through the holes in the handles. Go ahead and clip it and that will keep the handles from opening and then you're all attached, ready to go. To remove it, it's the same way. Just pop the clip and open it up. These anchors right here, you'll notice the nuts right here, these can be adjusted to eliminate any chucking between the legs and the under bed rails.

These parts are protected by a highly durable carbide black powder coat finish and they are co-cured in a rust-resistant liquid Bonderite coating. Again, the gross towing weight capacity on these legs is 24,000 pounds. One last note. You do never want to exceed the rated towing capacity of your vehicle. But that should do it for the review on the Curt OEM fifth wheel hitch legs for the Ford Super Duty towing prep package with a 24,000 pound weight capacity.

These Curt fifth wheel legs are specially designed to attach to the receivers in your Ford factory 5th-wheel towing prep package.

My rail mounted legs were attached to the hitch using 4 bolts / nuts and 4 "alignment lugs". The new legs had threads for 8 bolts, but no bolts. Went on a scavenger hunt for bolts and found 2 at Tractor Supply and 6 at Ace Hardware. Then I find out that only the original four bolt holes align and the other four are off by a little over 1/8 inch. Still being of the opinion that 8 are better than 4 (excluding ex-wives), I broke out a 5/8 bit and drilled the center 4. That wasn't quite enough so then I wallered (technical term) them a little more, tightened the bolts, flipped it over and locked it in and got everything torqued up. The shipping box arrived in perfect condition and the legs were well packed. I just wish Curt made a hitch with 2 more rows of bolt holes for a little more height to better clear these new tall bedsides.

by:

The legs are fine. The design is poor not giving easy access to the nuts to tighten. The instructions are poor. They do not address connecting to the hitch head.

Still feel it is a great product. Only feedback is that i wish there was a finer adjustment available for the castle nuts that control the fit to the puck system.

by:

Excellent customer service from Tiffany.
The hitch legs work and fit perfect with the Curt fifth wheel head. Extremely easy install.

by:

The Curt OEM 5th wheel Hitch legs went on my existing hitch perfectly. The instructions were very clear and I had the hitch in the back of my truck in no time. The hitch mounts up to my trucks puck system with no wiggle or movement at all.
My only complaint would be the shipping. My package went from Utah to somewhere on the east coast and then to New Mexico. It looked like the package was dragged behind the truck the whole way. Everything was there just some minor scratches.
The hitch legs are fantastic and allow me to use my A16 with my new truck. I'm a very happy camper.

by:

they fit great, so far i love them, saved me alot of money over buying a brand new hitch.

by:

Great adaptation from Nissan to Ford F-350, has worked flawlessly!

by:

Order the OEM Ford leg kit to use with my existing Curt Q16 5th wheel hitch. Needed for my new 2017 F250 that I use to pull my 40' RV. Everything fit and works perfectly. Pricing was the best I found and it arrived at my house the day after I placed the order!!! Great customer service and shipping. I would highly recommend etrailer to anyone looking for towing equipment needs.

by:

Product exactly as described, assembled with my Q20 head, bought 2018 F350 so upgraded to puck system. Took less than an hour to install. I used lower most head bolt holes and ended up exactly level with 6.5” clearance over bed rails. Puck system was easy to adjust for proper tightness, hopefully avoid “chucking,” first time out is the weekend.

by:

Very good quality and excellent service as always. Thank you for your fast delivery.
I mounted it in minutes. The brackets solved our problem of being too tall with the fifth wheel.

by:

Switched out the legs on my Q24 hitch from the rail system to the Ford F-350 puck system. Went extremely well and excellent fit. Quick shipping as always from etrailer!
Thanks

by:

Extremely great quality, fit perfectly with the Q25 center hitch piece and it doesn’t take a degree to figure out. Overall, it took 1 hour to install the entire thing in the truck after pulling the legs out of the box

by:

The hitch leg that made it looks great and already installed. UPS dropped the ball on us. Somewhere in transit the box got tore apart. Whoever re packaged it left one of the hitch legs out, and sent just one. They tore label off old box and taped it and part of the box on new one. I know it’s not E Trailers fault. Steve is getting me one shipped out on 2 day. I appreciate his help.

by:

Alyssa J did a fantastic job. Parts arrived ahead of schedule and as advertised. Perfect fit for my new 2023 F-350 Dually w/ OEM puck system.

by:

I think the product was great... the fit and finish was great (was) the shipping container was not appropriate for the weight of the product in it... the cardboard box was damaged bad and the hitch parts inside had rubbed together and damaged the great finish that Curt puts on the hitch parts... very disappointed in etrailer for the lack of attention to shipping a 5o pound steel hitch ..

by:

I sold my old truck and switched to a different manufacturer with a different puck system. I was able to keep the cost down by only switching out the legs. As usual, etrailer was there with the best price and fastest shipping. Hitch ordered and swapped in less than a week, now if only the stay at home order was lifted!

Going strong, without issue

by:

Switched to a long box truck, so out with the 170lb slider assembly and in with the 50lb fixed legs. Easy assembly and clear instructions, which I read after the fact. (Take note of not tightening everything to spec right away),

Would rated it 5 star as the legs are perfect for my ‘21 F450, but the packaging wasn’t tight enough to keep the legs from rubbing against each other. Minor cosmetic damage, but they’ll do what they’re designed to do.

by:

Easy to put together and looks good in the truck. Can't wait to try towing with it.

by:

worked as should !!

by:

Arrived on time as expected. Appear to be as strong as original legs for Q20 rail hitch. Note: if replacing original legs, be sure to keep the bolts from the original as replacement does not come with new bolts.

Working great. Had Curt Q20 with rail mountings on old Super Duty. New Super Duty had the puck system, so bought new legs for puck. Although heavy, they are still easy to take in and out. One has to take of head separately due to weight. It should be noted that the puck legs do not lift the hitch up as much as the rail system. I needed to use the highest holes to mount the head.

by:

As full time RV'ers we depend on our hitch to move our "house" with us around the US, Curt products have served us well.

After a year of full time RV travel thru the USA the product has performed berry well. Well built & sturdy

by:

This works great with my Curt A25 fifth wheel hitch and Ford puck system. I like the way it can all break down for easier removsl

by:

Great product, easy to assemble thanks to the wonderful customer support of e-trailer. I will always check with e-trailer first before I purchase any other towing or truck parts.

Still very pleased. I have been on numerous trips and the hitch continues to work flawlessly. Thanks.

by:

Easy bolt on to head and fit the Ford puck system perfectly. Gives me a flat bed when hitch is removed.

by:

As advertised. Work great. Look great. Very heavy duty. I bought these to adapt my Curt A20 5th wheel hitch to my new Ford F350.

by:

Worked perfect for my hitch after buying a new truck. Saved me from having to buy a whole new hitch. Shipped fast.

I have 2 options for you Simon to mount your Curt A20 5th Wheel Hitch # C16140 in your 2017 Ford F-350 with the factory puck system. The first and easiest is the Adapter Rails # C88KR which you found. This will mount into your 4 outer factory puck holes and gives you the same mounting points your Curt hitch fits into. Do understand this will add 2-1/2" to the height of your hitch so you may need to adjust your mounting holes. We also have the Legs # C16017 you can mount to your Head #...

To fit this on your 2022 Ford F-350 Super Duty with the 8' bed and OEM package you can either use the Adapter Rails # C88KR or the Leg Kit # C16017.
