Specs:
This solid, 4-mm-thick backing plate installs beneath your boat's gunwale to sandwich the gunwale between the plate and the mounting flange of your rod holder. With this backing plate installed, the gunwale is better protected from stress caused when the rod holder is under extreme load. Without this reinforcing plate, the flange of the rod holder may put undue strain on your gunwale at the attachment point, resulting in spider cracks around the mounting point, or possibly even ripping out of the rod holder.

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a quick look at the C.E. Smith Backing Plate. Now this solid 4 millimeter thick backing plate is going to install beneath your boat's gunwale to sandwich the gunwale between the plate and the mounting flange of your rod holder. With this backing plate installed, the gunwale is better protected from stress caused when the rod holder is under extreme load. Without this reinforcing plate, the flange of the rod holder may put undue strain on your gunwale at the attachment point, resulting in spider cracks around the mounting point or possibly even ripping out the rod holder.
So this is going to work with C.E. Smith 80 Series flush-mounted, stainless steel rod holders. And this is constructed of heavy-duty, rustproof 316L stainless steel, so it's very strong, very durable. This is going to install easily with three 1/4 inch bolts that are not included with this. You're simply going to get the backing plate, so you would have to source those 1/4 inch bolts on your own.
And let me go ahead and give you some overall measurements just so you have a good idea of the size. So measuring bottom to top, we're sitting pretty close to 6 inches on the dot. And then looking at the width, about 4-1/4 inches wide. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our real quick look today. I do hope that our brief time together was helpful for you.
Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
