Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the drawbar lunette-ring wear gauge. Now this drawbar gauge is a tool that'll measure the wear of the diameter section of a drawbar or lunette ring by using the color-coded indicators that'll tell you when the item needs to be replaced.They do give you five different-sized wear gauges to fit most all the drawbars or lunette ring sizes. They give you a 1" diameter, 1-1/4", 1-1/2", 1-9/16 and 1-5/8. They are all made of a carbon steel construction with a nice powder-coat finish.Now basically what you do with these, I'm going to demonstrate here. I happen to have one of the larger lunette rings here. This is a 3" inside diameter.

Basically what you'll do is you'll take one of these gauges, in this case we're going to use the widest one, which is the 1-5/8" diameter, and you'll put it onto the diameter section of the eye. You can see it'll fit right down on there. The widest length will be the green section on the gauge, which means it's the original size of the eye. It's the full diameter of the eye where the least amount of wear is shown.Now if it drops down into the yellow section, that means it's the moderate use. It'll shrink the original size of the eye.

The eye goes into that yellow section, that indicates 18% diameter reduction. At this time a replacement will be recommended. If it dropped down into the red area, that means a 20% reduction, that'll tell you that it should be replaces immediately. So when you do use this and you're hooking up to a pintle hook and it over time from towing and pulling and it'll wear this diameter section down. So you do want to make sure to maintain the correct diameter section for the capacity.So by using this gauge you can set it on there.

That'll tell you that's the full. The drop down to middle would be moderate use, and then the red of course you want to make sure to replace it immediately.But that should do it for the review on the drawbar lunette-ring wear gauge.
