Video Transcript for An In-Depth Look at the Bulldog Winch Snatch Block

Today we're going to review part #BDW20049. This is the Bulldog snatch block with a 19,000 pound weight capacity in a gold zinc plated finish. This snatch block will increase your winches pulling power. It will also change the direction of your pull without damaging the wire rope. It does use a maximum wire rope diameter of 3/8 of an inch diameter. It has a 19,000 pound max load or breaking strength capacity and an 8,000 pound working load limit capacity.

As you can see, it has nice easy-open side plates for simple rope mounts, to put your rope right on the pulley itself. The snatch block you can see is a gold zinc plating for corrosion protection. And another nice feature has a an actual grease zerk fitting on top of the pulley wheel, to where you can pump grease in there to help grease the pulley. That should do it for the review of part #BDW20049, this is the Bulldog snatch block with a 19,000 pound weight capacity in a gold zinc plated finish. .

  • Recommended Wiring for Superwinch Talon Series Off-Road Winch
The Superwinch Talon Series Off-Road Winch is a very nice winch that as you stated draws 345 amps at the 14,000 lb line pull. In order to give you the best option we have, I recommend the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit - Quick Connect to Terminal End - 2 Gauge - 20' Long # BDW20206. You will want to use the shortest distance possible for the best line pull strength. To get the full amperage, you would need to have your alternator running and have about a 5 foot length. One way to assist...

  • Recovery Winch Recommendation for a 2003 Ford F-250 Diesel
The Talon Series Winch, # SW1612201, that you referenced is a large winch and may be overkill for your truck. The Talon winches are high-performance recovery winches that they will have a faster line pull, an adjustable clutch, an upgraded remote and they offer a synthetic rope option that will not bind or fray like the steel cables. For your 2003 Ford F-250 Diesel, I recommend looking at the Rock 98 Off-Road Winch, # SW1698201. We have installed this on a 2004 F-250 and made a demonstration...

  • Electric Winch Compatibility for Vertical Lifting Like An Elevator
This is a unique question with a couple of different variables. That is a lot of weight to lift vertically which isn't the normal use for any of the electric winches we carry. They are designed for rolling loads and not a vertical pull of that capacity. We don't have a manual winch capable of the capacity you are seeking but these will run off a 12V battery (so power outage wouldn't be an issue) and you can always use a charger/maintainer like # CTEK56353. I've linked the page to your...

  • Recommended Bulldog Electric Winch and Related Items for Car Hauler Trailer
We can help you with an electric winch and wiring kit for installation on the tongue of your tilt-bed car hauler trailer. Winches, like jacks, are best selected with a healthy safety margin in their weight capacity. For example, for an actual need of 1000-lbs using a jack or winch rated for let's say twice that will offer benefits such as reduced wear and improved reliability. Often a product used well below its maximum capacity will tend to last longer. A rolling item like a disabled...

  • Can Winch Snatch Block Increase Weight Capacity of Winch
Using a snatch block like the # BDW20049 you can basically double the capacity of the winch you are using. You should note that when doing this you end up slowing down the speed of the jack by 50 percent. The same amount of weight will be present on the cable, but if you are worried about the location of where you have the winch mounted it would have 50 percent less of a load on it. If you check out the lovely picture I edited you'll see how a winch and pulley/snatch block need to be set...

  • Which Snatch Block Is Best For 5/32" Winch Wire Rope?
The Bulldog Winch Snatch Block # BDW20049 does not technically have a minimum wire size, but it does have a maximum wire diameter of 3/8". This would likely work fine with your 5/32" wire # BDW20102, however, a more appropriate snatch block for the 5/32" wire would be Bulldog Pulley Block for Powersports # BDW20004 which can handle maximum wire diameter of 1/4". This block is rated a 4,000lbs break strength and 1,600lbs working load limit which is comparable to your 5/32" winch wire that...

  • Recommended Snatch Block For Winches With Metal or Synthetic Ropes
Since you have both metal and synthetic ropes I recommend the Bulldog Winch Snatch Block # BDW20049 as it uses a metal wheel versus the polymer wheel the # BDW48SV comes with. This polymer wheel is more likely to be damaged by the metal wires in the rope.
