This retrofit latch kit for your toolbox has a lock that codes to your ignition key. Corrosion-resistant lock is made of automotive-grade materials and is nearly impossible to pick or bump.
Features:
Note: BOLT locks permanently code to only 1 vehicle. They cannot be re-coded or re-keyed.
Are you tired of carrying a bulky ring of keys - for your hitch lock and coupler lock, your pickup cover or trailer door, and all the various padlocks securing your equipment? Tired of fumbling for the right key or having to replace a lost key?
BOLT (Breakthrough One-key Lock Technology) has solved that problem by designing a line of locks that can operate with a key you already have handy - your vehicle ignition key.
When you insert your own key into the cylinder, spring-loaded plate tumblers move up and down until they are matched exactly to that key. The first time the key is rotated, the cylinder is uniquely coded to that key. When the key is removed, the cylinder moves into the locked position. When the key is turned again, it will rotate to the unlocked position.
Compatibility
If your late model GM key looks like the key above, it is compatible with BOLT locks.
See table to determine vehicle year, make, and model compatibility.
BOLT is particularly useful in commercial applications. Imagine being able to send a crew without having to sign out multiple keys for a work truck, trailer, hitch pins, and equipment locks. With BOLT, the vehicle key becomes a master key. It opens all those locks and you no longer have the hassle of getting to a work site only to find that you've brought the wrong keys.

Speaker 1: Today, we're going to take a look at the BOLT Toolbox Latch Retro Fit Kit. This codes to the late model GM key. Now, this part will work with most Chevrolet and GM trucks. What I would recommend is to go the product page of this part number, and at the bottom of this page it'll have a list of vehicles that it works with. Now, if you're tired of trying to find the correct key to open your truck toolbox, this retro fit latch kit for your toolbox has a lock that uses BOLT technology, and it codes to your vehicle's ignition key. The lock uses your vehicle's ignition key so you always have the right key with you.In a way, it's pretty easy to code. All you have to do is insert your ignition key into the BOLT cylinder, turn the key once, and then the lock is permanently coded to your key. One note, though, is the BOLT locks do permanently code to only one vehicle.
So, they cannot be recoded or rekeyed. This latch here will replace the factory latch on your truck bed toolbox; works on most truck bed toolboxes by EWS, DZ, Tractor Supply, and many others. It contains a heavy-duty lock cylinder, has security features, uses a plate tumbler sidebar to prevent picking or bumping of the lock, does use a stainless steel lock shutter; keeps out dirt and moisture from the cylinder. It does lock automatically when the key is removed. The latch itself is a weatherproof automotive quality stainless steel construction. You see it has a paddlestyle handle, so it lifts very easily. This kit does include everything laid out here on the table: the latch handle, the frame, and the lock cylinder; comes with a spacer, a lever with the e-clip, and then four rivets for installation, and a nice set of detailed instructions on how to install this. But that should do it for the review on the BOLT Toolbox Latch Retro Fit Kit that codes to the late model GM key..

The product was very easy to install but I had to modify it to work with the tool box mounted on my truck. The tool box was assembled in Florida about 6 years ago and made by Delta. The problem was with the latch it self. The left side latch that swings out left when you life handle worked fine but the solid latch next to it interfered with the latching bolt on the lid of the tool box. I had to cut off the solid “right side” of the latch. Otherwise, it works great and now I feel more secure with the tool box locking with my truck key. I also purchased and installed a similar locking devise for my tail gate latch that locks with my truck key. One key now works on everything. Super. Thanks etrailer. Charles W. 633442
