Today we're going to take a look at the Blue Ox Base Plate Lock Kit. Now these locks will let you secure your tow bar to the base plates on your tow vehicle using these half inch diameter deadbolt style locks. It does include the two half inch diameter locks, includes the four keys, and the keys are all keyed alike, so either key will work on either lock. These are made of a high quality forged chrome plated machined hardened steel. They do have a class two rating and they're easy quarter-turn locks to unlock the head. Basically if you pop off the cap here, take your key.
They are tube-style keys. Just insert it in there. And you can see as you turn it a quarter of a turn, it releases it. Slide it through. Now when you go to lock it, put it right back on, turn it back a quarter of a turn and it's locked.
Put your cap on and you're all ready to go.Now, let me take the lock off. It does use a nice o-ring seal right in here to help seal it. And then when you do install it, it gives you a nice water tight seal. It has a nice cap on it, that'll help keep dirt and corrosion from getting into your lock core. And the lock cannot pop open once it's locked on, cannot be false locked.
That's why when you put the key in, it'll turn it to lock it in. And again, basically just to show you, go ahead and pop off the cap. The cap is on there. It stays on there pretty well. Just pop that off, take your key, put it in there, turn it.
That'll unlock it. And when it's unlocked, you can see the key won't come out. And when you go to put it back on, turn it back into place, and you're locked into place, simple as that. Put your cap back on. But that should do it for the review on the Blue Ox Base Plate Lock Kit.

I lost a lock on an older lock set, so I bought these as the locks have changed. I now have a spare.
The locks work great. It was nice to get four keys with the two locks. My only complaint is the rubber cap holders fall of after you take the lift the caps to unlock.

It’s a pair blue ox labeled locks for a blue ox base plate. They lock the tow bar onto the plate.
Nice to have them keyed the same, like the quarter turn.

The locks are nice. no rust. The caps are still annoying, though we have not lost either.
