Today on our 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we'll be installing a Blue Ox base plate adapter brackets for rugged ridge XHD bumpers, part number BX88301. Here's what our base plate looks like installed. The only thing that we're adding to the vehicle itself are these brackets here for our safety cables that are included with our tow bar to hook up to. We remove our D ring on our after market bumper for our pin that will secure our tow bar to the vehicle. The majority of this kit is installed on your tow bar. Here's what it looks like with our safety cables already attached. It gives us a nice place to hook up to in case we we're to be uncoupled from our RV somehow.
They're easy to remove. Lever, pull them out. When you're ready to unhook once you've arrived at your destination just pull your pin out. We kept our three washers on the pin so they're readily available for when we're ready to hook up to our RV again. This is a quick and easy way to hook up to your RV to be flat towed.
It doesn't add any excessive weight to the front of the vehicle. You don't want to do any modifications to your expensive after market bumper. Now that we've gone over some of the features of this kit we'll show you how to hook it up. We use the included pin and our plastic washers as needed to help take up some of the slack here in the bracket. We'll start on the outside here. We'll put two washers on.
Slide it in position. Then we'll come in with a third washer for the outside edge here. Tap the bracket in place. Okay, with those three washers in place now you can see how our bracket for our tow bar doesn't have any play in it anymore. Take our pin clip here, go down, make sure it locks in place like so, and now we're ready to hook up to our RV. All right, to begin our installation we're going to start off with our tow bar here on a table.
We're working with a Blue Ox Aventa LX. Part number BX7445. We'll remove our end links right here using a three quarter inch socket and a wrench. We'll discard the bolt and nut that we have. Now, pay attention to the angle right here where it spaces up. We'll want to orient our new piece in the same manner. We'll take out our two washers here, and grab two new washers that come with our base plate kit. Slide it in position, and we'll drop down a new bolt. All the hard work comes at the base plate. Take a new lock nut here. We'll tighten this down until it's tight, but our arm still moves freely. Okay, just like that will be good. We'll do the same for the other arm. Okay, they're both snugged up now. We have our tow bar made so it will attach to the D rings on our bumper. We can go over to the vehicle now and attach our bracket for our safety chain links. Okay, now we'll start out by removing our D ring. Use a 15/16 wrench and a socket to remove this. Okay. We'll repeat the same process for the other side. I will be installing our safety chain loops recognize here on the inside where our D ring brackets were. To do that we'll remove the two bolts here. We're using a 19 millimeter socket on the nut on the back side of the bumper, and an 18 millimeter to remove the bolt. This top bolt here on the driver's side is slightly different than the other ones. There's a chunk of the frame that's in the way, so we're able to come in from the top, and hold the nut in place. Now we'll take our bracket and our two new bolts. Push them through. Let it sit in place. Take one of our nuts, and we'll put some red lock tight on the threads on the inside. We're going to hold it onto our top bolt, and get the bolt started here. Place our socket onto it. Snug down our bolt now using a 19 millimeter socket on both these. I'll die the same for the bottom bolt. All right, now we'll torque all of our bolts down in the amount specified in the instructions. That completes our installation of the Blew Ox base plate adapter bracket rugged ridge XHD bumpers. Part number BX88301 on our 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.

Great Kit, everything installed easily and worked great with the Bumper on the jeep. 762709
Best place for hitches, receivers, electrical and accessories for towing. Won't shop anywhere else. 485947
I have to say this kit is exactly what I wanted for my XHD Bumper. Much easier that the bolt on kit I used to use for towing. It's clean, and integrated and you can still use the D-Rings Or remove them to tow. It's a little pricey for just some replacement ends on the tow bar and a saftey chain connector but still less than a traditional base plate. 203737
