Today we're going to review part number BX88207. These are the Blue Ox permanent base plate safety cables, with a 5,000 pound weight capacity, and for a quantity of two. Now, this part comes with everything shown here. It comes with the two cables, the four quick link connectors, and a nice set of detailed instructions. Now, these permanent base plate safety cables are strongly recommended when towing a vehicle with a tow bar. The main function of these safety cables is to prevent the towed vehicle from breaking loose in the event the connection between the frame of the towed vehicle and the base plate fails, or becomes disconnected.
These safety cables offer extra security for your tow system. They use aircraft grade steel cable, which is very strong and durable. The whole cable is plastic coated here, to help prevent scratches to your tow bar. These are made in the USA. Again, it includes the two cables, the four quick links. The length on these cables is 36 inches long.
Capacity, again, is 5,000 pounds. Basically, when you go to install these, what you'll do is take your quick link connectors and you'll put one of these on each end of the loop. Then, you'll go ahead and tighten it down. What you want to do is, you're going to wrap one end of the cable around the base plate on the towed vehicle, and the other end of the cable you'll wrap either around the cross member or the frame of the towed vehicle. Again, that'll give you security, just in case the base plate comes detached from your towed vehicle.
