Many tow systems require some sort of hitch accessory to either raise or lower your tow bar so that it sits level. To determine if your setup needs an adapter, hook the tow bar up to your RV and towed car and measure to see how close to level it is. The "safe zone" for a motor-home-mounted tow bar ranges from 3 inches above level to 3 inches below. Car-mounted models must be absolutely level. This high-low adapter can provide you with the necessary drop or desired rise to achieve a level tow bar setup.

It was the perfect fit for my applicati on!

Drop hitch has worked well and provides the adjustment needed to get out towbar more level. It has withstood the weather and substances that it encounters and still looks new. I would recommend this product if you are in the market for a drop hitch to make your towbar be more level when attached to your motorhome.

Comments
A year later and the hitch still looks great and is performing well! A great product that I would recommend if you need to level your towbar between your motorhome and your towed vehicle.

What can you say about a hitch receiver. It's well made, heavy and I'm sure a durable. I needed 2" drop for the Jeep Wrangler I am towing. Had an 8" drop receiver prior for a low slung VW Bug and on steep driveways it would drag. As always etrailer was quick to fill the order and it arrived within a few days of the order. Good price and free shipping.

As good as day one.

The items purchased are great, and easy to hook up to use.

Just installed a towbar for 4 down towing, and needed to drop 2" to level the bar in relationship to the towed car. However, I have a sloping driveway to the street and have to worry about scraping. BlueOX made the shortest extension (8"), which gave me the 2" drop I needed. I did some calculations and measurements, and I figured that it should JUST work. Received the extension today, put in on the coach before installing the towbar and made a test run. I have exactly 1" to spare before the hitch would scrape. Just a perfect fit for what I needed.

by:

Excellent service at a good price. Totally professional in all respect. Required lowering the hitch ball on my 2016 Yukon. The heavy duty two inch Blue Ox drop receiver will do the job.

by:

High quality, fast delivery, excellent customer service. Knowledgeable staff worked with me on shipping and follow up. etrailer has highest quality products and combined with their employees, provide the very best service I have ever found. Some places may be a little less expensive but it’s not worth the minimal savings when compared to the known quality, excellent service, and delivery and follow up that etrailer always provides.

Drops my hitch basket just enough on my 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited to open the tailgate (and spare-tire) with the basket on

by:

Just received my order earlier than expected. Have not installed it yet but it appears to be just what I needed to connect my new Ford Ranger to the back of my RV. My previous tow vehicle had a 4 inch drop so by doing some measurements I'm sure the 2 inch will work as required to level the tow bar. Thanks again for exceeding my expectations.

by:

Heavy duty ( a little expensive) but dropped the receiver just that little bit to clear the spare tire/tailgate on Jeep Wrangler.

by:

Good quality products, excellent customer service. Very happy with all products purchased from this dealer and have recommended to friends and family.

by:

My first time doing business with etrailer and I am impressed. I placed my order on Tuesday morning and received my merchandise precisely on time on Thursday afternoon. I look forward to working with them in the future.

exactly as stated product is super

I have a Blue Ox tow bar attached to 3/4 ton pickup with a truck camper in the truck bed. I use this for towing a Jeep. Blue Ox wants the tow bar to be level, but I had between a 2" and 3" drop from the Jeep to the pickup truck. This product raised the tow bar up 2" at the pickup truck and the tow bar is now nearly level. In addition, it moves the pivot point 6-1/2" to the rear, which allows me to make sharper turns without worrying about the Jeep hitting the camper. This product did an excellent job of solving my problem.

  • How to Pick Out Drop Ball Mount to Allow Trailer to be Towed Level
What you need is a ball mount with 2 inches more drop than what you currently have. Using a drop adapter like the part # BX88128 is not the best solution as this adds quite a bit of length and movement to the towing setup which cuts the capacity of the hitch down by 50 percent. I attached an FAQ that details how to pick out the correct ball mount. Picking out the correct ball mount will allow your trailer to sit as level as possible. Basically you will first measure the height from the...

  • Is A High/Low Adapter Needed For A 1.25" Height Difference When Flat Towing A 2021 Ford Escape
If you're saying that the height of your base plate connection on your 2021 Ford Escape is 15.25" and the height of your motorhome hitch is 16.5" then you only have a 1.25" drop which would fall in the 3" safe zone for your tow bar. If you wanted to get it closer you could use the Blue Ox High-Low Adapter for Tow Bars # BX88128 which has a 2" rise/drop so you could swap it to a 0.75" difference.

  • High Low Adapter for Motorhome Flat Towing Vehicle with Lower Base Plate Height
It looks like you are in need of a high low adapter that can lower the hitch height right at about 2 inches with the part # BX88128 but the safe zone for height differences is 3 inches higher or lower like the picture I attached.

  • Extension Other Than the Long Hitch Connector Assembly for the Blue Ox Aventa Tow Bars
The Blue Ox Aventa Tow Bar you are referencing is no longer available. If I am understanding you correctly you no longer need the Blue Ox High-Low Adapter for Tow Bars # BX88128 because your Jeep sits differently than your Fiat did, but that you are still needing to extend the distance from the back of your RV in order to not melt your KarGard II. If that is correct, then the Blue Ox Hitch Extender for Tow Bars # BX88265 will work for you. The High-Low was a total of 13-1/2" but extended...

  • High-Low Adapter for Cargo Carrier and Motorcycle Hauler
The Blue Ox High-Low Adapter for Tow Bars - 2" Hitches - 2" Rise/Drop - 8" Long item # BX88128 is designed for flat towing and is not to be used for hauling a trailer. Generally a high low adapter can be used on accessories like cargo haulers and bike racks. The high low adapters will reduce your Silverado's hitch receiver's tongue weight capacity by 50%. For a high low adapter that is recommend for accessories try the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter for Tow Bars - 2" Hitches - 4" Rise/Drop...

  • Is Hitch Extender Needed With Blue Ox BX8870 KarGard Towed Vehicle Protector
According to Blue Ox, users of the Blue Ox # BX8870 KarGard typically don't need an extender to increase the distance between the motorhome and the towed vehicle because the KarGard will sit pretty close to the vehicle being towed (about 1 foot). If you should find you need an extender, Blue Ox tells me that it's acceptable to use the # BX88264 for 12 inches of extension or # BX88265 for 6 inches of extension, but the tow bar will need to be within 3 inches of level. They go on to say...

  • What is the Tongue Weight Rating for the Blue Ox High-Low Adapter BX88128
In most cases whenever you use an adapter you will be cutting your Tongue Weight (TW) capacity in half. So if the trailer hitch receiver on your Ford F-150 has a TW of something like 900 lbs then an adapter will make your TW 450 lbs instead. I contacted Blue Ox and they were unable to supply me with a TW rating for their High-Low Adapter # BX88128 so it would be safest to just cut your TW rating in half. Now in the case of the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-072-2, if your TW was 900...

The only product that is designed for what you are looking to do is actually the part # D210 which will have a second hitch opening that is about 3-1/2 inches above the shank that slides into hitch tube. The BX88128 cannot be used with cargo carriers like the # C18152.

Yes, you are correct; your 2005 Hummer H2 will not have a large plate on the frame when installing the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX4102. I have added a link to the instructions which detail this, but essentially these base plates are simply going to replace your existing tow hooks, like you mentioned. • Hitch Extender for Swagman XTC2 With a Drop For Spare Tire and Tailgate Function
For your Swagman XTC-2 # S64670 you can use the Curt Dual 2" Receiver Tube Adapter, 8" Extension # D-192 and simply invert it so the bike carrier tube is lower than the receiver tube. This will move your bike rack down about 5-1/4 inches and extend it 8 inches to give you spare tire clearance.
