Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Blue Ox replacement brake claw. This is going to replace the brake claw that came with your Blue Ox Patriot, or Patriot II supplemental braking system. This is gonna be a direct replacement from Blue Ox, so you can trust it is gonna be compatible with your Patriot and Patriot II braking system. This will grab onto your vehicle's brake pedal so that your braking system can effectively depress the pedal. So just like the original, to adjust it you'll pull up on that tab there and then you can press that button to release it.
And then if you want to lock it in place, twist this knob on the side here, and that will lock it. So even if the button is depressed, it won't collapse on you. To release, we'll take it back into that vertical position and then you can push that button and spring loaded functionality will allow it to retract again. You can see they also include these J-hooks here. So, if that is going to fit your application better you can switch these out for these J-hooks so that it will fit onto your both pedal properly.

Rating this product as a 5 is a direct result of owning the previous iteration claw sold on the Patriot four years ago when I bought one. Reaching around the brake assist while manually trying to hold the spring loaded claw open and putting it on the brake pedal with your hand and arm cocked almost backwards...well let's just say this description doesn't begin hint at the frustration. After using my Patriot for 4 years, I can count all the times I hit it on the first shot. This design allows you to cock the device in the open position, slip the claw over the pedal then either shoot it closed with a button on top or just push the device forward engaging a second release on the front snapping it shut. My wife is looking forward to a hookup without the subsequent tirade.

Working as good as the day I bought it. This truly is an example of continuing to re-engineer your products to improve them. Well Done!
We broke one of these last year and were desperate for a replacement. E trailer sent us one overnight and we were good to go. Not only was the service good but the entire Blue Ox system. Has worked flawlessly. What a great experience it was to deal with a company that truly believes in customer service.

Wouldn't know if the product works or not! I paid extra to have the item arrive on Thursday. Item was not delivered until Friday when we were already on the road. So we had to make other plans due not being able to use our flat tow!

I am sorry that it didnt arrive when you needed it. It looks like you ordered Ground shipping for your expedited shipping. Unfortunately, Ground is not necessarily a guaranteed time frame as well. If you are needing to make sure an order arrives by a specific day, I highly recommend getting the more exact expedited shipping methods. Especially if you are needing next day or 2 day shipping.
We travel full time and are never in one place for very long. I needed a part for my Patriot II brake system and etrailer.com came through. I only had a 5 day window of time to get the part I needed and it arrived on time. Thanks etrailer.com and Kyle D. for the follow up and help.
Product solved the problem I had with the Blue Ox Braking system
Exactly what I was expecting. Saw the new claw end on a newer model of the brake unit. Found it on-line at etrailer.
Although I received a message that shipping would be delayed, everything arrived much earlier than expected.

The Patriot Brake "Claw" upgrade makes installing the unit a breeze. No more getting on the ground to wrangle the pedal attachment on the vehicle's brake pedal. Just open it and place it over the pad and push the button. DONE!!!

Changed out the extra larger set of jaws and the brake buddy hooked up toThe f150 brake pedal easily.
Unfortunately, all i need was the upper fangs for an existing claw when I changed out the tow vehicle to a Jeep with a smaller brake peddle. I couldn't find the original smaller claws and had to order this whole unit. The fangs aren't available individually. Well, now I have a backup.
Great replacement for the original. Much improved design. I had to take my original to a grinder to get it it fit. Looks like realized the errors of their way and redesigned this one

This replacement Brake Claw for the Blue Ox Patriot does come with the threaded fitting that threads into the rod of the brake unit. If you are referring to the extension rod that is needed for brake pedals that are farther away from the seat, you will need part # BRK2502. Not all vehicles will need the extension piece so it doesnt come with the claw.
