Today we're going to review part number 5-8. This is the lock washer for the 7/16 size brake mounting bolt for 7 inch and 10 inch brake assemblies. This part is made to work with the other parts that we sell separately. This is the 7/16 size brake mounting bolt which is part number 7-75. It is sold separately. It is listed on this product page as a related product.

The lock washer is made to go on there, and also the other piece that we sell separately, it's made to go with is the mounting nut for the brake assembly for 7 and 10 inch brake assemblies. It's part number 6-17 and that's made to screw on to the . and all 3 of those pieces again are sold separately. That should do it for part number 5-8. This is the lock washer for the 7/16 size brake mounting bolt for 7 inch and 10 inch brake assemblies..

  • Where To Measure to Determine What Size Brake Assemblies are Needed
In order to determine what size brakes you need you will need to measure what you currently have on your trailer. Check out the picture I attached that shows you exactly where to measure. If you are instead looking for a way to add brakes to your trailer that currently does not have any check out the help article I attached that covers this.

  • Recommended Replacement Hydraulic Drum Brakes for Tandem Axle Trailer
Selecting correct hydraulic drum brake assemblies for your tandem axle trailer requires matching brakes to the axle capacity, the size of your hub/drums (please see linked photo) and to the type of brake flange on your spindles. The linked page will show you all hydraulic drum brakes we offer which are suited to axle capacities from 2500 to 15,000-lbs. Usually a 2500-lb axle will have 7 x 1-3/4-inch brakes but if your trailer has 10-inch hubs it could be that the axles are rated higher...

  • Comparing Different Hydraulic Trailer Brakes for Boat Trailer
Essentially yes, all of them will work for your trailer assuming you have 3,500 pound axles and a 4 bolt mounting flange. However, there are some differences between the brake assemblies you mentioned. The # AKFBBRK-35 are free-backing brakes, meaning they will not engage when reversing with your trailer. If your trailer has a reverse lockout on it then this feature is not necessary. They're coated with an e-coat used for corrosion resistance. The Demco brakes # 40716-15 are galvanized...

Setting up a trailer with electric drum brakes is going to be the easier and most cost effective way of adding brakes to your Scamp trailer. Since the trailer already has the mounting flanges that will limit the amount of parts and work that will need to be done. Starting with the hub and drum assemblies since your bearings are both L44649 and you have an EZ Lube style axle you would need # 8-257-5UC3-EZ with the 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern. I would recommend looking at your existing bearings to confirm a match. If the existing bearings you have are # L68149 inner and # L44649 outer, these are the correct replacements.
